Chapter Twenty Six
GRACE POV
It was the next day.
I was sick and bedridden. I was suffering from a terrible headache, a dry cough, sore throat and a tightness in my chest. My body too was hot and I wouldn’t stop shivering.
Mum said I had a fever and I caught cold, maybe that was why my body was shivering.
I sighed as I glanced up at the wall clock in my room. The time was 1pm and I didn’t go to Dylan’s house. I won’t be able to go there today.
Hmm…. My sickness probably helped me not to come in contact with Dylan. Yeah, I offended him yesterday, remember? And I don’t know if he is still angry with me or not.
“Hey, it’s Nancy!”.Miss Nancy said in a singing tone as she walked to my room with a tray on her hands.
She was dressed in a maid uniform which was a white and dark colored gown. She wore an apron too and her hair was covered in a chef hat.
“Am not hungry”.I mumbled as a feeling of tiredness wash over me.
She dropped the tray on a small table beside my bed before she sat on the bed.
“You should eat something or else you wanna remain sick, besides your mum instructed me to make you eat the food. So, you don’t wanna make me disobey her, huh?”.She said but her words made my head ache increase.
“Just drop the food, I will eat it later”.I force out a reply and covered myself fully with my blanket.
“No Miss Grace, I wouldn’t do that. I know that trick. My daughter always tells me that but yet whenever I drop the food, the food remains untouched”. She said with a slight laugh but I drew the blanket away from my face at the mention of ‘daughter’. The word took my attention.
“You have a daughter?”.I asked with surprise.
Miss Nancy is a young pretty lady but she is in her early twenties, maybe twenty one or twenty two years old. So hearing her say she have a daughter is surprising if not shocking but then, does she even have a husband?
“Yes….”.She cleared her throat, suddenly looking embarrassed. “Her name is Ella”.
She added but when she noticed I was about asking another question, she cut me off.
“Please Miss Grace, no more questions in fact no more words. That might affect your heath and increase your headache, so please, eat your food while am out. In fact, am leaving now”.She rushed her words and tried to walk out of the room. She was looking quite uneasy..
“Miss Nancy?”.I called her back but in a whisper.
I was glad she heard though cause she turned back to me with her body slightly shaken.
“Calling me Miss Grace don’t sound well to me, you can just call me Grace. Besides am single, everyone knows that, so you shouldn’t make it evident in my name”.I said and she breathe out heavily.
“Phew!”.She exclaimed, looking like a kid who successfully sneaked out of the kitchen after stealing some fruits.
“Is that all? Well, I actually thought you were going to say something I didn’t want to hear but since is that, I will make a change. You should call me Nancy too, we shouldn’t make our names sound professional”.She laughed and I let out a laugh too, though it was a quiet laugh.
“And I should be leaving now, I have to join those eating lunch in the dining room. So goodbye Grace, I hope you get better soon”.She said and with a smile hanging on my lips, I watched her walk away.
Though I was confused. Why was she looking embarrassed and uneasy with the talk about her child?
That was weird.

Authoress Prosper POV
Kyree was at home. He was on his bed lost in thought. He felt bad asking Jeanann for Grace’s number. He should have known how Jeanann would react to that.
Yes, he’d thought about her reaction before asking her to come to the Goodies but he never imagined how he’d feel when she get angry.
He felt sad, he felt bad, he felt heartless. He could still remember how she had stomped out of the restaurant, she must have felt pained.
Oh! What had he done?
He doesn’t even know why he was feeling this way for Jeanann, for the girl who had taken advantage of his beauty but perhaps, it was because he love her.
Yeah, Jeanann was his first love. He had met her when he was in Grade 9 at the swimming pool in school.
He was competing against a guy who said he was far more better than him in swimming so that was why they were competing.
Kyree had jumped into the pool while the guy did too but as soon as Kyree swam out of the pool, he saw an angel -Jeanann- she was staring at him.
That was when it all started but now, their relationship was close to being ruined just because of a stupid question he asked. No, he wouldn’t allow that.
Shaking his head slightly, he took his bike key in his hand and then he walked out of the house.
He had only one thought in his head which was going to Jeanann’s house to apologize to her.

Dylan glanced at his wristwatch the second time. Grace was not there and he was confused as to why she didn’t come but still, he was glad cause he had the whole day to himself.
Smirking, he grab hold of his cellphone and dialed a number. The receiver picked the call within few seconds.
“Boss…”.
“Prepare the old man boys who you guys caught the other day, I would like to pay a visit”.He said and ended the call before the receiver could make a sound.
He removed a pillow resting at the head of the bed before he took a pistol which was laying under it.
He tucked the pistol in his pant pocket and took his car keys before walking out of his room.
He ignored Mrs Skylar who he saw bowing at him in the living room (NB: Mrs Skylar is just a maid in the house nothing else, I actually don’t know if you guys are thinking something else but if you are, then please drop your thoughts on the comment box) and as soon as he got out of the door, he went into his car and put the car key into the ignition.
The car bounced back to life and Dylan felt a wave of pride as he drove the car out of the gate which had already been opened for him.
