Author’s POV
I just can’t believe what I’m hearing coming out from the DPO mouth.
” the case is closed and it’s going to stay that way.,… so let it be” the DPO said.
” SIRR” i said surprised.
” that’s just it……just leave it” the DPO said.
” but Sir, I have proof about the incident…….that’s all we need to nail the culprit” I said.
” whatever proof you have…..you need to discard it immediately……you don’t want to get involve in this” he said.
” but you need to give me a good reason before I can sir…….it seems you’re afraid of the boy” I said.
” it’s not the boy but the man behind the boy…….it’s seems you don’t know anything about Mr Donald Wellington” he said.
” Sir, I shall not fear anyone on Earth, I shall fear God and And God Alone, I shall not submit to injustice from any” I said.
” Sir, I took an oath” I added.
” And it’s part of the Oath for you to obey orders which is exactly what I’m telling you to do…….Leave the case” the DPO said.
” yes sir” I said then left his office.

Author’s POV
Immediately Desmond left the DPO’s office, the DPO called Mr Donald Wellington and after a while he picked up.
” Hello sir” the DPO said.
” So,….how did it go?” he asked.
” Sir, I’ve told him to step down from the case and I assure you he will never do such again” the DPO said.
” I really hope so….or else he will regret coming after my family……and you know if he do that it will everyone of you at the station” he said.
” he won’t sir……i assure you” the DPO said.
” is he going to be causing more problem in the city or we should get him transferred” he said.
” yes sir, only if that is possible” the DPO said.
” why did you say that?” he asked.
” The DIG himself brought him here, which might be difficult” DPO said.
” I will inform the minister about it….he will be transferred very soon” he said.
” that will be good” DPO said.
” Okay…..Goodbye” he said.
” Bye sir” the DPO said then the call ended.
” this boy is becoming a problem for me In this station, especially now that he got promoted, who does he think he is…….this place is not for you” the DPO said.

Desmond’s POV
I left the DPO’s office after the craziest conversation I’ve ever heard, how can the DPO be talking like that.
If someone like him could be scared how can he protect the community, how can he do his job as police officer.
I Don’t care about the boy or whoever his father is, all I care about is justice.
I went outside then entered my car then drove to Mrs idris house to relay the issue to her.
Some minutes later I got to her place and knocked on her door then her daughter came to usher me in.
” Good afternoon Sir ” the girl said.
” How are you?” I said.
” I’m fine sir” she replied.
” where is your mother? ” I asked.
” she’s in her room, please sit while I call her for you ” she said.
” oh okay… Thanks” I replied then sat on the sofa.
” what should i offer you?” she asked.
” don’t bother…. Thanks” I said then she went inside one of the rooms.
I looked around the place and my eyes fell on one picture that contain all them, they must be a very happy family and all of a sudden things like this happens.
What happened to them remind me of what happen to my family as well, some people just take pleasure in ruining someone else’s life without remorse.
The door opened and the girl came out along with her mother, and she smiled when she saw me.
” officer, I’m so happy you visit us” the woman said.
” Good afternoon ma’am” I greeted.
” Welcome sir,……..ehmm… Ayo, you didn’t offer him anything?” the woman askee facing her daughter.
” please ma’am, I’m the one that told her not to bother….. I’m okay” I said.
” are you sure? ” she asked.
” yes ma” I replied.
” okay…..how about the case?……did you find anything?” she asked.
” yes I did, I finally found the man who killed your son” I replied.
” really?…..who is he?….has he been arrested?” she asked curiously.
” it’s your son’s boss, Mr George Wellington and he admitted the crime” I said and they were shocked.
” oh my God, he should be jailed for eternity, why would he took my only son from me” the woman said crying.
” what was his reason?” the girl asked.
” there was an incident at the office concerning a murder, and your brother seems to witness it……in fear that he will reveal it to someone else he went to his house and killed him” I explained and they gasped in shocked.
” he is so heartless……he has no humanity……my son has been working for him for a very long time, how can he repay him like that” the woman said.
” I hope he rot in jail” the girl said.
” unfortunately, he’s not in prison” I said and they look at me confusedly.
” what do you mean? ” the girl asked.
” I have every evidence and proof to pin him down but I’m not allowed to do so by my superior, I’ve been ordered to back off the case” I announced.
” whaaat” they both said.
” how, how can they do something like that?…..this is so unfair, how can they treat us as if we are nothing” the woman said.
” I’m so sorry ma’am” I said.
” they kill my son and they are going to get away with it” the woman cried.
” it’s so unfair to us, my brother has always been the one that Cater for our needs, he’s my sponsor in school and he plans to open a supermarket for Mom in few weeks but now everything has been stopped” the girl said and I feel pity for them.
” what do you wish to happen to the man that killed your brother?” I asked.
” I want him to pay, I want him to be brought to justice ” the girl said.
” it’s okay, please stop crying” I said.
Some minutes later, I announced that I’m leaving and they escort me to my car, I apologize again for not being able to do as I promised.
I entered my car and drove back home to rest and think about what I’m to do next.
I showered and went to the kitchen to make something for myself to eat, then my phone started ringing.
I checked the caller only for me to see private call.
” seriously, I don’t like anonymous person ” I said to myself then went to get my laptop.
I didn’t pick the call as it keeps ringing…..i cracked the cell to know who owns the number and saw the DIG name as the owner so I answered it.
” Hello, DIG sir” I answered.
” how do you know I’m the one calling?” he said.
” oh please, I like to know who I speak with, and also I don’t like suspence” I said.
” you’re smart, I will give you that” he said and I smiled.
” thank you sir” I said.
” let’s meet up tomorrow…… I will send you the address of my house” he said.
” okay sir” I replied then the call ended.
what could this proposal be?……why would he wants me to meet him at his house and not his office.
Let’s see what all this is about and see how it Goes.

(Next Day)
After eating breakfast and getting myself ready, I went out and entered my car then drove to the street sent to me.
An hour and half later I got to the estate and after showing them my ID card I entered freely.
I keep driving till I reached the house which turn out to be a mansion, I honked and after a while two police officers came to my car.
” who are you and what do you want?” one of them asked and I showed them my ID card.
” SIR” They saluted immediately and opened the gate for me to enter.
I drove in and find a nice spot to park my car and make sure the camera is running well just incase anyone tries to pull a fast one on me.
I thought of bring a gun along with me cause anything can happen inside the house.
I don’t know what to expect from the man cause I don’t trust all this people in power, they are all dirty.
I decided against it and left it in my car then I entered the mansion and saw a woman with a girl that should he around 14 or 15 years old.
The woman must be his wife while the girl must be one of his daughter cause of the findings I made about him.
” Good morning ma’am” I greeted as I entered.
” Good morning my son, you must be MIA” she said smiling.
” Yes ma” I replied.
” My husband informed you will coming over, let me tell him you’re here” the woman said.
” thank you” I said and the woman went upstairs.
The house is beautiful and we’ll decorated as well, it reminded me of our house in Clifton City.
” hy….my name Lara Martins ” the said as she came closer to me.
” How are you Lara?” I said.
” I’m fine” she replied.
” well….. You can call me M…….”
” MIA….. I already know that…..you are quite popular on TV these days” she said interrupting me.
” well….so what do you think?” I asked.
” I think you’re cool, I mean the way you save those girl alone, everyone is talking about you” she said excitedly.
” really? ” I said.
” of course, I have been hoping to see since then and now I did, can we take a selfie together?” she asked.
” I’m sorry I can’t take pictures with you” I replied.
” why?…..i was going to show my friends that I’ve met you” she said.
” I’m sorry Lara, but it’s for your own Good……i can’t take a picture with you…… I hope you understand that” I said.
” okay” she said dejectedly.
Just then the DIG came downstairs along with his wife and I stood up immediately.
” SIR” i saluted.
” MIA……how are you?” he said.
” I’m fine sir” I replied.
” Welcome to my house……..I see you’ve met my family, please sit down” he offered and I sat down.
” what should we offer you? ” his wife asked.
” never mind ma, I’m okay” I said.
” Are you sure? ” DIG asked.
” yes sir” I replied.
” Okay then, I wouldn’t want to take much of your time, so let’s go to my office” he said then I followed him to one of the rooms.
As we entered I sat on the chair and he went over to his seat, I just can’t wait to know he wants to talk about.
” I know you must be anticipating to know about what I called you for” he said and I nodded affirmative.
” I’ve been taking note of you for quite some time now, and I must say you’re very good and the first I’ve ever seen in police department” he said.
” thank you sir” I said.
” I put cameras in your house and the next thing I know, you already removed them all” he said and it occurs to me that he’s the one that planted all of that.
” I don’t like people snooping around me, especially with what I got myself into” I said.
” I’ve made some research about you, you’re an orphan, your result in the police department is splendid, you have no family, you have no friends, no girlfriend……no one all by yourself” he said.
” woww…..you take your time” I said.
” I like to know the people I get acquainted with” he said.
” I’ve made some research about you too……sir” I said.
” oh really?…..so what did you find out? ” he asked.
” your father gave birth to three boy, you’re the middle man, your older brother is in the Army, Colonel Bright Martins, your younger brother is a veterinarian, doctor Isaac Martins, and you sir…..you have two daughters one is downstairs and the other is 24years old and she’s studying in Belgium as we speak” I narrated and he was dumbfounded.
” Oh my, You did your homework” he said and I smiled.
” I’m just like you sir, I like to know the people I get acquainted with” I said.
” Good, you’re smarter than I thought…..how old are you?” he said.
” 25 years sir” I replied.
” don’t you think you’re too young to gather so many enemies cause a lot of people are angry with you” he said.
” it’s not my problem sir…..they shouldn’t mess with me” I said.
” just one question though…….why did you kill them, I mean the criminals, instead of arresting them, it’s not proper in the police department to kill like that” he said.
” Sir all I did was in self defense, according to IPC section 120 state………murder for self defense isn’t a crime” I said.
” Self defense…….that’s the reason I heard you give all the time” he said smiling.
” maybe that’s what it really is” I said.
” alright then, let me tell you the reason I call for you” he said.
” I like what you’re doing in this city, it’s actually one of the reason I brought you from Clifton city……..a lot of criminal activity is being done in this city infact in this country” he said.
” which is why I need you to work for me” he said.
” work for you?…..but Sir…. My work is to the community, to the people not for one person sir” I said.
” I’m not taking your duty away from you……i want to assign you as a secret agent” he said and I was surprised.
” Secret agent? ” I said.
” yes….every DIG in this country has their own elite team except me…….which Is why I need a skillful officer like you…..Smart, fearless and not being tied to anyone, someone without weakness” he said.
” Sir, I fight for the people……i hate injustice in the system which is why I do what I do, I’m not afraid to go after any wicked person” I said.
” I understand your motives for this job…..you always want to do the right thing…….and never procrastinate” he said.
” I get it…….I’m also like that when I was at your age……that was my dream too but anytime I tries such thing……my family are threaten by them……this makes me vulnerable but someone like you without any ties to anything……there’s nothing they will have to pin you down ” he said.
” I hope this is not some kind of a trap…..i hate to find out that this is a kind of a way to ambush me” I said.
” you have to trust me?…..i will never do something like that” he said.
” if that’s the case why would you invite me to your house instead of your office?” I asked.
” because I want you to have my trust, I want you to believe me that all of this is not a trap” he said.
” you should know that I can’t trust you or anyone, I trust nobody” I said.
” I hope to earn that trust someday, so what do you say?” he said.
” what if your superior or other DIGs didn’t go along with you? Or your plans? ” I asked.
” which is why I want to have you as a secret agent, you will continue job as a police officer and but they will only know I have a man that carry out mission for me” he said.
” I hope what you’re saying is truth, cause if not…..you’re putting the life of your family in danger” I said.
” you have nothing to worry about” he said.
” Good, Then I’m in” I said and he smiled.
” you should know…..if you are going to do this you will acquire more enemies ” he said.
” I’m aware of that” I replied.
” you should know……if you’re going to do this you might die in the process” he said.
” I’m not afraid to die……fear of death only attract death itself” I said.
” Good…..You are now my one and only team……Agent MIA” He said giving out his hand for an handshake.
” thank you Sir” I said shaking his hand.
” I’m happy you agree to this……i will inform you when there’s a mission” he said.
” okay sir” I replied standing up.
” Whatever it is that you need…..i will be more than happy to help you out” he said and a thought came to me.
” yeah sir, about that I think there’s something you can help me with” i said.
” what is it?” he asked.
” I need a long range gun” I said.
” Sniper rifle huh?” he asked.
” yes sir” I replied then he went to a cupboard and search for a while then bring out a long box and put it on the table.
” This is M24, the bolt-action 7.62x51mm, it’s capable of 0.5 MOA accuracy to maximal effective range of about 800 meters” he said.
” perfect……just exactly what I need” I said to him.
” there’s something else you’re not telling me……..they don’t teach long range shooting at the academy” he said.
” I watch movies so I will do some training with it” I said then carry the box and the bullets.
” It’s not that easy boy” he said but i said nothing, he seems to be reading me.
” let me walk you out” he said and we left the room together.
We got outside to my car and put the box in the booth and turn to him.
” I guess I will be waiting for your signal” I said to him.
” be expecting it very soon” he said then I saw his daughter and wave to her.
” I guess you won’t tell me what you need the gun for” he said.
” there are lots of bad and powerful people out there, I need to visit them and make them angry” I said to him.
” I’m going to gather more enemies” I added and made to enter the car.
” Don’t die out there” he said.
” The only people dying are my enemies” entered my car and drove off.
