Chapter 142
The couple looked at each other, each longing for each other’s embrace. Martin sighed in relief when he saw she was not hurt.
“I suppose you must be missing your loved one deeply, but you will get to see her when you provide me with the evidence or you destroy them,” He yelled, and Martin scoffed without saying anything.
“Where is the evidence? Destroy them immediately,” He said, and Martin just smirked.
“Don’t attempt anything stupid, Martin.”
“Well, I just want to ask one simple question. How do you sleep at night knowing that you framed an innocent person and sent them to prison? Don’t you feel any guilt or remorse?” Martin yelled, and Tom frowned.
“Why should I feel guilty? He took something that belongs to me.”
“Because of a woman you decided to frame. Did his wife come to you after you framed him?” Martin said, raising his eyebrows, and Tom frowned, glaring harshly at him.
“That’s enough with the questions. Give me the evidence,” He tried to move closer to him, but Martin stepped back.
“Don’t you get it, Tom? I was just trying to buy some time,” Martin said, and almost immediately, there was a sound of a gunshot, making everyone scream.
Mr. Tom rushed to the window, and his eyes widened when he saw the police.
“You j.erk! You called the police,”
“Yes, I did. Not just the police, but also the press. And just so you know, they have been listening to our conversation,” He pulled out an earpod.
“You despicable person,” He yelled and tried to punch Martin, but Martin was quick enough to dodge it.
The two men stared at each other intensely.
Everyone’s eyes widened as he grabbed Evelyn and placed a gun against her head.
Almost immediately, the door opened, and the police officers rushed in.
“Drop your weapon or she will be dead in a minute,” He said, pressing the gun against Evelyn’s head, causing her to breathe shakily.
She was terrified beyond belief. She never imagined having a gun pointed at her head.
Tears were already streaming down her face.
“That’s enough. Don’t harm her,” Martin yelled fearfully.
“Then do as I fking tell you,” Mr. Tom yelled back.
“Drop your weapon,” He yelled at the police. They sighed and dropped their guns.
“What do you want?” Martin asked softly.
He was extremely scared, and his fear was of losing Evelyn. He had made arrangements to propose to her next month.
Losing her would leave him feeling incomplete. His love for her was deep and eternal, and if anything happened to her, he would regret it for the rest of his life.
“I want to leave here safely,” He said.
“Well, I’m afraid that is impossible,” Evelyn muttered, and immediately she kicked him in the leg, causing him to fall to the ground. The police quickly moved towards him.
“How the h’ll did you do that?” Martin asked, and Evelyn just shrugged her shoulders.
“I don’t know,” She said, and they both hugged each other.
“Evelyn,” everyone yelled, causing them to turn around. Their eyes widened when they saw a bullet flying towards them.
“Eve,” Martin yelled. He quickly pushed her away, and the bullet hit his back, making him fall to the ground weakly.
