CHAPTER 43
Simi knew her friends won’t back down until they got Jimi’s address so she decided to help them follow a false trail.
Esther showed up at her house unannounced one morning and before she could snoop through her phone, she had asked Jimi to send her the address to the poultry farm he wanted to buy a few years back.
So of course Esther saw the address assumed it was Jimi’s home address, but when she got back to Nancy she gave Nancy a completely different address but Simi was expecting her to do something like that
So she took Nancy with her and they trailed after Esther one evening when she dressed too much for the so called club she claimed she was heading to
Nancy hopped down the car, after giving Esther some time to make a fool out of herself…
She had showed up at the fake address on Simi’s phone which was infact a poultry farm, just as she has predicted, she had told Nancy she was going to the club with some friends only for them to trail her here
They moved closer to her as she was busy slamming the gates with her palms, yelling Jimi on top of her voice
“Oh calm down Esther, You are disturbing the chickens… I don’t know if you have noticed but this is a poultry so unless there’s a chicken named Jimi here you’re yelling the whole name”
” guys…. What are you doing here?”
“I think the question should be, what are you doing here Esther?”
“Funny question, I was just passing by to see a friend…. How about you Nancy, … How did you end up here?”
“Maybe because Jimi doesn’t live at the stupid address you gave me and he obviously doesn’t live in a poultry house either”
“My make-up artist lives here, works here. I wanted her to touch my make-up”
“Don’t be ridiculous Esther, you’ve embarrassed yourself enough”
“Why did you gimme the wrong address Simi?”
“Don’t give me that question for question rubbish”
“Let me answer her Nancy, don’t worry I’m fully package for all her cunning games and oscar winning performance….. So Esther when did I ever tell you to your face or hand to you in writing my brother’s address”
“I saw the address on your phone Simi”
“Why would you go through my phone in the first place”
“It popped up the screen besides, I told you I was only passing by and I recalled the address and decided to say hello to Jimi not knowing this was a fake address and you guys were joblessly stalking me”
“Is that what you think this is”
“That’s exactly what it is”
“So is this your way to the club Esther”
“It doesn’t matter what route I take, do you even know the club I was heading to”
“No… Because you are a lying bch and the only thing you are good at is covering your lies with another bunch of lies, do we look like fools to you….
Fine you may have tricked me or fool me in the past but all that ends right now.. How can you be so heartless and selfish, uncountable times you keep pretending to care about me but all you ever do is fend for yourself ”
“And so… Answer me and so if I don’t stand up for myself… Who will…. You, You call me selfish but have you sat down to think that you are the most selfish pathetic person on this planet,”
“Esther you can’t talk your way out of this one we’ve got you and your tricks”
“I don’t play tricks, I dont have to, you never even want me for your brother in the first place. You keep reminding me that am way out of his league….. Fine I chase after Jimi endlessly but what about you Nancy. All this time you’ve been pretending to be over him whereas you were bombarding him with messages and flirty moves”
“You read my messages, how dare you?”
“Oh please spare me the sarcasm. You act like you don’t know that Jimi and I had an affair but in one of your thousand messages to him, you claimed he stoop so low to be with someone like me. Fine, you might be my friend but you never want what is best for me. Always trying to make yourself look like the victim. You took what I have always wanted and that’s supposed to be ok”
“Jimi never asked you out Esther, you forced yourself on him”
“Stop! Stop! Just stop it already, there’s no reason for you both to be having this argument right now because it is pointless.
You are in the middle of the road embarrassing each other, I mean c’mon enough of this nonsense. I don’t even see the point of this madness because he’s neither yours or yours to share, he with someone else. So please sort out your differences because the reason you are at each other’s throat is plain stupid and this drama is getting old, pls just fix whatever this is because fighting over a man is way beneath you …..both of you”
Simi was exhausted from the back and forth and walk out on them

Jimi felt uneased the moment his secretary told me that BJ was waiting to see him, they haven’t talked since the anniversary and that was months ago and now he was actually behere in his office waiting to see him, why would the almighty Bj come here
He had told his secretary to give him 5 mins before sending him in and now he was contemplating if 5 mins will be enough for him to gather himself
His morale flew to thin air, the moment BJ walked in to his office and took his seat opposite him
“What’s up brother”
What’s up, BJ never uses that word because he had thousand ways to start a conversation and this wasn’t how he starts any of them
“Hello BJ, how have you been”
“Am healthy… You”
“Good, am doing great. How are you settling into your new job”
“It’s quite challenging but am pulling through”
“You have done quite well for yourself man in a very short time am sure your folks will be proud of you…… Heck! Am proud of you”
“Thanks man…. I appreciate” he grinned
“Am glad you are happy with your life Jimi. I mean you worked really hard to be where you are today”
“Did I really work hard, I mean yeah the foundation has been laid down and I was going to be MD someday… I’ve been asking myself questions since we turned on our own paths, what if I had started something just like you did, do you think you it would have been successful”
“I know it would be successful.”
“With your help am sure it would”
“Hmmm” he scoffs
” I ask myself questions like what is the one positive thing Jimi has ever achieved with my help and realized… It’s nada.
I haven’t helped you out positively before and that’s funny because you ve always been there for me, through thicks and thin you are my brother and I failed you…. I am truly sorry”
“Bj You didn’t fail me, infact You never did all this while we’ve been living our lives the way we chose, I can’t play victim because I am responsible for everything that happened to me. You don’t have to apologize”
“But I want to”
“Well then you are forgiven, we can put all this behind us and start our lives afresh”
“Amen to that” Jimi chuckled feeling so relieved, his estranged relationship with Jimi has not exactly been easy they have been together for so long and being unable to meet at the same page was tough
“so how’s the club doing?”
“Good, we kicking off fast, my sponsors wants me to expand the place but am thinking of getting a new mini branch, sonewhere on the main land”
“Sounds great, here main landers are partying like crazy this days”
“Yeah so I heard, and I will love to give them a roof for that”
“That would be terrific…. Go for it”
“Thanks man… Honestly I’m glad you met that girl you know, it’s impossible for me to admit but she did buckle you up pretty well I didn’t think anyone was capable and f doing that”
“Neither did I” Jimi admits
” she’s just what you need and now that you have her… Don’t lose her”
“I won’t.” He affirmed strongly to it

Diana stared at herself through the mirror and almost didn’t recognize herself. She was wearing a lovely black dress that Jimi send to her along with a post card that says
“Wear this and look lovely for me tonight…. My lady ”
And indeed she was looking lovely, maybe a little extravagant… Marty had been on her tail since the messanger drop this off in a box this morning
By now she should be used to Jimi showering her with gifts but she couldn’t not when the present gift supersedes the previous. It was like an unending trail of surprises everyday it just keeps getting better and harder to reject
Jimi had gone from the earring, necklace gifts to paying for Abby’s school fees, she had been left dumbfounded when the school sent Abby’s receipt
Before the new year began, she has to find a way to get this thing with Jimi done with but it keeps getting difficult especially now that Abby calls him.. Daddy
It had sounded like a joke when Abby had started ratting about it like a child that she is but their relationship had grown from just a kid and the uncle next door… They connect so well and for some reason she had to keep this going at least for the main time for her daughter
Today something different is going on…. Jimi had sent her a dress in a package and sent her a text to get ready by 8:00 for their dinner date.. Sure over the last few months they’ve spent a lot time together going on countless dates
Soon they will be spending Christmas and new year with her mom. Before then Jimi has to be old news
Taking another good look at herself she had to recommend her friend, the makeover was almost too good she couldn’t even think of wiping it off… Marty would ki ll her.
A honk interrupts her thought as she lean to stare out the window there was a car parked outside but if it jimi he should be at the door by now.. Her phone dings and it was another msg from Jimi
‘Heyyy babe.
I hope you are ready cox there’s a chauffeur waiting to drive you down here ”
Just before she could text him back, Marty yelled from the living room
“Get your a$s out her Didi.. Your ride is outside”
“Am coming.”
Another glance at the mirror and she was good to go, she said goodbye to her family and walked towards the car, the driver was a tall guy in uniform, he opened the door and ushered her in after exchanging greetings
The ride was almost perfect and solemn music play in the background and Diana was starting to love the silence when the car stopped and the chauffeur opened the door for her
The place…. Happened to be an open garden where couples were dining, there’s a waterfall located in the middle of the garden and couples surrounding it. Another look at the place and Diana almost melt… A tag showed. GARDEN OF LOVE.
All the weirdness increased the moment she located Jimi standing by a seat at the far end wearing a tux… This is so weird, how on earth did they create a place this beautiful so natural as she head towards jimi she realize something was up
“Hello beautiful…. ”
Jimi closed the distance between them and ushered her to sit
“Wow Jimi…. What is this place”
“They call it love garden but it mostly a place for couples to rekindle their love and make promises to each other… All that kinda of stuff”
“Okay…. So why are we here
“Jimi smiled and whistled at the waiter that dragged a table towards them filling their table with all sort of delicacies
“That’s a lot of food” she shook her head in awe
“And I hope you have enough space to fill it in, coz we will have a lot to celebrate at the end of the night”
“Well don’t you think the tux is a little too much”
“Just trying to match up my darling.
You look fabulous tonight babe”
“Thanks… You look quite dashing too and you don’t need to measure up it’s just dinner”
“But that’s the plan to be fairly compatible with you”
Diana waves him off….
“Stop being silly but This place is……”
“I know ”
“Then why are we here. It’s a little too much”
“No it’s not, let’s just enjoy dinner like everyone else”
After awhile jimi wiped his mouth with a napkin
“I have something to tell you or ask you and this place seem perfect for it”
“Ask away Jimi… We don’t have all night”
“Relax babe, the night is still young”
“You think so”
Before she knew what was happening Jimi was learning forward on one knee stretching a small box forward which appears to contain a ring, Diana’s eyes almost gudge out from shock
“Jimi what the h’ll are you doing ”
she whispered
” People are watching… ”
And they were, people were slowing turning their attention towards them but jimi didn’t stand up
“Let them stare…. I want to flaunt you to the world…. ”
“Well stand up already Jimi. You’re creating a scene”
“I don’t care, Diana you are not just a random match for me, you are a special woman and since you stepped into my life, my life took a drastic turn. The things that I feel around you is completely out of this world, its strange, it’s new, it’s complicated and at the same time fascinating. You have no idea how bad I want to keep you and be with you. Every time I see you I just go out of it am completely lost and mesmerized by your intelligence and beauty.
I don’t know how long it took God to create a normal human being but am sure it took twice that time to create someone as incredibly special as you. You blow my mind away Diana”
“I get the point Jimi, You don’t have to be stupidly dramatic about it”
“Am already the most stupid person for wasting time trying to figure out why my hearts goes crazy around you and how I can’t stop myself from thinking about you all the time and somehow convincing myself that I am incapable of love.
I was lost until I met you, I am crazy about you Diana… I just dont want to play mind games because I have always been avoiding this for so long.
When I look at you I see stars. You represent hope for me, a new start, a new beginning. I want this to last forever
So I spend most of the first days in this new year wondering what my life would be like without you and I can’t even dare to imagine. It would be awful”
He turned to look at bunch of instrumentalists and they immediately started playing…. Perfect by Ed Sheeran
The giggling was louder and everyone was staring at them as if they were acting a movie
Diana was finding it hard to breathe.
Is this a dream.
Is this a prank
Then he went ahead to ask
“Diana Omotere Ebenezer…..
Will you marry me?
How did they get here.
Why was Jimi asking her to marry him in front of all these people
