Chapter 114
(One week later)
Martin sat on the chair going through a document when the door opened, and Evelyn walked in.
“You called me,”
“Yeah, send this document to Mr. Jones,” he said, stretching the document towards her, and Evelyn gently took it from him.
“Okay,” she said and placed the coffee on the table. Martin gently took the cup and took a sip.
“Hmmm, I have a party at 8:00. I was thinking if you could come with me,” Martin said, and Evelyn shrugged.
“Okay,” she simply replied. Martin frowned when he saw her reaction.
She didn’t seem too happy to him.
“Hey, what’s up?” He asked softly, standing up from the chair, and Evelyn just hugged him.
“Tomorrow my mom is going for surgery, and I’m really nervous.
I don’t want anything to happen to her,” she said, sniffing, and Martin sighed before hugging her.
“Evelyn, nothing is going to happen to your mother, okay?” he said, and Evelyn nodded, hugging him tightly.
Martin gently patted her hair and kssed her forehead.
“I really want to be with you tomorrow at the hospital, but I have an important meeting in Mexico with a business client,” he said, and Evelyn sighed sadly.
“Hey, you don’t have to feel alone. Haris will be there, and I will be there for you no matter what,” he said, and Evelyn smiled.
“Can you stay—”
“No, Martin. I am not staying at your place tonight, okay?” Evelyn said almost immediately, and Martin burst into laughter while Evelyn just glared at him.
“I’m not going to do anything, Eve,” he pouted his lips, and Evelyn scoffed.
“That was exactly what you said yesterday… but ended up not keeping your word,” she hissed and walked out of the office, while Martin just laughed heartily.

“Good evening, sir,” a young girl greeted as they walked into the shopping mall.
“Seriously, Martin, do you really have to buy new clothes for me?” Evelyn said, and Martin chuckled.
“I want you to look beautiful because Maria is going to be there.
Don’t you want to look great for me?” Martin raised his eyebrows, and Evelyn’s expression changed.
She was really annoyed just by hearing Maria’s name.
Martin laughed softly, seeing her expression.
The guards behind them smiled as they looked at them.
“Sir, you seem so happy to be with her,” a guard whispered to the other.
“Yeah, he can’t stop laughing and smiling when he is with her,” the other guard said.
Evelyn walked through the clothes section, finding the perfect outfit.
“Hmm, I think I will go for this,” she pointed to a purple gown, and the salesgirl nodded.
“Wow, that gown is going to suit you perfectly,” Martin said, and Evelyn rolled her eyes.
“I can’t wait to see you in that dress. I am sure you are going to look amazing in it,” Martin said, and Evelyn smiled heartily.
“Please stay by my side during the party. I don’t want any man to look at what is mine, as I always say, and don’t try what you did at the club,” he said seriously, and Evelyn gulped.
