Episode 29
Desmond’s POV
The helicopter reached the destination I got down, and took a cab to the address given to me.
Few minutes later, I got to the address and saw that it looks like a warehouse, so I knocked and someone came out.
As he saw me he looked surprised and must be wondering what I was doing here.
” who are you? And what do you want?” the guy asked.
” I’m Agent Blackbird……..DIG Martins sent me” immediately I said that he was shocked.
” oh….I’m sorry, please come in” he said and I entered.
” thank you” I said.
” I’m Agent Shawn by the way” he said gesturing his hand for a handshake.
” nice meeting you ” I said.
” I thought you’re like a real reverend ” he said.
” I’m glad you thought so ” I said moving forward then I saw four more people inside the place.
” Heyy guys……..this is Agent Blackbird” the guy said.
” This is agent Johnson, agent Kenzo, agent Blake, and agent kareem” A. Shawn introduced.
” nice meeting you guys” I said shaking them one after the other then I sat down.
” Alright……..i believe you know your mission and exactly what to do, but first we need to discuss the extraction plan” A. Shawn said.
” okay……how do we go about it?” I asked.
” First, we will arrange your passport and your yellow card cause you will enter the country by Air” he said.
” Air?……can’t we do it by road? ” I asked.
” you could, but if you try to go by road……it’s a 24 hours drive and you have to cross three borders and before entering the country” h he said .
” and by the time you reach there you will have a very limited time as your 72hours is already counting” he explained and I realise he has a point.
” Alright, Go on” I said.
” the plane will take one hour for you to reach there, you will board a bus to this address ” he said giving me a paper with an address.
” when you get there, you will meet a man then show him your ID card then he will understand, he will give you the car you need” he said.
” woww….long journey, go ahead” I said.
” When you get the car go straight to Kouloun village, that’s where your real mission starts, you have to find them on your own” he said.
” I understand ” I said.
” Good, after that……your way back will be by road, you will have to cross the border but don’t worry we are making some call which will allow you safe passage” he said and I sighed deeply.
” All you need to do is to cross the Ghana-Togo border then you will be safe all through, then you will cross Cotonou-Togo border then Lagos-cotonou border” he explained.
” okay, when do i leave? ” I asked.
” we have to prepare your passport and some other things, so in the next two hours you will leave ” he said.
” okay” I said.
” alright then let’s begin” he said.
” Smile” Agent Blake said then he took my picture with his phone.
” what name should we put?” he asked.
” Reverend Paul Kiersten ” I answered.
” okay……we will be back ” agent Blake said then he went away.
While they work with the passport and others, I started thinking about everything altogether.
Their plan seems easy but I hope it is cause I don’t think this is going to be easy.

(Two hours later)
They’ve got my passport ready and my ID card, I put it all in my bag and then entered their car as they drove me to the airport.
” Here, if you need anymore information call me through this number” A. Shawn said giving me a paper containing his a phone number and I nodded.
They took me to a private plane and I settled down, they bade their goodbyes and the pilot took off.

LOCATION : ACCRA, GHANA.
Two hours later the plane landed and I got off and I realise it’s evening already then made my way out of the airport.
I took a cab to the address given to me and when I got to the house I knocked and a man came out.
He looked me from head to toe and I could see in his eyes that he was wondering what I was doing at his place.
” who are you? ” he asked.
I didn’t say anything I just showed him my ID card and he got the message immediately.
He entered back into his house and gave me a car key.
” I’ve been waiting for you for a while now……..that’s the car” he said pointing to Cherokee jeep, 2003 Limited Edition.
I took the keys from him and went straight to the car, I unlocked then entered.
I ignited the car right away then drove off, I used the Google Map as my direction to Kouloun village.
On my way to Kouloun village which is about one hour and 45min drive, I looked for a Catholic Church around the vicinity as part of my plans.
I found one then parked my car at a corner then went into the compound, it seems there’s a program going on in the church.
I saw two Nun walking by then I went to them and when the saw me they turn and stopped.
” The Lord be with you, sisters” I greeted which is the normal greeting.
” And with your spirit Father ” the responded.
” I’m sorry we’ve never seen you here before, are you one of the guests” the first one said.
” Uhmm No, Actually I need a favor from you” I said.
” What favor?” they asked together.
After meeting with the Nun I went back to my car and continue with my journey to Kouloun village.
When I got to the village it’s already getting dark, I got to bridge but I can’t go any further cause a car can’t cross a wooden bridge which means I will have to go on foot.
I find a nice and secluded spot to park the car, then bring out my laptop then tried to locate them through their phone.
I look into my bag and search for the number the DIG gave me call the line and immediately one of the girls picked up.
” Hello, who is this? ” I heard her said in fear.
” I’m A……..” I’m about to say then I heard a disconnecting beep.
I quickly trace them to find their last location and after a while I got their location which is a few miles away from where I am.
I linked their location to my phone then tucked my gun under my gown and grab some cartridge.
I know people will be wondering what a reverend doing in a village which will even aroused suspicion so I pull it off.
Those reverend Father are carrying one heavy garment, after pulling it all off, I stuffed it inside my bags.
I took a deep breath then got down from the car and made my way into the village, I can see thugs parading the village.
” Oh Boy, this people mean business” I said to myself as I see them on bikes even on bicycle, all because of two ladies.
I continue making my way into the village following the location on my phone, some people were staring at me but I ignored them.
I keep taking note of the thugs as I passed them, they are very free and carrying guns in the open without fear.
I continue walking till I got to the location on my phone, and the place turn out to be an abandoned building.
I look around to be sure that no one is following me and since it’s dark already it made it easy as I made my way into the building.
I entered the building but I didn’t hear anything not even a sound then I pull out my gun.
” Blessing Aderogba, Amara Ukwudi……..i know you are in here, I’m agent Blackbird from Nigeria, I’m here to rescue you ” I said but I didn’t see anyone.
” The IGP Mr Ayodeji Richards sent me over here, you have to believe girls…….we don’t have much time” I said then after a few seconds I heard footsteps.
I switched on my phone flashlight to confirm their identity and I see that they are indeed the one.
” are you the one that called earlier?” the fair one asked.
” yes but it got disconnected so I had to track you” I said.
” the IGP sent you?” the dark one asked.
” Yes, and we have to go now” I replied and they both ran to me.
They enveloped me in a hug which made me confused whether they know me before.
” you have no idea happy we are now, we actually thought we are going to die here” the dark one said.
” so you’re that scared, you know how dangerous it is to be a spy and you went for it anyway” I said.
” it’s not our fault, it’s the nature of our job besides the money is alot ” the fair girl said.
” Money?” I said then I put a call through to the DIG then picked up.
” Blackbird” he said.
” Package secured, extraction in progress” I said.
” Good job, but remember this is extraction, that is the mission ” he reminded.
” Copy that” I said then ended the call.
” Now we need to get out of here” I said.
” How are we going to do that?, they knew we are still in this village which is why they are still around” the fair one asked.
” the place is crawling with thugs, I don’t see a way we are getting out of this place which will be easy ” the black one said.
” then we will have to get out the hard way” I said then I lead them out of the building.

Author’s POV
Desmond lead them out of the building and when they get to the open which is crawling with thugs Desmond whispered to the girls.
The girls catch on quickly and they all started acting drunk, kssing Desmond and Desmond reciprocated.
They passed some of the thugs cause they fall for it and they continue acting that way.
” Heyy Waitt” one of them said but they didn’t stop.
” I said wait or I’ll shoot you ” the guy said again which draw the attention of others and Desmond and the girls stopped.
” Don’t flinch, when I tell you to run, you are going to run like hell” Desmond whispered to the girls and they nodded.
” Yo dude” Desmond said as the guy came to them, then put the touchlight to their faces.
” Aren’t they beautiful my man? ” Desmond said as he slowly made a move to his gun.

Desmond’s POV
Immediately the guy see their face he wanted to shout then I grabbed by gun and shoot him right on his head.
” RUN” I shouted as I noticed the rest of them are after run.
I turned back and shoot at them then continue running after the girls, all the thugs are now onto us as they keep shooting right at us.
I turned back continue shooting them killing them as well as we make our way, those on the bike are now getting closer at us.
” Go go go go go” I said to the girls as we made our way out of the village, then we saw some of them coming in front of us.
” come here……i know a shortcut” the fair lady said then we ran into the bush, I turn back and see them still on our trail.
They never stopped shooting at our position and I also continue shooting them and after a while we reached the wooden bridge.
” Let’s go, let’s go, my car is at the other side” I said as we ran across the bridge.
The thugs also came out of the bush then I continue shooting at them, killing them as they came out of the bush.
I ran after the girls till we got to where I parked the car then hide behind a tree as the people are shooting continuously.
” enter the car and drive, I will cover for you” I said then continue shooting at the thugs.
This time around they are many it’s like the whole town is after us, immediately the girls entered I entered the back.
” Now drive” I said to the black one and she drove off, I look back and see them still coming after me.
” Faster, we need to get them off our back” I shouted then continue shooting at them at them.
” we can’t shake them off, they will continue coming after us, their men are all over the city ” the fair one said.
” what do you suggest we do?” I asked.
” we need to get to somewhere safe and hide, so in the morning we will leave” she said.
” No, No,…..we can’t rest, we can’t stop ” I said.
” that’s the only way we can survive, these thugs only have much power in the night, there’s nowhere we go we will always see them…….they rule the night” she said.
” she’s right,…but if we leave in the morning they can’t move as they wish, they are also trying to be discreet” the black one said.
” so you’re saying if we move in the morning they can’t attack us?” I asked.
” yes…….we will only have to deal with the police cause they are also working with the police” she said.
” but not to worry,….the police won’t be at the border, we just have to pass the custom officers” the fair one said.
” Fine I know a place, Keep driving towards this address” I said giving her the address of the man who gave me the car.
An hour later I realised we are getting closer to the house.
” Drive to a very dark place, we need to ditch the car, so they can’t trace us” I said.
We were able to shake them out of our trail and we parked the car in the bush, I grabbed my belongings and we left the car then running.
We reached the address and after a while the man came out and was surprised.
” what are you doing back here?…….this isn’t what I signed for” the man said.
” we need your help” I said.
” this isn’t what we agreed on……bringing trouble to my doorstep ” he said.
” they are not following us but if you don’t let us in they might spot us and it will then become trouble” I said then he looked side ways before letting us in.
We entered and the girls sat on the couch while I went to the window to be on the lookout for any surprises.
” what’s your plan? ” the man asked.
” we need to pass the night here and we leave very early in the morning ” I replied.
” just that? ” he asked.
” uhmmm…..we are going to need another car” I said.
” there’s no car, unless you want to take mine which I’m not giving ” he said.
” you will have to give, and I promise you will be rewarded handsomely for your help” I said.
” Fine, Do you girls need anything? ” he asked.
” I need to bath and eat then have a nice nap” the fair one said.
” that can be arranged ” he said then went to his kitchen.
” I don’t think it will be too nice cause we will leave at first light” I said.
The girls showered and the man fix something for them to eat, I refused to eat anything while I continue to be on the lookout.

(Morning)
Immediately it’s dawn I woke the girls and we prepared to leave, the man gave us his car keys and we left immediately.
Just like the girls said the thugs are not on the road then I I drove for some hours before we reached border but when we got there it is something else.
There are lots of cars on a cue being thoroughly inspected by the custom officers.
” oh oh……looks like they’ve been informed” the black one said then I bring out my phone to call A. Shawn.
” Hello” I said immediately he picked.
” Blackbird….are you at the border?” he asked.
” of course, but the loot on their faces is not friendly” I said.
” Now i know the reason you’re calling, at first we had it coveref but one of our men says that something urgent came up” he said.
” so what do I do now?” I asked.
” get away from the border and hide till we sort it out” he said.
” sht……i hate this” I said then ended the call.
As I tried to turn the car around I realise there are cars behind us already which make it impossible.
” uh uh…..we are surrounded” the black one said.
” what do we do now? “.
