Chapter 144
“How is he?” Haris asked in a worried tone.
“I don’t know, Haris,” she said, crying, making Haris sigh. He pulled her into a tight hug, which she reciprocated immediately.
She really needed someone to hold on tightly.
“How did this happen?” James asked in a broken tone, but no one answered him as everyone was praying silently.
“He is a strong man, guys. I am sure he is going to be okay,” James said, trying to calm them down, but it was not working.
(2 hours later)
“How is he?” Evelyn asked as they all rushed toward the nurse, who sighed as she took off her face mask.
“He is fine now. The wound on his back was quite deep, but we were able to remove the buIIet.
He will be awake in a few days’ time,” she said, and they all breathed heavily.
“Thank you for saving my son’s life,” Mrs. Parker said, and hugged the nurse.
“I didn’t save your son. God did,” she said.
“He will soon be brought to the main ward. Then you can see him,” the doctor said and walked out.

(3 days later)
Evelyn lay on the hospital bed, still sleeping soundly.
The door opened, and Evelyn’s mother walked in with Mrs. Parker.
“They looked so cute,” Mrs. Jackson said, and both women laughed softly before walking out.
It has been two days since Martin has been lying down, and it hurt Evelyn a lot.
It has been all over the internet, and Tom Company has been shut down.
She goes home in the morning to take her bath, and she spends the rest of her day with Martin.
She really misses Martin so much, and it hurts a lot seeing him lying down, not talking to her.
Her friends come by during the day to keep her busy, but they just couldn’t bring her out of her shell.
She misses Martin like crazy, and she just wants him to talk to her.
Her father is still in prison, but he is coming out of prison tomorrow, and she can’t wait to see him free.
Her joy knew no bounds. Just the thought of seeing her father gave her at least a little happiness inside of her.
Ava came the next day, and everyone was surprised when the young girl began to cry, begging him to wake up.
Many of them even started to wonder if the two people were ever too close. Of course, they were.
She hardly eats. She stays up all night crying, and even when they bring food to her, she shoves it away.
She mumbled sleepily when she felt a hand wrapped around her waist, tracing his hand to her thighs, and she quickly opened her eyes.
Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw Martin staring at her.
“Oh my gosh, Martin,” she yelled and hugged him tightly, making him groan in pain, and she moved away from him slowly.
“I’m sorry,” she said as she distanced herself from the hug, and Martin just smiled.
“I just wanted to watch your pretty face as you sleep,” Martin said, and Evelyn smiled.
She really missed him so much.
