“Sister, don’t cry. It’s your birthday. You don’t want to ruin your makeup, right? Besides, you deserve it.
I remember how much you tried for mom to go into surgery. When mom was sick, you made sure I still went to school.
So, to me, you deserve more than this because you are the best sister.
I am so lucky to have you,” Ava said, stretching up to wipe her tears.
“Wow,” everyone who was staring at them clapped.
“Did she practice that speech? I don’t think so,” James said.
“You are so cute,” Evelyn said.
“I will wear the hairpin now,” Evelyn said and slowly wore the hairpin in her hair.
“Where did she get the money to buy it?” Noah asked.
“I gave it to her since she said she wanted to buy something for her sister,” Martin replied.
“Uncle Martin,” she called and rushed into Martin’s arms.
“Happy birthday, princess,” her father said, likewise the others, and they handed her a box each.
“Okay, let’s call the celebrant to the stage to give us a speech,” the MC said, and everyone clapped as Evelyn walked up to the stage.
?She is looking so pretty.
?I am so jealous of her.
?Mr. Martin can’t stop staring at her.
?Now I understand why Martin fell for her. She is so adorable.
She took the microphone and nervously looked at the crowd in front of her.
“I want to thank everyone for being at my birthday party today.
I don’t know most of you, but I’m really happy that you’re all here.
I’m grateful for my fiancé who decided to celebrate this birthday party for me,” Their eyes met, and they both smiled at each other.
“To my friends and family members, thank you all so much,” she finished her speech, and everyone applauded.
Suddenly, the lights went out, causing fear among the crowd.
?”What’s happening?”
?”Why did the lights turn off?”
Immediately, the lights came back on, illuminating only Evelyn’s spot. Five girls came forward and started dancing, confusing her.
One of them held up a board that said WILL.
Another came forward with a board that said YOU.
Another came forward with a board that said MARRY.
Another came forward with a board that said ME.
Then one girl slowly walked towards her and handed her a flower.
Martin walked to the stage, making everyone scream in excitement.
“Don’t tell me it’s what I think,” James muttered.
He knelt down, leaving Evelyn shocked, and she covered her mouth.
No one needed to hear what was going on.
“Martin,” she whispered.
