Chapter 7
The next few days swang by so fast. Today was Friday,Jays birthday, and we were getting ready for the dinner at his house. Serena was coming to the dinner since she begged me to bring her along,but not before asking Jays mum first.
Serena and Jays friendship was still the same, but ours was still kind of broken .We hadn’t talked much since the argument and this was really getting uncomfortable. I was planning on talking to him before the party to clear things between us.
“Am so excited for the party. Jay is going to be my date and this is the right time to make my first move!” Serena said smiling from ear to ear.
“Don’t get to excited, remember he is only keeping the promise he made you, don’t get it twisted, ” I told her trying to knock some sense into her, as always.
We were in my room finding me an outfit for the party. Serena had hers ready and decided to choose one for me since apparently, i wasn’t that good when it came to fashion! She was busy in the wardrobe, while I sat on the bed watching her.
“I know what am doing Sky, don’t rain on my parade, at least not today. Anyways, I think I just found you a dress, ” she said holding up a sleeveless, short black dress.
“Are you kidding me !”I said almost dropping my jaw. “Are you planning on selling me or something! That is not even my dress, and my dad will never let me go out in that.”
“Come on stop exaggerating! your dad wouldn’t mind. And of course I brought some of my dresses for you to choose from… there’s no way you own a party dress. ”
“Hey ,my clothes aren’t that bad! ” I said defending myself.
She wasn’t wrong though ,I liked been simple, and honestly i don’t know how I became friends with Serena since she was the opposite of me.
“OK, how about this one, ” she said showing me another short black dress with a golden belt .
“You know the only difference between the two dresses is the belt right? Don’t you own any appropriate dress? ”
” I know you did not just call my clothes inappropriate!” she said angrily crossing her arms across her chest.
“You know I didn’t mean it that way!”
“OK, I will only accept your apology if you put on one of my dresses, ” she said still upset.
“Serena, I can’t. ”
“Come on am taller than you, so the dress will not even be that short on you. ”
“OK fine!I’ll wear whatever you want, ” I told her feeling defeated.
l had no choice but to say yes to her, we all know she never took no for an answer. She paired the dress with black boots and a coloured jacket that i owned and it was quite a match.
Within a couple of minute we were in Jays house for dinner. Jays house had always been a second home for me. The house was always welcoming from the open door. The walls were filled with photographs of the family. The floor was old fashioned parquet with a blend of deep home browns. This house was made with love that’s for sure.
The food was amazing as usual and our families were enjoying themselves. Jay didn’t seem to be in a very good mood and i had to hold my thought about talking to him. I guess Serena also noticed his mood, since she didn’t bother him much. He was really acting weird and awkward, and I would find him glancing at me from time to time through out the dinner. I really wanted to talk to him but I was going to wait for the right time.
After dinner we had the cake and Serena and i excused ourselves to go get ready for the party.
Serena wore a skater skirt paired with a halter top ,a leather jacket and black shiny heels. She looked amazing. The dress she choose for me was really nice to. She applied my make up, after hers letting my hair down so that it could go with the outfit .It really felt weird dressing up like this but I had to admit, i looked,and felt great!
“Jay is waiting for us outside, he just texted, ” Serena said.
“OK let’s go, “I said, and we left.
Jay was standing outside leaning on his car.He was Wearing blue khaki pants with a light blue slim fit shirt with black shoes that matched his belt. He looked so fucking amazing! that he was literally taking my breath away! I noticed his eyes take in my outfit as we walked towards him, and the way he looked at me gave me shivers.
“Wow Sky, you look….. I don’t even have the words, ” he said looking into my eyes with intensity i hadn’t seen before.
“Oh God I think am going to faint. I hope Serena hasn’t noticed how nervous i am ” I thought to myself.
“Uumh….. you think so? “I asked him nervously.
“Yes you look just perfect! That has got to be the $exiest dress I’ve ever seen you in, ” he said eyeing me from head to toe.
“You don’t look to bad yourself, ” I told him meaning every word.
“Yes ,Jay you look gorgeous, “Serena said.
“You too Serena, you look amazing as always. Come on let’s go before we get late,” he said opening the back seat door for us.
“Give me a minute, I have to tell my Dad we are leaving, “I said turning to leave.
“I already did, and he made me promise not to take keep my eyes off you, even for a second! ” “Jay said.
“Okay…lets go.”
“Oh…. and Chris will be at the party to, “Serena said as Jay started the car.
“Nice, atleast i’ll have someone to keep me company when you two ditch me, “I said not sure how I was going to act around him after what happened last time.
“We won’t leave you alone, looking like that all the guys will be all over you, “Jay said looking at me through the front mirror.
“I can take care of myself and you won’t be too far anyway. ”
“And Chris will be with her to, ” Serena added.
“How do we know Chris wont be bringing one of his girlfriends? ” Jay asked.
“It doesn’t matter, I don’t need to be babysat anyway, and this is the end of the topic, ” I said putting my foot down.
Thankfully that was over, but i thought i heard Jay murmur something like stubborn.
Well… that’s what he gets for trying to be so overprotective!
