Episode 33
Desmond’s POV
” You’re all suspended”
” Please sir, forgive us” they begged just then the ASP I saw yesterday walked into the station and was surprised to see me.
She looked at me from head to toe and she figure out who I am immediately without asking questions.
” SIR” she saluted.
” You must be the ASP here?” I said.
” Yes sir, ASP Janet Richards” she said.
” I don’t have anything on you at least not now, show me my where my office is” I said.
” Okay sir” she said.
” The rest of you get on with your work” I said then I followed her.
I followed her along the hallway till we reached the office with a D.P.O signpost on it, she opened and I entered.
” How can you allow your men take things like that, for example what happened to me yesterday” I said.
” I’m really sorry about that, actually it wasn’t our fault, we’ve been going through a lot this past few months, this gives them the tension to react the way they did” she said.
” I understand but that doesn’t mean they have to prey on innocent people all because they don’t get to catch the bad guys” I said.
” I’m so sorry sir, please pardon them” she said.
” Fine, you can tell them they are pardoned and let this be the last time something like that happen” I said.
” Thank you sir” she said.
” Bring me the file about the missing kids, it’s the main reason I was brought here” I said.
” Okay sir” she said then left.
Few minutes later she came back with the files and lay it on my desk, I took the file and looked into it one after the other.
” when was the last time anyone report a missing person? ” I asked.
” Sir, it’s three months ago” she answered.
” what about before then?” I asked again.
” it’s three months before the last one” she said.
” so let’s put it that it’s in every three months, the kids get missing ” I said.
” it seems so sir” she said.
” so that means, we should be expecting them this month or probably anytime soon” I said.
” has anyone report any kidnapping lately?” I asked.
” no Sir……..it’s been clear, we’ve got nothing ” she said.
” then be at alert, send out some team to different part of the street, and be vigilant of any weird activities” I said.
” okay Sir ” she saluted then left and I continue looking into the file.

(Afternoon)
There was a knock on my door and I told the person to come in and the ASP entered.
” Sir, there are some people outside…….they reported about their missing friends” she said.
” whaat…..where are they? ” I asked.
” they are outside Sir ” she said.
” Let’s go” I said then went out along with her.
We get outside and I saw people at the counter mostly students, and two elders among them.
” Excuse me ” I said gesturing them to come over to me and they did.
” Can you please tell what happened, one after the other?….you go first” I said pointing a woman.
” Sir, My husband hasn’t come home since lastnight……i tried calling his number several times but it was switched off” she said.
” did he tell you where he was going?” I asked.
” He never did, though I called some of his friends, only one of them told me they went to a club and they never left together ” she said.
” which club did he tell you? ” I asked.
” Novak Club” she said.
” did he tell you anything else? ” I asked.
” nothing…..all that they got separated and he never see him again” she said.
” don’t worry, we will find them…….give the officer his picture” I said.
” how about you? ” I asked pointing to a young lady.
” Sir, my roommate left the house lastnight and she never returned till now” the young lady said.
” when you called her what was the response?” I asked.
” it was switch off sir” she said.
” did she tell you where she’s headed? ” I asked.
” No Sir, she just told me she wanted to collect something from someone ” she said.
” what was her mode of dressing? ” I asked.
” it looks like she’s going somewhere important” she said.
” did she have a boyfriend? ” I asked.
” yes sir, but he’s not staying here, he lives far away” she answered.
” what kind of person do you think your friend is?, I mean what do you think about her?” i asked and her countenance changed.
” I’ll suggest you tell the truth cause that’s the only way we can find her” I said.
” I think she’s seeing someone else, someone rich ” I said.
” do you know the person? ” i asked.
” No, she never talked about it” she said.
” When has this been happening?” I asked .
” Some weeks now, maybe months,” she said.
” hmmmmm, give her picture to the officers, we will work on it” I said.
I asked the others and they all told me the same thing though in separate ways but it all look the same.
Six people were kidnapped, an adult and five youth and The only clue we have on some of them is Novak club, and a college party.
Also everything happened last night which means, if they are kidnapped at least someone would’ve seen them which can only means they left willingly.
This could be a spiritual things we are dealing at, maybe they must’ve compel them with something for them to follow quietly.
I sent the ASP to check out these places, to collect every details on them, to check the CCTV cameras in that area.
To asked everyone who was at the party and paste the picture of the missing people everywhere in town.
” what kind of city is this? “.

(Few hours later)
I was in my office waiting for the report from the officers I sent out including the ASP.
I checked the record of people missing last three months it’s only five people, the last three months before then was six people and now this it was six again.
” what is their game? ” I said to myself then I heard some entering the ASP’s room and I thought she must be back.
I went out of my office and went straight to her office, I opened the door only for me to see a young girl of about seven years old in school uniform.
” who are you? ” I asked surprised.
” Sofie, who are you? ” she asked back.
” Mike, what are you doing here? ” I asked.
” I’m waiting for my mommy” she said then it occurs to me she’s the ASP’s daughter.
” ohh your mommy……she will be back very soon and if she is tell her to meet me in my office” I said.
” okay, nice to meet you Mike” she said.
” same here darling ” I said then went out.
I was heading back to my office then one of the Sergeant came to me.
” Sir, another person came to complain about a missing person” he said.
” whaaaat?…….let’s go” I said then we went to the counter and I saw three young girls.
” Hey, tell me what happened” I said.
” Sir, my friend left the house lastnight and she never came back” she said.
” Lastnight seems like alot happened last night ”
” did she tell you where she’s headed? ” I asked.
” she told me she’s going to a club, she told me she will be back this morning but I didn’t see her, we are having exam in school today and she didn’t show up ” she answered.
” which Club?” I asked.
” C$J club” she answered.
” did she tell you who she’s going to meet? ” I asked.
” there’s this man she always went out with, the man called her yesterday and she went to meet him” she said.
” who is this man? ” I asked.
” I don’t know….. I’ve never seen him before” she said.
” what about his name? ” I asked.
” she never told me,……but I know the man is her….su.. ”
” She’s her what? ” I asked as she refused to complete her sentence.
” the man give her money anytime they meet up ” she said reluctantly.
” you mean sugar daddy?…….what’s wrong with you girls?…….you’re in school your parent are out their suffering all because of you to be something in life”
” but still you went about doing as you wish immediately you got to school, you let money ruin your life ” I said angrily.
” instead of you to repay them kindly for the great job they did over your life instead you put them in worry” I said.
” they must be at home now happy that their kids are in the university, they work hard to earn money so you could afford things in school”
” they look up to you as their investment in life but you just shattered everything and put them in darkness” I said.
” you reached school and turn out to something else entirely, all because you want the luxury that the others have” I said.
” Now tell me, when have they been going out together?” I asked.
” Two months ago” she said.
” Give the officers her picture, we will do something about it” I said then went back to my office.

(Few minutes later)
The ASP came back from where I sent her and she came to my office immediately.
” SIR ” she saluted as she entered.
” c’mon in……how did it go? ” I asked.
” Sir, this people are very discreet, we found nothing, there’s no CCTV camera around that place, even at the place the college party took place” she said.
” including the club? ” I asked.
” Not even the club sir, we asked some people around but none could identify any of them” she said.
” woww…….this doesn’t look good” I said.
” I have an idea, but first I need to ask you something” I said.
” what is it sir? ” she said.
” I know you’re older than me and the only way I senior you is by rank, so let’s drop everything, can I trust you?” I asked.
” Yes you can” she said.
” I just have to ask that cause I don’t trust any of you, it’s my nature don’t take it as something else” I said.
” I understand ” she said.
” Good…..I’ve been thinking about this since morning, and I decided the only way I can do this…….is if I can go as an undercover ” I said.
” undercover Sir? ” she asked.
” yes, being a police officer people won’t open up freely to you to tell you those little hint, and those little hint can actually solve a case” I said.
” okay Sir, whatever you need” she said.
” one, I need you to cover for me here…..don’t tell any of the officers what I intended to do, and two, I need a falsified ID” I said.
” falsified ID?” she said.
” yes….. Is that going to be hard?” I asked.
” No Sir, what occupation? ” she asked.
” Journalist, I need to go undercover as a journalist “.
