Episode 18
Desmond’s POV
I keep running away from the six men pursuing me, they never stopped shooting at me.
I know if I keep running I’m going to put the lives of civilians at risk by running into the street.
Then I decided to take on them one after other since there are only six of them.
I ran into one street and everywhere was silent, they must have gone back into their house when they heard the gunshots.
I hid behind a car and I see them looking all over for me, then I see an iron rod at the very place that I am.
I picked it up and take a deep breath then ran towards one of them then hit him and blood gush out of his head.
The rest turned when they heard his scream and started shooting but I use the guy as my cover.
They keep on shooting and I took the guy’s gun and shoot back at them and four among them was hit.
The last one tried to run away and I shoot at him also and he fell down, I dropped the body and move closer to them.
The five of them are still breathing and as I draw closer one of them tried to go for his gun and I shot him and he died.
I moved to the rest and kicked the gun away from them.
” Where is the ship heading?” I asked but none of them answered.
” I said where is the ship heading?” I asked again but got the same response then I shot them all and they died.
I was checking their pockets then I started hearing police siren, I turned and sew police cars moving towards me.
” Stop MIA, you’re under arrest” I heard one of the officers said.
” wait…..are you serious at all?” I asked.
” drop your weapons and keep your hands where we can see them” he said again and I did so.
” what’s the meaning this?” I asked then a woman walked closer to me along with some other officers.
” You’re under arrest, MIA” the lady said.
” You still haven’t answer my question, what’s going on? ” I asked the lady.
” My name is ASP Queen Onos, we received a report about you killing two police officer” she said and I was shocked.
” Whaaat, which officers are you talking about cause the last time I remembered shooting a police officer is three months ago or unless you’re about them” I said.
” How about the ones you killed today?” she asked.
” where are you getting this information?” I asked as they cuffed my hands.
” DSP Gbenga Adesola, informed us about the two officers that you kill and we speak every police officer in this city is looking for you” she said and I smiled.
” That clever bastard” I said to myself.
” how could you do something like this?……you that have a good reputation in the community already, when i first heard about it I find it hard to believe but looking at the dead body on the ground I have no choice ” she said.
” well Ma’am, you’re going after the wrong person” I said.
” what are you talking about?” she asked.
” I’m being framed Here cause I didn’t kill any officer, DSP gbenga Adesola is a corrupt police officer and now I’m going to add him among the collection of corrupt police officer that I will kill” I said bringing out my phone.
” check this out” I said then show them the video I recorded and their eyes bulged out when they saw it.
” Oh My God ” she exclaimed.
” yes, exactly………..and I’m going after him right now, so if you don’t mind uncuffing me” I said then she uncuffed me.
” what should we do?” she asked.
” the ship must have left port, so I need to go after it, where’s the nearest port here? ” I asked.
” I’ll take you” one of the officer said.
” Good” I replied.
” okay……what about the DSP?” she asked.
” I have an idea……call his line tell him you’ve arrested me at your station……immediately he arrived arrest him and if he proves stubborn kill him” I said.
” We can arrest him but we can’t kill him….we need higher rank order for us to do that” she said.
” Are you serious?……he didn’t need higher rank order before killing those officer” I said .
” We are just following protocol” she said.
” Who cares about protocol this days, let’s go officer” I said then I went to one of the police car.
I entered the car with some other officers and drove off going to the next port.
About one thirty minutes later we reached the port and ran to the admin office and requested for one of their ship.
” you will have to wait for two hour before we can get it ready, it’s late already” one of the captain said.
” Two hours?…….we can’t wait that long infact we have to go immediately” I said.
” I’m sorry” he said and sighed.
” did you have a boat……like a bow rider? ” I asked.
” only one is available” he said.
” good….. I’ll take it” I said.
” can you ride it?” he asked.
” No….i was hoping one of you will volunteer” I said.
” I will do it” the man behind it said.
” Thank you…….please let’s go now before they escape” I said.
” follow me” the man said and I went to one of the officer.
” give me your sidearm” I said then he handed his pistol to me, I check it and see that it’s fully loaded.
” Good……your knife too” I said and he gave it to me then I went after the man.
We got to where the boat is and I entered with him and he ignited the engine and drove off.
” where are we going?” the man asked.
” we are following a ship, it left at the abandoned port along caulcrick road, you can follow the lead from there” I said.
” okay” he said they continue driving.
The man continue driving for about fifteen minutes later but we couldn’t spot the ship.
” Sir, this is the way to the port but there’s no sign of ship here…… Are you Sure they pass here?” he asked.
” is there any other way they could’ve pass?” I asked.
” this is the only way they could’ve pass if they take off from the Old abandoned port” he said.
” then they must have pass through here so let’s keep going” I said.
” okay sir, but it’s going to be difficult finding them cause it’s very late and dark” he said.
” Just keep going” and he continue driving.
About thirty still on the water hoping to see the ship but no luck cause we didn’t see anything.
” Sir, let’s just go back…….it’s too dark….. I can’t even see where I’m going” the man said.
” fine…..let’s go” I said deplorably and the man made a u-turn and I saw a light on the water.
” wait……what’s that light?” I asked.
” I don’t know” he said.
” then let’s check it out……it might be the ship” I said then the man drove faster towards the light.
As we get closer I see it’s the same ship that I saw at the abandoned port.
” that’s the ship” I said then the man drove closer to the ship, I directed him to the side that has net.
” are you sure you can do this alone?” the man asked.
” I don’t know but I have to do this” I said then made to grab hold of the net.
” don’t go anywhere…….stay close” I said.
” okay sir” he replied then I climbed the net into the ship.
As I landed on the ship I move forward and I saw four white men on the deck talking and I move towards them.
” where are the kids?” I asked and the four of them stood up immediately.
” don’t even think of doing anything crazy ” I said as I noticed one of them about to go for his gun.
” I will ask again…….where are the kids?” I asked.
” Whatcha think you’re doing?….you think you just gonna come in here and do as if ya own the place…..hell no” one of them said and they all went for their gun but I shot two them and they fell down dead.
The remaining two follow suit then bring out their guns and started shooting and I hid beside the board.
I squat down and shoot at the two of them and they fall down dead, I move towards the stairs leading down.
As I was moving on the stairs I saw more of them with guns in their hands, I started shooting at them before they got the chance to Target me.
I killed the five of them I saw and continue moving stealthily, I saw two of them coming out from a corner and I rolled on ground then shoot at them both.
I look around to see if anyone of them around but found none, I went in search of the kids in the rooms.
I got to a door and found it locked then I kicked it open and I stopped as I saw one of the men holding a knife to one of the kids neck.
” So you’re just going to kill a five years old kid?” I said.
” I’ve got nothing to lose except my life….and if I’m going to die I have to take one of them along with me” he said.
” How about we do it this way……you and I fight and whoever wins takes the kids” I said.
” What about the police?” He asked.
” I’m alone on this ship?” I said.
” Fine but No guns” he said and I threw away my gun then he left the kids and came to the center.
He held tightly on the knife while I also pull out my knife as well and stand steadily then he charged at me.
I dodged his advances as I also charge back at him, I made the first cut at him which draw bl©©d immediately.
Then he attacked again and I dodged it then I rolled on the ground towards where I threw my gun and picked it up.
” But you said…….”
” Sorry I lied” I said cutting him off them shoot him four times and he fall down dead.
” I don’t negotiate with criminals” I said then went to where the kids are and untied them all.
” I want my mummy”
” Where is my mummy?”
” I want to go home”
” Don’t worry …..you will meet your mommy very soon…… I’m taking you to her” I said then went to the deck.
I went to where the pilot is but I didn’t see anyone controlling the ship then I went back to the deck and I saw the man still on the boat.
” Can you drive this ship?” I asked the man that came with me.
” Yes” he shouted back.
” Okay then” I said then throw him a rope ladder then he climbed in on the ship.
I took him to the control room and on his way there he saw the children and he was surprised.
” They kidnapped this small children?” He asked.
” Yeah, something like that…… let’s turn back and return them back to their parents” I said then he went to the control room while I went back to the kids.

(An hour Later)
We reached back at the Port and take the children down, I saw some other officers at the Port waiting for us.
We took the kids into the car and we drove to the police station from where the police came from.
As we got to their station I was everywhere rowdy and scattered, I got down from the car and the officers came to meet me.
” Go get the kids and give them something to eat” I said.
” Yes sir” they said and went to get the kids then the lady officer I saw earlier came forward.
” What happened here?” I asked her.
” We’ve arrested the DSP Gbenga?” She said.
” oh really……good I think I should pay him a visit” I said.
” While we are trying to do that he shot two of our officers, now they are dead” she said.
” Whaaat” I said.
” Even our DPO got shot on his arm, right now he’s at the hospital” she said.
” It’s your fault……I told you to kill him” I said.
” It’s because he’s our senior” she said.
” Senior my foot, did he consider you as juniors when he killed two of you?” I said.
” Now that he’s dead….I guess that settled it” I added.
” Actually, he’s not dead but he’s wounded” she said and I was surprised.
” whaaat……. what is he still doing alive?” I asked.
” He….. he’s……”
” Shut up…..he shoot at you without caring but you can’t return the favor?” I said to her.
” Where is he?” I asked.
” In the cell” she said and entered the station and started looking at the cell he’s locked in then I saw him on the floor.
” There you are” I said then he looked up at me.
” MIA, I see you made it back…….you’re one tough bastard, why can’t you just die, people like you die before you can enjoy all that you worked for” I said.
” Then I will die with honour not as a criminal like you” I said.
” You can’t save the kids……they are gone already” he said smiling.
” The kids are safe and your business partners in crimes are all dead, people like you don’t deserve to breathe the same with we breathe” I said bringing out my gun.
” You can’t kill me unless you received your order from a superior” he said.
” Do I look like I care” I said then shoot him three times and he died.

After everything is settled I left the station and went made my back to the Port to get my car.
It’s very late in the night already almost about 2 o’clock in the morning, I got to the Port and went to where I parked my car and I saw it there just as I left it.
I entered then ignited the engine and drove out of the Port, as I got away from the Port and entered the main road I saw some guys blocked road.
They are all on the bike most of them holding a machete, few of them are with guns, some are holding axe and others are holding knife,broken bottle and some other weapons.
They must be up to 30 of them before and picked my gun from where I kept it, I also bring out my dagger and set it beside me.
I put back my hand on the steering and press down on the accelerator and the car accelerated faster.
When they see this they moved the bike away from the road while some of them jumped away.
I hit about five of them that are unable to jump on time while I crunch some of them.
I looked back and see them coming after me, the ones with guns started shooting at my car which broke one of the glass.
I drove faster as they keep getting closer with their bike then I decided to go for them instead, then I spin the car around.
As I spin around the car hit some of them then I started shooting them, they also continue shooting which cause all my glass to break except the front windshield.
I continue shooting them and they fall down dead then I ran out of bullet, I quickly remove the cartridge and put another and continue shooting at them.
I used my car to hit some of them and shoot at those that are still breathing.
I lied down in the car as they continue throwing bottles and stone and i got down, I continue shooting and they with cutlass came after me.
About ten of them are left and they see they don’t stand a chance they ran all ran away.
I walked towards the dead ones to see if I can get the reason they came after me, I checked their pockets one after but found no clue.
As I was about to head back to my car then I heard a phone ringing, so I traced the sound till I saw the phone.
The caller ID says Wellington Boss and I was surprised.
” Wellington?……I already killed Wellington then who is this Wellington?” I asked myself then I picked the call.
” So how did it go?” I heard the voice of a man asked then I realized it must be the father of the boy I killed two days ago.
” It didn’t go well, cause the person you’re expecting is dead, along with the rest though few ran away” I answered then he became silent.
” You sent this thugs after me….. trust me you want to make me your enemy, your son just died so I will let this slide but if I noticed you’re still coming after me…..you will hate yourself” I said then end the call.
I brought out my phone and saved his number on my phone just in case of necessity, I know someone like him won’t stay down.
I looked around to make sure the coast is clear then i went back to my car and drove off.
