Desmond’s POV
” whaaat, you’re resigning?” Mom said surprised.
” yes mom……..i want to stop” I said.
” Why Desmond?…….hope it’s not because of me…. Or because of what I said……i told you I only said all that out of anger” Vickie said.
” No Vickie, it’s not because of you or what you said” I said.
” then Why?…..why all of a sudden?” she asked.
” See……the main reason I became what I am is because of Mercy, and now I’m going to stop because of Mercy” I said.
” I found Mercy, not just Mercy but Goodness and Mercy ” I said and they smiled.
” Are you sure about that? ” Mom asked.
” Yes mom……..I’m sure” I replied.
” Thank you son ” she said.
” Have you informed your boss about your decision?” Vickie asked.
” Not yet but I will when I go back to Hanford city next two weeks” I replied and she came forward.
” I’m so happy for your decision ” she said and hugged me.
” Thanks “.

I’ve been planning on what I’m going to do if I stopped being a police officer, I don’t have any other experience except war.
I know I’ll figure something out very soon, I was still at it then Goodness came into my room.
” Hey…..you need anything?” I asked as she entered.
” No I just came to stay with you” she said.
” uhmm, what class are you in your previous school?” I asked.
” Basic Five ” she replied.
” well very soon, you will be registered to one of the best school in the Area, and you will continue your studies” I said.
” Thank you ” she said smiling.
” Anything for you darling ” I said.
” I heard you saying you’re going somewhere by next two weeks” she said.
” yes, I work in Hanford City as a police officer…….i need to go back and clear my table” I said.
” you’re coming back right?” she said.
” of course, that’s what I’m doing……I’m coming back so we could all stay together ” I said.
” okay…….but do you mind if I asked you a question?” she said.
” of course……go ahead” I said.
” who is Mercy?…….you keep referring to her” she said.
” She was my sister” I said.
” Was? ” she asked.
” yeah…….she died four years ago, she was actually Grace’s Twin sister” I said.
” What happened to her?” she asked.
” I just came back from my Tour and she and my dad came to get me at the hotel, on our way back we were attacked and they didn’t make it” I said.
” I’m sorry about that” she said.
” nah…..it’s fine, I’m just glad I found you and your sister” I said and she came to hug me.
” Thank you” she said then I heard a knock on the door which turn out to be my sister Vickie.
” Heyy” I said.
” Hope I’m not interrupting anything ” Vickie said.
” not at all, just a brother and sister discussion ” I said smiling.
” I’ll go play with sister Grace” Goodness said then she left.
” She’s a great kid” Vickie said.
” yeah she is” I replied.
” uhmmm….. There’s something I need to tell you” Vickie said.
” Okay……what is it? ” I asked.
” Umm, I met with one of my schoolmate at the hospital ” Vickie said.
” what do you mean?” I asked.
” the guy was in my class when I was studying at the university, and we met at one of the functions we had at the hospital ” she said.
” Did he recognized you?” I asked.
” Yes, he came to meet me and called my name as in Victoria” she said.
” what did you do? ” I asked.
” I denied it and told him he got the wrong person then I got away from him” she said.
” Did he believe you? ” I asked.
” After I got away from him, I caught him staring at me” she said.
” What’s his name?” I asked.
” Hassan Al-Kareem, Dr. Hassan Al-Kareem” she said.
” is he dangerous?……is he a threat?” I asked.
” I don’t think so………when we were in school, he looks cool” she said.
” Do you want me to meet him and find out what he knows?” I asked.
” No, no need…….i think he’s just confused especially when I’m supposed to be dead ” she said.
” Fine…….if anything comes up, inform me immediately ” I said.
” of course ” she said.
” how is your husband?” I asked.
” He’s been great, he’s been around when you’re being a jackass” she said smiling.
” c’mon that’s not cool” I replied smiling.

(Two weeks Later)
After I had my bath I got dressed and prepare to leave for Hanford City.
” I’m ready mom, I’ll be back by tomorrow or the day next” I said.
” alright Son…… Be safe” she said and we embrace each other.
” come back safe brother” Grace said.
” I will ” I replied then went to kiss the baby’s forehead.
” Be careful ” Goodness said.
” I will kiddo” I said then I went out, I entered my car and drove off.

(Few Hours Later)
I got to my apartment in Shamla province then I settled down and after a while I started writing my resignation letter.
After I’m done with the letter I put a call through to DIG Martins to inform him.
” MIA, I’m glad to hear your voice ” he said.
” same here sir” I replied.
” I heard what happened, Great Job ” he said.
” Thank you Sir, Actually Sir……..there’s something I need to tell you” I said.
” Okay what is it? ” he asked.
” I wanted to inform you that I’m resigning” I said.
” oh, wow that’s……sudden” he said.
” Yes sir………i decided to stop” I said.
” Have you spoken to my brother? ” he asked.
” The Colonel?” I said.
” Yes” he said.
” No, not since two weeks ago…… Why?” I asked.
” He had a discussion about you just a few minutes ago?” he said and I was confused.
” about me?……what? ” I asked just then my I saw another incoming call from the Colonel.
” I’ll call you back Sir, it’s the colonel ” I said.
” okay ” he said and I disconnected the call then pick the Colonel’s call.
” Hello Colonel” I said.
” Blackbird……..how you doing? ” he asked.
” Great Sir ” I replied.
” Hope you’ve seen the news about the man you wanted to trash?” he said.
” Yes sir, I’m really grateful for that” I replied.
” About the favour you owe me, how about you pay me back now” he said.
” Pay you back?……how?” I asked.
” I want to have you on a covert operation ” he said.
” Damn” I said within.
” Sir…… I was just telling your brother just right now that I’m resigning?” I said.
” oh you are?…….i didn’t know that, it’s just that we need your help about something very important and we could really use your help ” he said.
” But don’t worry, if you say you’re out…… It’s fine, don’t worry about the favour ” he added.
” Damn……. why now” I muttered.
” Fine, what’s it about?” I asked.
” Come over, we will brief you up on that” he said.
” How long is it gonna take?” I asked.
” Hopefully it shouldn’t be too long, let’s say two months ” he said.
” when? ” I asked.
” I’ve told my brother to arrange a chopper for you” he said.
” Alright Sir, just so you know………This is my last mission ” I said.
” Copy that……. I’ll be expecting you” he said then ended.
I put a call back to the DIG and he picked up immediately.
” I assume he already fill you in on that?” he said.
” Yeah, your brother is one cunning man” I said.
” I’m sorry Mike, but if you want me to talk to him, I could ” he said.
” Nah, it’s okay……i agree to do this ” I said.
” Are you sure? ” he asked.
” Yes I am Sir” I replied.
” Alright, Your ride will be waiting for you at the Facility” he said.
” Alright sir” I said then ended the call.

” Damn, why now?” I said frustratedly.
Well I guess I have no other choice but to do this, I made a promise it time I hold to my end of the bargain.
I scrolled through my phone and dialled my mother’s number which she answered after few rings.
” mom” I said.
” Desmond, I’ve you reached there? ” she asked.
” yes Mom, I did but some unforeseen circumstances occurs” I said.
” what happened Desmond? ” she asked worriedly.
” I don’t think I’ll be back like I promised, something came up and I need to do it” I said.
” is everything okay? ” she asked.
” everything is fine mom” I said.
” will you be okay? ” she asked.
” Yes Mom, I’ll be okay” I replied.
” okay dear, come back safe” she said.
” Sure” I replied then ended the call.
I went to my room then start packing all my stuff, I don’t intend to coming back here after the mission.
I attached the beard and mustache then put on a suit this time around, I don’t have much time to go on costume.
I packed my laptop and all my toys then some few clothes and after that I went out to my car.
I put it all in the trunk then entered my car, ignited the engine and drove off to FIIB facility.
Not long after I got the the facility, I wasted no time as I entered then went to the helicopter floor.
I showed them my ID card then hop in then the pilot took off immediately. The helicopter took me to the Army base in Plateau.
The helicopter landed inside the base and I took my thing and get down, I saw the Captain from the last time coming over to my side.
” Welcome blackbird, I’m so glad you could make it” the Captain said.
” I’m glad to see you too” I said as I went with him.
” After we got away from the terr©rist, we went back for you but it seems you took care of it all” he said.
” I had help from the two soldiers you sent with me…….They were a great soldier ” I said.
” Yes……..come the Colonel is waiting for you” he said then we went to the ops center.
We entered and I saw the colonel sitting down and two more soldiers with him.
” Colonel ” I said.
” Blackbird, you’re welcome ” he said.
” So I’m here, what’s the detail of the party?” I asked.
” Alright let’s straight to the point” he said then start operating the computer then a picture came out.
” This is Mr Felix Jackson, He deals in fake product which is p©isonous and send it to Nigeria which cause a lot of death all around every part of Nigeria ” he said.
” we’ve been trying to get him for the past one year and we’re unable to do that” he said.
” where is he?” I asked.
” He works and produce his fake product in Russia and send it to Nigeria ” he answered.
” He’s in a foreign country…….how come you haven’t get to him? ” I asked.
” Why can’t you just sent an a$$assin to take him out?” I added.
” No one could get close enough to him, He’s protected always with armed bodyguards” he said.
” why can’t you informed the government about it?” I asked.
” Good question” he said then type on the computer again then another picture came out.
” He’s also protected by this man, Nikolai Polovski…….He is a powerful Russian Mafia, the government have no power over him” He said.
” He’s invisible which make Mr Felix Jackson also invisible ” he added.
” so what’s the mission?” I asked.
” You have to find you way in, eliminate the target and destroy all their products ” he said.
” Why can’t you send your men?……..why me?” I asked.
” Because they will ran their picture through all Nigeria military database, they will fish them out within a minute” he said.
” And how do you know that?” I asked.
” we’ve sent someone over there and she told us about it” he said.
” what happened to this person?” I asked.
” we haven’t heard from her for the past five months, my guess is that they already knew who she is” he said.
” she’s also a soldier? ” I asked.
” She’s not a soldier……..she’s also an agent like you…… A Secret Agent” he said then type on the computer and her picture came out.
” This is Agent Mackerel, she told us about the man, and to take out the man you need to take out some other things” he said.
” what other things?” I asked.
” The man has a warehouse full of fake drug and it’s the same place they produce the fake drugs” he said.
” so your mission is eliminate the target and destroy the warehouse ” he said.
” is that all? ” I asked.
” that’s all, so are you in?” he asked back.
” Fine…..let’s do this” I said.
” Everything you need is ready, you leave for Russia this evening ” he said.
” okay sir” I said.
” Anything else you need? ” he asked.
” I’m going to need two phone, one to chat and the other to call ” I said.
” copy that…… What else?” the Captain said.
” Get me a dog……A puppy ” I said.
” everything will be ready…….why don’t you rest for now” he said.

(Evening)
I got dressed and was ready for my trip, I grabbed my bags and went back to the ops center.
” Blackbird, here’s the things you will be needing ” the Captain said showing me a briefcase containing explosive.
” C4″ I said.
” yeah……12 piece, and this here is FN SCAR-L 5.56x45mm rifle, firing range 300-700m” he said then open another briefcase.
” this is your sidearms, SIG P229 AND SIG P229 DUO, 40 S&W (17.29fps) , 9mm” he said then open another briefcase but this one contains cash.
” This is 500 thousand Russian Ruble, to Nigerian currency it’s 2.5 million naira, this is what you need to complete the mission” he said then bring out two phones.
” Here are the phone you requested for” he said giving it to me.
” You should know, it’s the Russian soil……..you can’t get caught…..you have to be very discreet” the colonel said.
” Okay sir, but you should remember this is the last time, this is my last Mission ” I said.
” Copy that” he said then they helped me with my things to the private jet along with the dog.
” Be safe Agent Blackbird and keep us updated at all time” the colonel said.
” copy that Sir” I said then I entered the plane.
