A LIAR AT THE ALTAR SEASON 2: CHAPTER 11 – 20

Chapter 19

“Then why are you here?”
He sounded annoyed.

“Sorry to interrupt your breakfast, we need you to come with us to the station and answer a few questions relating to your son’s disappearance and the murder of Mrs. Hermione Porter.”
She said in one breath.

“Excuse me?”
Tristan raised one brow at them.

“It won’t take long, I promise.”

“Okay but I’m calling my lawyer.”

“Sure, you can do that.”

“I’m coming with you.”
I said catching their attention.

“No, stay here, you’re not feeling too well.”
I watched him leave with them, I lost my appetite and went back to my room.

A LIAR AT THE ALTAR SEASON 2: CHAPTER 11 – 20

Tristan came back in the afternoon, he didn’t talk much. He only told me they wanted to know his whereabouts on the night of the crime.

I skipped breakfast and lunch, I was hungry before dinner was ready.

I sat in the living room forcing myself to watch the news in case anything on a missing boy came up and checking my phone every second for any message about him.

Tristan was in the kitchen with Morris, I had no idea what they were cooking.

The doorbell rang multiple times, the person was really impatient.
Morris was out of the kitchen before I could stand up.

“Miss Simpson?”
He called from the door.

“Yes, Morris?”

“I think you need to see this.”
I stood up and walked to the door, I could not believe my eyes.

“Kayden?”

He was standing in front of the door licking a rainbow candy, he was wearing a red sweater and blue jeans.

“Mom!”
I got to him before he could run to where I was.

“Oh my God, it’s you. You’re back.”
I cried hugging him tightly, he giggled in return.

“I will inform Mr. Sanchester.”
Morris said with a smile and left.

I pulled away with tears in my eyes, I looked outside wondering who brought him.

Someone brought him here but I didn’t see anyone.

“Cassie?”
I heard Tristan’s voice from behind.

There was a gunshot when I turned to look at him.

I gasped immediately I heard the gunshot, I pulled Kayden to my chest.

“Get inside!!!”
Tristan yelled grabbing my arm and pulling me inside the house. He shut the door quickly and faced me.

“Are you okay? How is he? Is he hurt?”
Tristan asked touching my face and searching for any injury on my body.

“We are okay.”
I said breathlessly.

There was another gunshot when he reached to take Kayden from my arm, we all docked trying to dodge the shards of glass that came flying from the wall.

“Everyone get down!”
Tristan shouted.

I held Kayden tightly to my chest as I squatted, he buried his face in my neck.

“Don’t worry baby, everything will be okay, just close your eyes.”
I whispered stroking his hair.

The gunfire didn’t stop, the lunatic kept shooting breaking every glass in the way, some artifacts and paintings shattered on the floor.

I said a silent prayer hoping this nightmare ends soon. Things kept falling and breaking into pieces, my heart jumped to my tongue when the big chandelier fell to the ground.

Kayden increased his grip on me, I pressed my body to the corner of the wall I was using as a shield.

The person wanted all of us dead, why else would the person want to bring the whole house down?

“Shit, I left my phone in the kitchen.”
Tristan groaned.

I watched him crawl toward the kitchen.

“What are you doing? You might get shot.”

“I need to call for help, stay here.”

“Tristan…”

“I will be fine.”
He cut in, I held my breath as he left.

Tears welled up in my eyes, I wanted this to be over. I kissed Kayden’s head multiple times telling him how much I love him.

I squeezed my eyes shut as the gunfire continued, shattering the glass panel. This was far from how I imagined my life to end.

The gunfire ceased, did the person run out of bullets or was the person loading more?
I waited for some minutes for any sound or noise from outside but heard nothing.

I exhaled in relief and put Kayden down, he was quiet but he looked confused and scared. I checked his body for any injury, I pecked his cheeks and hugged him.

“It’s okay,” I whispered.

I pulled away and looked at the wreckage.

Tristan?!

“Tristan!”
I stood up taking Kayden in my arms, I jumped all the broken stuff in my way.

I froze when I got to the dining, my heart sank at Tristan’s unmoving body on the floor.

I forgot how to breathe as I saw the blood on the right side of his stomach and on his left arm.

“Tristan?”
