Chapter Twenty Nine
GRACE POV
“You!”.Jasper pointed his finger at me angrily. “What are you doing here? Aren’t you tired of coming to this house?”.
He thundered at me making me flinch. I was not surprised by his action cause I know him to be bad tempered but why was he asking me that question? Wait! Does he think I enjoy coming here?
If not for this project, then I wouldn’t be here. I would have been at home taking a nap or something.
“I don’t understand!”.I sounded annoyed. “Don’t you know the reason am coming here or do you want to be reminded. Well, if you had forgotten then try to remember, just stop pissing me off”.I tried to walk pass him but he tugged me at my arm and spin me around to face him.
“You have gotten some nerves, huh? The little cub have grown into a lioness, Wow! Let me tell you Grace or whatever you call yourself, I know your plans. I know what your mission here is but just remember, my eyes are on you. Do you get that?!”.His eyes were red and with the way he tugged my arm, I felt like my skin was on fire.
I nodded dumbly feeling so intimidated. A lump has already formed itself in my throat due to the fear I felt.
Oh heavens!
He hissed, releasing his strong fingers from my arm and I sighed in relief before I quickly ran into the compound. I went straight to the house without looking back.
I felt scared….of Jasper. He is mean, arrogant, evil, unfriendly, just name them.
I didn’t understand what he was talking about. Mission, plans…what is he even saying? I was so confused..
When I stepped into the living room, I saw Mrs Skylar wiping the table. She was on a maid’s uniform this time around..
“Good morning Mrs Skylar”.I greeted politely and she turned to me, flashing a smile.
“Grace, Wow! You are here! Look at you…. You look so ravishing”.She said and I blushed a bit.
“Thanks, you look ravishing yourself”.I said and she chuckled but then silence followed. It was quite an uncomfortable silence and I was forced to talk.
“Mrs Skylar?”.
“Huh?”.
“Um, is Dylan at home?”.I asked with a little hesitation.
“Yes, he is at home”.She answered and I nodded a little before leaving the living room.
I got to the study room and pushed the door open but Dylan wasn’t in. Sighing, I walked in and sat on a seat waiting for him.
Twenty minutes have gone already but still Dylan haven’t showed up. He is at home, right? Then why isn’t he here yet or geez, is he still angry about the things I said the other day?
Oh dmn! Maybe he still is. So, what should I do when he comes? I should apologize first, right? But Dylan doesn’t look like the kind of person who forgives easily. Oh! What should I do?
Still in thoughts, the door flew open and Dylan walked in.
He was putting on a dark Tee shirt and dark pants. A dark hair band was on his head and his hair…Oh my! Was combed forward giving him that bad boy look. He always look bad anyways..
His dark eyes were bright and his lips were looking so pink, anyone would have thought he applied lip gross on them.
We continue staring at each other but Dylan broke the eye contact and went to sit on a seat.
Their was only two seats in the room which were around the only table in the room.
“So, what are we gonna do today?”.He suddenly asked and a low gasp ran out of my mouth.
He is speaking to me, right? Oh Jeez!
“Um, diffusion or haemolis?”.I asked, fondling with my fingers. Am so shy right now.
“Haemolis, I think that would be better”.I noticed his voice wasn’t cold or harsh.
I sighed.
“No, diffusion is better. Well haemolis is much better and doesn’t take time but we should first carry out diffusion which takes time”.I said and he mouthed an ‘oh’.
I brought out the materials needed for the diffusion experiment which was a beaker, crystal of potassium tetraoxomanganate and distilled water.
“What are we gonna do first?”.He asked and I stared at the paper given to me by Mr Kelvin.
“According to this note, the first thing we are going to do is drop the crystal of potassium tetraoxomanganate in the beaker containing distilled water”.I said and quickly wore my gloves. I then dropped the crystal carefully in the beaker.
“So now, we are gonna wait for two or three days for the crystal to spread throughout the whole of the beaker”.I said but gasped. “Geez! Today is Friday and that means we are gonna wait till Sunday or Monday. Well, we better hope it spreads before Monday”.
I added and turned to Dylan. He was smirking. Dylan and his smirk… Hmm!
“Should we carry out haemolis today or leave it till tomorrow?”.I asked him with a confused smile.
“We should carry it out today”.He said and I sighed lightly.
“Okay then. So the materials we will need are….”.I glanced at the paper. “Microscope, distilled water and red blood cells… Wow! This seems like if we are carrying out a medical operation”.
I chuckled at my own words but Dylan didn’t laugh neither did he smile. Well, what was I expecting? I have never seen him laugh or smile before.
Shrugging, I brought out a microscope and began with the experiment.
Dylan helped me add some drops of distilled water to the blood solution and then we waited for sometime.
After five minutes of waiting, I took the microscope to have a clearer view of what we did and to my surprise, the mixture has turn claret red.
Does that mean the experiment on haemolis worked out fine? Well, I don’t know..
I noted my observation in my notepad before turning to Dylan.
“I guess we are done with haemolis, I will definitely come tomorrow to check up on the work on diffusion”.I said but he scoffed.
“You are leaving?”.He asked and surprise crept up in my face.
“You don’t want me to leave?”.My voice was low.
“Not really. Just wanted to show you something in the library. You wanna come along?”.He said and with a deep breath, I said;
“Yeah”.
