CHAPTER 50

Diana was loading her luggage into the cab when Jimi’s range rover pulled over

She wanted to be invisible or just for the ground to open and swallow her. It’s barely six o clock in the morning what was he doing here.

She purposely didn’t inform anyone about her traveling plans moving forward because she didn’t want any surprises but somehow fate seem to be playing a dirty trick on her

She’s hooked no matter where she turns to someone is in her way.

Jimi was coming straight from the club after figuring out what happened with Dorcas. Jimi took the whole night to reflect on the way forward and he realized he had to mend whatever this is

So instead of heading home he went straight to her apartment, with the alcohol in his veins he has just about the right confidence to face her

Only for him to get there and find her putting bags in a car
Is she leaving. Jimi ran out of his car

“Diana what’s going on”

“Oh goodness” she flips

“Where are you going to”

“Isn’t it obvious that we are trying to get away from here, from you and everything else”

“You can’t go just yet and if you’re leaving because of me . Don’t. I now know why you’re being so angry”

Diana was confused, what is he talking about

He went back to his car and returned with a familiar framed picture the same one she was looking at yesterday before going to the pharmacy

“Where did you get that”

“That’s not important”

“Of course it is, you went through my things”

“Can we focus on what’s important here and leave aside the minor issues”

“There’s nothing to discuss Jimi. Am done talking am exhausted this is a mistake”

“Your sister Dorcas and I met in the university. We had an affair am sure she told you about it and that’s why you hate me so much but Diana that’s like eight years ago I was living a wild life. I didn’t know what I was doing, I was young and foolish. Stuff happened and I can’t hold back on my mistakes but if your sister is here she’ll tell you that I didn’t mean to hurt her, everything happened so quickly it was over before I could stop myself. I am really sorry diana I didn’t plan for any of this”

“I don’t need your apology Jimi. I just need you to leave me alone pls”

“I already told you that I am not going to disturb you anymore, if you want space I’ll give you space you don’t have to leave”

“I have to…..” She answered impatiently

“Okay I won’t stop you but I need to speak to your sister, I need to apologise for my actions and behavior. She’s a really good person Diana, very sweet girl I just wish I could go back in time and fix what have broken”

“Well it’s too late for that. ”

“I just want to talk to her pls”

“You can’t”

“Why not. Are you going to place another embargo on your sister because I really don’t understand you and your uptight principles. Why don’t you ask her if we can sit and chat before making the decision for her”

“I can’t….. I can’t Jimi” she yelled at him
“I can’t…because she’s dead.
She’s not here anymore, she passed away”

Jimi’s jaw dropped and he couldn’t even hold the air in

Diana got into the cab as quickly as possible, Abby was still fast asleep laying in the back.

If jimi isn’t talking about Abby he obviously doesn’t know she is his daughter yet so she has an edge to get away from here before he realizes

His phone rings and it was his mom calling for the umpteenth time, he clicked the answer button and she was already blabbing

“Slow down mom. I can’t hear you”

“Jimi where the h’ll are you”

“At home”

“Nonsense, have been waiting in your house since last night and you didn’t come home”

“Wait! What are you doing in my apartment mom”

“We have something very important to discuss Jimi. Where are you”

“On my way to work. What do you want Mom”

“I finally figured out what that crazy girl is up to Jimi. I think she’s holding your child against you”

“Hold on what are you talking about”

“Diana”

“What about Diana”

“That baby she’s carrying about is yours Jimi and am going to prove it”

“Whaaat!!”

“We’re going to do a DNA test, everything is going to be out in the open”

“I don’t understand anything you just said. How’s that even possible, Abby is not my daughter. Diana and I have not met before just her sister we met in the university a long time ago like eight years or thereabout”
