Episode 40 (Final)
Author’s POV
(Evening)
The DIGs called all their special agents together, the six of them having a unit of the their agent.
All 72 agents gathered at the facility and waited for instructions from their seniors, DIG Peters came up to address them.
” Welcome all of you, I know you must be wondering why you all are summoned together cause it has never happened before”
” There is a threat which needs to be taken care of, you all are here to take on the mission together ”
” The leader of each unit please come forward ” he said then six agent stood up and went to him.
” Special Agent Ayoola segun Segun, SA Edema Joshua, SA Lucy Bridget, SA Chike Emeka, SA bidemi Jacobs, SA Aishat Muhammad, I welcome you all”
” I need to let you know what we are dealing with here, this man is the threat I’m talking about” DIG Peters said showing then the picture of MIA.
” A police officer?…….i knew the guy” SA bidemi Jacobs said.
” he’s not just a police officer, he’s also an agent, he has been working secretly under the radar” DIG Peters said.
” what happened?” Agent Ayoola asked.
” he gone rogue, he was sent on a mission to retrieve something very important, after retrieving it, he wanted to keep it for himself ” he said.
” what is our order?” SA Ayoola asked.
” retrieve the file from him and eliminate him…….is that clear?” DIG peters said.
” Yes Sir ” they said.
” just so you know, don’t underestimate him……he’s clever, cunning and smart so watch your Six ” he said.
” Also one more thing, you’re to go to his place in the midnight and make sure you’re not recognised, I want this to be on a low key” he said.
” Yes sir” they said.
” and if any of you get fallen during the mission, clear it up we can’t have anyone know we are behind this” he said.
” yes sir ” they said.
” Good now prepare yourself ” he said.
He left them and went back to the conference room where the rest of the DIGs are waiting.
” how did it go?” DIG Williams asked.
” They are warming up and they are all ready for it” DIG Peters answered.
” You have no idea what’s coming, do you?…….you all just signed your death certificate” DIG Martins said.
” I have 72 highly trained agents going after him, I doubt you will ever see him again” DIG Peters said.
” You want to stab the devil in the back, and force him into the darkness, You incinerate the priest temple and burnt it to the ground”
” if he manage to survive what do you think he will do, If I were you I’d watch my back” DIG martins said.
” It’s not too late for you to stop all this, you can still stop this from happening” he added.
” Now I think you’re just saying all of this to scare us just to stop us from killing him, guess what,… it’s not working” DIG Martins said then DIG Martins phone started ringing.
DIG Peters took the phone from him and he saw that the caller Is his wife.
” it’s your wife” he said.
” let me speak to her, she must be worry sick” DIG martins said.
” if I were you I’d know what to say or else you will be performing their burial next remember we have men in your house ” DIG Peters said then gave him back his phone.
” hello” he said immediately he picked the call.
” Heyy, we’ve been at home for the past 6 hours we haven’t seen you or heard from you ” Mrs Martin said.
” I’m so sorry, I had to come to Abuja for a very urgent meeting” he said.
” when will you be back?” Mrs Martins said.
” tomorrow” he replied.
” okay bye” she said.
” yeah you too, be careful ” he said then ended the call.
” Good, you just save their lives ” DIG Peters said collecting the phone from him.
” Give me back my phone” he said.
” I think I’ll hold onto it till the mission is successful, I don’t trust you” DIG Peters said.

(Midnight)
All the agents gathered together to set out for the task at hand.
” Listen everyone, this man we are going against is not just any ordinary man, he is highly skilled, professional, deadly, and extremely dangerous so be smart around him” Agent Ayoola said.
” The advantage we have is that, he is going to be outnumbered, and he doesn’t know we are coming”
” so let’s be swift with it, we will go in do the job and come out with any problem, it is as simple as that” he added.
” Now let’s head out” he said and they all troop out of the facility and they took a helicopter to Hanford City.

(Few minutes later)
They got the FIIB facilities in Hanford City and they all packed themselves into almost 15 cars and drove to SHAMLA PROVINCE.
They all arrived at MIA street at about an hour later and they are few blocks away from his house, and every is silent no one could be seen.
” Alright people, you know the drill……go in do the job and come out without make a fuss……..i don’t why they have to send all 72 of us but let’s get this done anyway ” SA ayoola said.
” Alright, Unit 1 and unit 2…….the 24 of you will do the job, if you need back up inform us through the comms” SA ayoola said.
” Unit 1 and 2, move out” he said and the 24 agent move stealthily towards Desmond’s house.

Desmond’s POV
I was on my bed sleeping when suddenly my phone woke me up, I checked it and was surprised to see it’s the burglar alarm.
” Someone must have trigger the alarm” I thought.
I went to the window immediately and was surprised to people jumping into my compound.
The way they carry themselves shows that they aren’t civilians, it’s shows that they belongs to an organization.
” 1, 2, 3, 4………….23, 24″ I counted quickly.
” woww, 24……welcome to my house” I said then close the curtain.
I went to my closet and quickly put on a trouser and some clothes, then went to where I kept my guns and bring out the two guns and tucked it under my belt.
I went out of my room and went up to the mini storey and cocked the sniper rifle and ready for action.
There’s no light in the parlour which makes it dark but It’s my house I can see everywhere.
I waited for them to come in and after a while, I heard a glass shattered and I see them entering through the window.
They all entered and started looking around everywhere, two of them made to go into my room.
I targeted the two and shoot them one after the other, when the rest saw this they all hid behind my couch.
” Idiots, a couch can’t stop a bullet” I said them targeted the couch and shoot there.
I heard scream and the rest started shooting but they don’t really know my position.
I targeted them one after the other and shoot at them all, about five of them want to make a run for it and I shoot them down.
“Piece of cake” I said.
I came out of the place and went to check on any survivors but unfortunately none of them is alive.
” Amateurs, you come into the lion’s den uninvited……….well the last dog that tried such thing became it’s dinner” I said then I went outside to check but see no one.

Author’s POV
” unit 1 come in”
” Unit 2 do you copy” agent ayoola said through the comms but no one answered.
” Unit 1 do you copy ” he said again and got the same response.
” Unit 3 and unit 4……move in and be aware of any surprises” He said and another 24 agents went in.
They entered the compound just like the first two unit, and immediately they did they trigger the alarm again and Desmond knew immediately.
He quickly went to check and he saw them entering the compound.
” Again?……..who are you people? ” Desmond said then went to the sniper rifle and get ready for them.
Just as they entered they saw the others dead on ground.
” Unit 3…… what’s your Status?” Agent ayoola said through the comms.
” We are in the house,……looks like he knew we are coming cause the first two unit are all dead”
” Whaaaat…….open your eyes wide, I will send back up after you, a few minutes later” Agent ayoola said.
” copy that ”
” Unit 5……ready to move out and be vigilant……w
ait for my instructions” agent ayoola said.
Desmond waited for all the second 24 agents to enter the room then he targeted them.
He shoot at two which fall down dead immediately, the rest started shooting at his position.
Desmond tried to shoot again then he ran out of bullet.
” well I guess, I will have to use the little ones now” he said then pull out two pistol gun.
He came down stairs and started shooting with both guns, he was able to kill three more.
Desmond continue shooting at them and they also continue shooting back, they hid behind the wall.
Desmond kill two more then he ran out of bullet from the two guns, the agent see this as an opportunity then they rushed him with guns.
Desmond rolled behind the couch and pick up the two guns he kept under the couch, they left their hideout thinking they got him.
But They got surprised to see him pull out another gun and continue shooting at them.
He was able to take down five more remaining just 12 of them.
” Requesting for back up, I repeat requesting for backup ” the leader of unit 4 called it in through the comms.
” Alright Unit 5 move out” agent ayoola said then the agents moved towards his house.
Desmond heard one of them calling for back up then he wondered how many of them are out there then he decided to get out of the house.
He continue shooting at them and he was able to kill three more then he ran out of bullet.
He ran into the kitchen, the agent went after him shooting and a bullet hit him on his shoulder.
” aaahhh ” he shouted as he got to the kitchens this made the agents to press harder on him.
Desmond open one of the cupboard in the kitchen and pull out another two pistol, then as the agent rushed into the kitchen he killed five more of them.
The remaining four agents move back to wait for backup, Desmond was breathing heavily and he stood up.
He went out of the kitchen and shoot the four of them, he went into his room then put his laptop in bag.
He went to his bathroom then bring out another gun and tucked it under his belt.
He pick up his car key then went out of his room, he can hear footsteps right outside the door.
He decided to take the back door he went to his backyard, then turn around to get to his car.
He saw two of the men outside the house just beside his car then he moved closer to them and shoot them both.
He went to the flower jar and pick up another gun then quickly entered the car and ignited the car, the agents that are inside came out when the heard a gun shot.
They started shooting at the car then Desmond drove out of the house bursting his own gate.
As he was driving he didn’t know he’s driving towards agent ayoola and the rest who blocked the road with their cars.
Immediately he saw them he press the brake pedal, He bring out his gun and started shooting at them.
He quickly make a U-turn then ayoola and the rest shoot back at his car which chattered the car glass.
It that encounter a bullet hit him on his chest but he continue driving, as he drove back the others from the house also shoot at him.
He was able to kill two of them but then another bullet hit him by the Side and he grunt out loudly in pain.
He manage to drive away but agent ayoola and the rest pursued him with their cars.
Desmond saw them through the side mirror seven cars and he noticed them pulling out their gun and shoot at his car.
He tried to drive the car around to avoid being hit, one of the car was getting closer as he rushed him with guns.
Desmond pull out his gun and use his left hand to shoot at the car, he shot at the car tire and the lose control and it hit a wall.
As they reached the bridge agent ayoola target his car tire then shoot at it but unfortunately he failed.
He tried three more times then at the last time the bullet hit the tired and Desmond lose control.
He tried to balance the car as it’s in full speed but unfortunately the car lose control and it somersaulted for couple of seconds then it stopped.
Agent ayoola sent three agents to check it out and the agent get down from the car and move towards the car.
Desmond groaned out then he realised the car is upside down, he tried to pull himself out and he realised his left arm is broken.
He saw footsteps coming towards his car, then he reached for his gun and just as the three of them got closer he shoot them till he ran out of bullet.
He pulled himself out of the car and realised not only his arm was broken he also wounded his right leg as well.
He manage to stand and tried to run away then the agent draw closer and point their guns on him.
” you’re one stubborn bastard, MIA……..you cost me alot of men today,……this is your end” agent ayoola said.
Then he shoot him four times on the chest and he staggered and fell from the bridge into the river.
Agent ayoola pulled out his phone and dialled DIG Peters number and he picked immediately.
” what’s your status?” DIG Peters asked.
” Mission accomplished, MIA is dead, I repeat MIA is dead” he said.
” really?……are you sure?” DIG Peters asked.
” Very sure sir, cause I personally loaded the bullets in him” he said.
” very good, very good…….what about the file?” DIG Peters asked.
” we still haven’t do that sir, things didn’t turn out as easy as we thought ” he said.
” what are you talking about?” DIG Peters asked.
” before he died, he took down five unit out of six” he said.
” whaaat, how is that even possible? ” DIG Peter said surprised.
” I don’t know Sir, the guy is damn stubborn to die, so what do we do now?……..the police will be crawling the place as we speak…..what’s our order ” he said.
” we will find a way to get the file out of the house, the rest of you should head back, I will take care of everything ” DIG Peters said.
” okay sir” he sir.
” Weldone, Agent ayoola” DIG Peters said then ended the call.
” Alright Guys, Let’s move out” agent ayoola said then the agents all drove off.
There was a boat at the bank of that particular bridge and the driver witnessed all that happened.
Immediately the agents drove off he jumped into the river and swam towards where he is then pulled him out.
He dragged him to the boat and lay him on the boat.
” Oh My God, it’s really you” the driver said.
” MIA Sir ” he said shaking him but got no response.
As he made to start the boat Desmond coughed out blood and groan weakly, he couldn’t move his body.
” oh my God, you’re alive……..let me take you to the hospital ” he said then Desmond grabbed his clothes.
” No…No…NNO Hospital ” Desmond said.
” you will bl.eed out if we don’t get you to the hospital very fast” the driver said.
” La…Lagos, this river….does it lead to lag…os” he asked.
” yes…..but why are you asking? ” the driver said.
” Take….Take me to Lagos?” he said.
” That’s three hours,…..You will die before we reach Lagos” the driver said.
” Just take me there” Desmond said.
” Ahh Alright…..whatever you say but if you die, you die out of your stubbornness ” the driver said then start the boat and drove off.
” uhgghhh” he groaned and breath heavily as he felt himself getting weaker.
” Whoever you are and no matter how many you are”
” I WILL BE BACK ” .
