Desmond’s POV
(One weeks later)
For the past few days I’ve been working on my strength and stamina for me to be fit before I resume back to work.
Since I’m fit now I’m going to the office to resume work, I got dressed then grabbed my gun and went out to the parlour.
I gather my laptop and other things then put it in my bag, after eating breakfast i went out and drove off to the station.
Few minutes later I arrived at the station and I parked at my spot then went into the station.
” SIR” they saluted immediately I entered.
” hy guys” I said.
” Welcome back sir” one of the officers said.
” thank you…..and good job for what you’re doing here” I said.
” thank you Sir ” they said I then went to my office.

Few minutes later while in my office a knock came and the ASP daughter Sophie came.
” Hey, Sofie” I said.
” hi mike” she said then sat on the chair.
” aren’t you supposed to be in school?” I asked.
” we have midterm break ” she said.
” oh really……where is your mom? ” I asked.
” she went to pick up something so I came to play with you ” she said.
” woww…..that’s lovely, what should I offer you then” I said.
” Nothing…..I’m okay ” she replied.
” okay” I said.
” I saw you on TV” she said.
” ohh….yeah, I was solving a very crucial Case” i said.
” I also saw that you’re wounded, how do you feel now? ” she asked and I smiled.
” I’m fine, that’s very lovely of you to ask” I said then a knock came on my door.
” please come in” I said then the ASP entered.
” here you are” she said when she saw her daughter.
” Hy mommie” Sofie said.
” Good morning Sir ” the ASP greeted.
” morning” I replied.
” Hope she’s not disturbing?” she asked.
” Nah….she’s fun to be with, she’s a great kid” I said.
” I just came to greet you welcome back” she said.
” thank you ” I said.
” alright sofie, let’s go” she said then Sofie went with her.
” uhmm sofie, would you mind waiting for your mother in her office, I’d like to have a word with her” I said.
” okay” Sofie said then went out and the ASP came to sit before me.
” what I wanted to say, it’s an advice not an order but I’d if you can consider it ” I said.
” okay sir” she said.
” why do you bring your daughter to the station?” I asked.
” it’s because there’s no one she could stay at home with ” she said.
” what about her father?” I asked.
” We are apart, we are divorced” she said.
” ohh, sorry to hear that…….the reason I’m saying this is for her protection ” I said.
” if you’re going to do a job like this……you can’t be seen with your daughter or else they might use her as leverage against you” I said.
” you know the kind of job we do, so I want you to think about it” I said.
” thank you Sir, I’ve thought about it but she wouldn’t stay with anyone except me” she said.
” what about your parent?” I asked.
” they are not staying anywhere in this city ” she said.
” how about you get an apartment not for them around this city, not too far from your place just in case you want to visit ” I said.
” okay Sir ” she said.
” if money is gonna be the problem, I’m happy to help” I said.
” No Sir, not at all…….i will do as you say” she said.
” thank you” I said.
” No Sir,…..you thank you……you’re very kind” she said.
” you’re welcome ” I said then she stood up and left.

After she left my phone started ringing and I check the caller ID and it turn out to be the DIG.
? ” DIG, sir” I said.
? ” MIA, how have you been? ” he asked.
? ” I’m fine sir” I replied.
? ” I need to have a word with you” he said.
? ” ohh……is everything alright?” i asked.
? ” it’s concerning the last mission we talked about” he said and I sighed.
? ” Sir, I told I ca…..”
? ” I understand, when you refused the mission……they sent few of their own to carry it out and unfortunately they were killed and a civilian was taken hostage” he said.
? ” oh God, you said it’s not dangerous” I said.
? ” that’s what I thought in the first place but it looks like there are some other people involved” he said then I think about my sister’s wedding.
? ” how long is the mission gonna take? ” I asked.
? ” it depends on how fast we work on it,…..probably in two or three days” he said.
? ” fine……how do we do this? ” I asked.
? ” come over to my place today……i will fill you in ” he said.
? ” Alright Sir ” I said then ended the call.
Since my sister’s wedding is still next month that I means I still have a lot of time before then.
I grabbed bag and my car keys then went out, I told the ASP I need to go somewhere very important, I got into my car and drove off.

(An hour later)
I arrived at the DIG’s house then I showed the officers my ID before they let me in.
I drove in and parked the car at a spot, I got down then went inside the house and I met the DIG at the parlour .
” MIA, welcome” he said.
” Sir” I saluted.
” I see you’re still home alone” I said.
” Yeah they aren’t back yet…… probably in few days” he said.
” Okay…… let’s start” I said.
” let’s go to my office ” he said and I followed him, as we got to his office I sat down.
” so what’s the mission all about?” I asked.
” There was a shipment heading here in Nigeria through the sea but there was windstorm which claim lives of those in the ship” he said then continue.
” The container is now in an unknown place but we don’t know where that is, only the captain of the ship knows the whereabout” he said then continue.
” but unfortunately the Captain died but before he died he put the location of the container and everything about the property of the container into a flash drive” he said.
” what is inside the container?” i asked.
” we don’t know…..we have no idea, probably something valuable” he said.
” he also put a password to the flash drive keep it in a safe in that country” he said.
” which country?” i asked.
” A bank in South Africa, in a town called umtata, we don’t know the password so we have a hacker to crack the code” he said.
” we called you last week to accompany the hacker but since you reject the mission, we choose two agents to go with him” he said.
” They’ve gotten the file and on their way back they were being pursued by some dangerous terr©rist and some hours later then we didn’t hear from them ” he said.
” how do you know they are still alive? ” I asked.
” they aren’t, only the hacker alone is alive” he said.
” and how do you know that? ” I asked.
” before they left…….the hacker put a camera lens in their eyes, which will enable us to see everything going on” he said.
” the other two agents camera are disconnected remaining the hacker alone, my guess is that they needed him to open the file for them” he said.
” whatever is inside the container must be very important and the terr©rist must know what that is” I said.
” you’re right, we have to beat them to it before they got it” he said.
” how will I know his recent location when there’s no way I could track him” I said.
” Before the agents were killed we are able to know who the terr©rists are, there camp is in the forest in a place called Ngolo” he said.
” it’s a foreign country, whatever we do we need to be discreet enough and attract no attention ” he said.
” you’re the best man for this job, and the other DIG knows that as well” he added.
” I’m doing this because of you Sir, not because of them and if anything goes wrong with this, I’m holding you accountable” I said.
” you have nothing to worry about, there’s a private plane to take you to and fro, there won’t be any trouble like last time” he said.
” I hope so ” I said.
” so tell me what will you be needing for this mission?” he asked.
” Nothing, I still have my pistol gun……i will just take more cartridge of bullet” I said.
” I was hoping you will ask for a rifle or some automatic guns” he said.
” Nah……you said discreet, carrying a gun like that in a foreign country is not discreet” I said.
” okay then” he said then went to one of his cupboard and bring some pack of cartridges.
” Go to the FIIB facility an helicopter is waiting for you over there, it will take you to Abuja the national FIIB office in Abuja, a private plane will be waiting for you” he said.
” the plane will take you to the airport in umtata , the K.D. matanzima airport, you can start your mission there ” he said.
” remember they still haven’t know who you are…….so keep it like that” he said.
” Alright” I said taking the cartridge from him.
” Be careful MIA” he said.
” yes Sir ” I said then left the office.
I went to my car then drove out of the house, I went home immediately to start preparation.
On my way home I head over to the boutique to get my costume for my next mission.
I looked for the perfect one I could use and I go for Chef, I bought two pair along with the cap then left the place.
I got home then bring out my phone and dialled the ASP phone and she picked immediately.
? ” hello Sir ” she said.
? ” Heyy……i have to tend to something very important and I won’t be at the office tomorrow” I said.
? ” is everything alright?” she asked.
? ” all is well, just take care okay” I said.
? ” alright sir” she said.
? ” bye” I said then ended the call.

I checked the time and see that it’s just 11:00pm which means there’s still time, the flight distance to South Africa is just 6 hours.
I added a mustache to my face then put on an eyeglasses, and I wore the chef costume and the cap.
I bring out my bag and put the things I will be needing, Guns, laptop, my favorite toy and some other things.
After getting everything I need, I went out lock my door and left without taking my car.
I took a cab to the FIIB facility and after some minutes I got there and the security guard asked for my identification which I told him before he let me enter.
I went inside the facility and everyone was staring at me, I went to the SAC office and he looked at looked at me weirdly too.
” Do I know you?…….it’s like I’ve seen you before” the SAC said.
” yeah you have…….I’m Agent Blackbird” I said.
” OH, yeah of course, but why on different outfit, last time it was a reverend and this time a Chef” he said.
” Different outfit for different occasions, and besides i like to make an entrance everywhere I go” I said.
” you’re one weird guy…….please follow me” he said and he took me to the helicopter floor.
I entered the helicopter and bade the SAC goodbye then the helicopter took off to Abuja.
Some minutes later the helicopter reached the FIIB facility in Abuja and I got down.
I went into the facility and meet with the SAC of the facility, at first he was confused by my look then I told him who I am before he believed.
Without wasting anymore time they took me to the private plane and entered, after some more minutes the pilot took off.

(Six Hours Later)
Location : Umtata, South Africa.
The plane landed at the K.D. matanzima airport in umtata, I got down and proceed out of the airport.
I checked my time and it’s few minutes to six, I can still begin the mission today, I stopped a taxi then I entered.
” Uyaphi?” the taxi driver said and I don’t understand what he said.
” I’m sorry I don’t speak your language……. Do you speak English?” I asked.
” English go” he said.
” I need to change money, money…. Change” I said bringing out a naira note.
” Change change?” he said.
” yes….. Change change…..whatever” I said then he ignited the car and drove off.
After a while we got to a place and he took me to the bureau the change and I changed the naira note with me to their currency which is Rand.
I changed about #100,000 and I was given 4,300 Rand and some cents, we left the place and went back to the taxi.
” Take me to a Hotel…..a hotel” I said.
” okay” he said.
After a few minutes later he stopped then turned to me.
” Hotel” he said and I looked at the place and realised it’s indeed an hotel then I paid him.
” enkosi enkosi ” he said waving at me which I’d say it mean thank you or bye bye.

I entered the hotel and went straight to the receptionist.
” Wamkelekile kwihotele yethu ” the receptionist said as I got to her.
” I’m sorry I don’t speak your language…….do you speak English?” I said.
” ooh….I’m sorry sir,…i said welcome to our hotel” she said.
” okay, I’d like a room” I said.
” Alright sir, how many days sir? ” she asked.
” Two days ” I said.
” okay sir…..that will be 800 rand” she said and gave it to her after she recorded everything she showed me to my room.
I entered the room then set my things down and get ready for the next move, I took off my chef uniform and opened my bag.
I bring out my gun and insert the cartridge, I wore the cartridge belt then insert more cartridge.
I take my favorite toy with me just in case it come handy, after getting everything set, I cover up with the chef uniform.
I left the second pair of the chef clothes in my bag cause I’ll be needing it for the second part.
I checked my wristwatch and it’s few minutes to seven, since it’s night already it will only make my work here easy.
I left my bag and laptop in the room then left, I went out of the hotel and board a taxi to Ngolo which is where they are holding the hostage.
” Let’s get this over with” I said.
