Episode 13
Desmond’s POV
I kept looking around for me to see if I can see the paint but no luck as the rain is falling heavily.
I can feel myself getting weak as the wound I sustain is affecting me, and also I keep bleeding and i feel like sleeping.
The rain fell for almost four hours and it’s daytime already, all through the rain I was in the forest looking for a way but I couldn’t find any.
The rain finally stopped and I continue to look for a way out, I bring out my phone to call the inspector again and can’t find any signal on my phone.
I keep wandering in the forest only for me to meet myself back at the shrine.
” oh God…..what kind of place is this?” I said then I saw a big bus coming right at the place so I quickly find a place to hide.
” this must be the second group the girl was talking about” I said.
I saw the bus moving towards the shrine then it stopped and some men come down to inspect the place.
I can see them saying something to each other but I don’t know what they are talking about.
There are about 12 of them with guns on the hand and they are looking all over the place to look for the rest of their crew.
” Looks like my work here Is not yet done” I said then I bring out my dagger.
I really hope am strong enough for this cause I can feel myself getting weaker by the second.
I look for my first targets then I see one of them going over to open the bus they are keeping the girls.
I calculated my chances of getting to him without alarming the rest, since he’s the only one at the bus side and the rest are looking away finding the other.
I ran as fast as I could without making much of sound and as the guy was about to turn I sl1t his thr©at and lay him gently on the ground.
After he gave up the ghost, I looked into the bus and see about 20 girls inside then I draw him away from the bus into the forest.
I took his gun and take a deep breath then I remembered my training in the Army if we are in a situation like this.
I walked around the forest till I got to the position where I can target them all, then I targeted one of them and shoot at him and he fell down.
The rest of them see this and they started shooting at my position but I keep running around them in circle using the trees as my cover.
They keep on shooting as I ran and I targeted them one after the shooting then and they fell down dead.
I continue running and shooting at them at every opportunity I get and they also continue shooting back.
When it’s about two of them left they made to run towards the bus and I came out of the forest and shoot one of them in the head.
Then shoot the second on the leg and he fell down then I move closer to him, when he saw me coming he went for his gun and I shoot his hand.
” please don’t kill me…… I will tell you everything you need to know” he begged and I realised he’s the youngest of them I’ve seen so far.
” A young man like you taking part in something as evil as this, you are supposed to be killed” I said.
” please…..it’s…it’s because of money….I’m a graduate and I couldn’t find a job anywhere which is why I agreed to this” he said.
” so because you couldn’t find job…..lead you to do all this……because you’re suffering made you to commit to something devilish like this” I said.
” please….I’m begging you” he pleaded.
” fine…..I promise not to shoot you if you tell me how to take the girls out of this forest” I said.
” yes….yes…..there’s a way” he said.
” Good.” I said then stood him up and take him to the passenger seat.
I went to the bus and see the girls tied with their hands and tape to cover their mouths.
I untied them and remove the tape from their mouth and told them not to worry that they are safe.
I told them to sit tight then I went back to the front then drove out.
The guy directed me the way out of the forest and in about thirty minutes later we got outside and I heaved a very deep breath.
I keep on driving and after a while I started hearing police siren and I look up ahead and saw them coming.
Immediately they saw me driving the bus they turned their car around and followed me.

Author’s POV
(Two hours later)
The girls are at the precinct being checked on by the doctors to see if they suffer any injuries.
Their parents were rushing into the station immediately they heard the girls have been rescued.
” Glory be to God that the girls has been brought back home safely, Just yesterday we got a report that teen girls were abducted all around the city”
” This matter alone put the whole city in fright , something like this had happened about five years ago and till now the girls were yet to be found”
” A few of the girls that were kidnapped about five years ago are here with us at the police station”
” Thanks to the police department for their wonderful work to get the girls back safely back to their home”
” The girls are here in zoya police station, if your daughter is among those that are kidnapped quickly come over here and find out”
” Let’s talk to one of the girls and hear them out” the reporter said then went to meet one of the students.
” what’s your name?” the reporter asked.
” my name is Aishat Salami” the student answered.
” okay Aishat….. How do you feel?” she asked.
” I’m fine” the student replied.
” Good, can you tell us what happened and how you were saved” she asked.
” we were kidnapped when we are coming back from our school competition, and we were taken to a forest” the student said.
” what happened there?” she asked.
” they were going to rape us then the police officer saved us from them” the student answered.
” thanks for that,……let’s ask one of the girls that were kidnapped about five years ago” the reporter said and went to meet one of the young ladies.
” what’s your name?” she asked.
” Ayomide” the young girl replied.
” can you tell us what happen in the forest?” the reporter asked and the girl told her everything about the forest.
How she and the rest of the girls were kidnapped, how the people raped them countless times.
How the people use their baby as rituals and sold their parts and also how many of highest dignitaries came to buy body parts.
And also how the rest of them were killed as the result of that.
” I’m so sorry you had to pass through something like, it’s really a very bad thing for someone to experience”
” but we are glad that you’re safe thanks to the police department for their great Job” the reporter said.
” NOOOOO” the girl shouted which shocked everyone.
” why did you say no?” she asked.
” we didn’t see any police……we only saw one man that came to help us, and he single-handedly got us out of the forest” the girl said.
” but still, it’s the work of the police department cause a one man police represent the whole of police department” the reporter said.
” what’s the name of this police officer?” she asked and the inspector came forward.
” His name is inspector Adams, but he’s well know as…..MIA” the inspector said.
” MIA?…..I’ve heard of him, he’s very popular in Clifton City for his heroic deeds in the community”
” just about few weeks ago he got transferred from Clifton City, and he shows that wherever he goes he will always protect lives”
” the only Question is Where is MIA? ”

A while after Desmond drove into the station along with the rest of the police squad.
” he’s here…..he’s here” one of the girls shouted and they went to meet him.
He got down from the bus staggering cause of the wound he sustained.
The girls he saved all came down on the bus and went to meet their parent.
One of the officer went to the guy at the passenger seat and took him lock him in one of the cells.
The DPO came to meet Desmond and draw out his hand for a handshake.
” Weldone MIA, the police department is happy to have you” the DPO said and Desmond shook his hand.
” thank you sir” he replied then the rest of the officers saluted him.
” we better get that wound treated Sir, before it get infected” the Doctor said.
” okay” Desmond said and he made his way to the ambulance then the reporter came to him.
” wait wait wait” she said and he stopped.
” sorry to disturb you inspector….. I promise I’ll be fast” she said.
” what do you want to know?” Desmond asked.
” actually I want you to say something to the people concerning this” she said.
” all I wanted to say is that……we should always fight for what is right……and if there are any more bad people out there, they better stop or else we will be coming for them next….and justice will be served” he said.
” so you’re saying all the ritualist were dead?” she asked.
” I don’t know if they still remain but those I saw are dead……No evil people will go unpunished” he replied the he entered the ambulance.
As Desmond entered the ambulance the driver ignited the car and drove off to the hospital.

Desmond’s POV
(Next day)
I woke the next day in the hospital and I see my wound has been treated and bandaged already.
Then two ladies came in with one putting on white lab coat with a stethoscope around her neck and the other in white dress holding a tray.
” Good morning inspector” the Doctor said as she came closer.
” Good morning, how long was I out?” I asked.
” not long…..just a normal rest” she said then touch my forehead and my arm.
” it’s time for your injection” she said taking a syringe from the tray.
” what’s that?” I asked.
” it’s normal procedure for your treatment, so you can be up very soon” she said.
” how can I be so sure you’re not here to inject me to death, cause I didn’t see you here yesterday” I said and she stopped.
” I wasn’t at work yesterday and I will never do something like that to you or anyone…….why will I ever do such a thing?” she said confused.
” You can’t blame me…..a lot of people don’t like the way I operate……and I’m having so many enemies” I said then continue.
” I can’t trust anyone cause anything can happen at anytime……so I shouldn’t let my guard down anytime” I added.
” I understand you sir, but you should know there’s nothing to worry about, besides you are a hero to this community, one of the girls you saved is my family” she said.
” okay then, go on” I said and she injected me.
” thank you for everything” she said.
” you’re welcome…….what’s your name?” I asked.
” Anita, Anita Kingsley” she said.
” Thank you” I said.
” You’re welcome sir” she said then they went out.

(One Months later)
After I’m back to my normal self though I can still feel the pain but I know it’s only a matter of weeks.
The guy that I captured confessed everything about all those that came to buy body part from them.
I took some officers with me and we went to each and everyone of them and arrest them.
Some of them tried to deny it but some of the girl confirmed that they’ve seen them at the forest.
I made sure all of them were captured and they are all sentenced to 30years in prison.
People were surprised when they learned that the people they all know to be a public figure are the one behind all of this.
I later killed the guy that confessed with a knife since I promise not to shoot him.
You can’t do that kind of evil thing and still be breathing, only God knows how many babies they must have killed.
The DPO is not happy with me cause I’m getting lots of attention from everyone, which is supposed to be his but I didn’t let any of that get to me though I still have a bad feeling about him.
Some days later Inspector Johnson came to me but not in uniform.
” Sir, I wanted to tell you that I’m resigning cause I feel horrible about what I did” he said.
” Good, I’m glad you felt like that…..and also your decision about resigning is good cause what just happened would have cause a lot of children their life” I said.
” what you did, you’re supposed to go to jail for it but since you made amendment, you can be pardoned, hope you’ve found another job” I said.
” I’m working on it sir” he said.
” Good…..be safe and make sure you keep doing good” I said.
” I promise sir, thank you so much for everything, you are my Hero, I and my family owe you a great debt……whenever you need my help you can always count on me” he said.
” no problem ” I said then he hugged me and left.
I’m now popular in the city as well and I was presented a medal for what I did and given lots of gifts and also promoted to the rank of ASP(Assistant superintendent of police).
On that day, I get to meet the DIG that got me transferred from Clifton City.
” MIA, it’s nice to finally meet you” he said.
” SIR, same here sir” I said.
” you and I need to have a very serious discussion, we can’t do that here so I will send for you very soon” he said.
” Yes sir” I said.
” I have a proposition for you and I hope you agree to it” he said and I wondered what the thing is.
” Okay sir” I said then he left.
Woww I just met with the DIG he want to make me an offer, what could that be.
