The house in Jim’s neighborhood were identical right down to the shade of paint, but i knew which one was his house from the loud music coming from it .
The party was already in full swing when we got there. Everyone was in groups either playing games, dancing and some were even smoking. The living room was a dance floor with a DJ and I wondered where all the furniture was.
“The birthday boy is here, “Jim yelled walking towards us as soon as he spotted Jay and everyone else shouted happy birthday.
I swear my ears were almost deafening from all the screams and the loud music!
“It’s about time,you should have been here an hour ago, “Jim said giving Jay a bro hug before turning to look at us.
Jim’s eyes nearly bugged out when he saw me. The way he looked at me made me feel all self conscious.
“Wow sky! You look super hot!”
“Thanks Jim, nice job with the party, “I told him.
“What am i, chopped liver? Serena asked throwing daggers at Jim.
“Hi Serena, looking good, ” Jim said giving her a hug.
“OK guys, have fun and sky don’t forget you owe me a dance, “Jim said before leaving.
Serena excused herself to go and get us drinks. She didn’t even bother to ask if I was drinking or not. Typical Serena.
“Would you care to dance with me? “Jay leaned over and whispered in my ear. His deep husky voice set my insides on fire.
“I think Serena should have the first dance since she’s your date ,” I turned to him and said trying so hard to hide what he was making me feel.
“It’s my birthday and I decide who I dance with first, ” he said taking my hand and leading me to the dance floor.
When we got to the dance floor a slow song was on. Jay held me tight and we danced around as the slow song played. His right hand held mine to his chest and I could feel my heart beat strong and even .I rested my head on his chest and sighed. His left hand traced circles on the lower back of my head sending delicious shivers down my spine .
“I really missed this, “he said pulling me closer to his body and kissed the top of my head. I felt a sensation grow into the pit of my stomach from the kiss.
At this moment all i knew is that I wanted to be in his arms forever!
We stayed there swaying on the dance floor for so long I had lost track of how many songs had played.
“I believe it’s my turn now, ” I heard Serena’s voice say from behind me.
“Of course, he’s all yours, ” I said untangling myself from him.
“I’ll go get myself a drink ,since Serena didn’t come back with any, ” I told them as I watched Serena walk straight into Jay’s arms.
“You too were dancing and I didn’t want to bother you so I ended up drinking them all, “Serena said smiling slightly at me.
I think she was kind of drunk.
“Don’t go to far,” Jay said.
“Yes daddy, ” I told him my voice full of sarcasm.
“I mean it! “he said with a commanding voice.
“OK, ” I said rolling my eyes then left.
I walked past rooms full of drunk teenagers making out all over. The music was still very loud and I wondered why the neighbours hadn’t complained yet. The mood was just out of this place and as I looked around I noticed that a lot of the school showed up.
Everyone I spotted was holding a party cup full of alcohol. Wasn’t underage drinking illegal? Anyways, I really should have fun and stop over thinking too much.
“Hey sexy, Wanna dance? ” a light skinned guy came up to me and asked. His height was very intimidating and he was drunk as hell.
“No thanks, ” I said and started walking away but he came in front of me blocking my path.
“Come on, you know you want to, “he said attempting to hold me by the waist, but I moved away quickly.
“Dude she said no, get the hell way from her!”a voicemail said from behind me.
I was so happy when I turned and saw Chris. The guy moved away from me but still stood there looking at me. I guess he was too drunk to even know what he was doing.
“Come on, let’s get away from this creep, “Chris said pulling me by the hand.
Chris was leading me to a crowded room which I assumed was the kitchen since everyone came out with party cups full of liquor. As soon as we reached the kitchen Chris opened the fridge and took a bottle of beer.
“Can i ask you something ?” he turned to say as he took a sip of the beer.
“Yes,” I said not sure how to act around him after what happened last time.
“Do you have any feelings for Jay? “he asked as I watched him swallow half of the beer at a go. He was really acting weird.
“What? No! Why would you even ask that? You know Jay is my best friend and nothing more.”
“I was watching you two dance, and am sure as hell that’s not the way best friends dance, “he said drinking more beer.
“Stop that, why are you drinking this much? ” I said as i walked over and grabbed the bottle from him.
“Because am jeolous okay! Am crazy jealous! ” he said almost shouting.
“What are you talking about? ”
“I swear you are driving me crazy sky! Seen you dancing with Jay made my blood boil. I really like you alot , “he said moving closer to me.
“What do you mean? ” I asked, not sure of what I just heard.
“I mean that I want you. I like you a lot, and all I do is think of you. I feel so much better when you’re around, and I want you with me all the damn time! ” he said and by the look he was giving me I could tell he was being sincere.
I really didn’t know what to do, I just stood there frozen. Why would he want me when he can have any girl he wanted?
“I really can’t help how I feel, I’ve really tried sky, “he said tucking hair away from my eyes behind my ears.
“I don’t know what to say Chris,”I said my voice low.
“All I need is a chance to prove my love for you.Give me a chance, and I won’t let you down, ” he said holding my waist and pulling me closer.
A second later Chris was pulled away from me, by Jay. Jay moved to him and punched him hard! Chris recovered quickly and hit him just as hard. They were equally strong and I watched in shock still registering what was happening. No one was trying to stop them, everyone around just watched them some with amusement in their eyes.
“Stop it, what the hell is wrong with you?” I asked as I rushed ,and stood in between them.
“I told you not to mess with her! “Jay yelled at Chris his eyes dark and cold.
“I love her, and am not planning on hurting her!” Chris yelled back at him.
“I bet that’s what you tell all of your girlfriends,” Jay said trying to hit him again but I quickly intervened.
“Stop it Jay, he hasn’t done anything wrong, ” I told him taking his hand and trying to calm him down.
“He hasn’t yet, but he sure will. You have to stay away from him you know he’s bad news,”Jay said looking for from me to Chris.
Jay was very angry. I didn’t understand why he was been so overprotective, but this had to stop!
“Stop treating me like a child already Jay! I can take care of myself okay? ” I told him as i quickly left, very annoyed.
They can kill themselves for all I care!
“Hey are you okay ?”Jim asked as I got to the living room .The music was still very loud and I guess not many people knew about the fight.
“Yes, I just need a drink,” I said.
Don’t worry, I got you, “Jim said giving me a cup full of alcohol.
I swallowed it all without thinking and I was overwhelmed by how bitter it was. Why do people drink this and where the h’ll is Serena?
A few seconds later everything started looking blurry.
“Do you want more,”Jim who was still standing beside me asked.
“No am good, I just need to lie down am feeling kind of dizzy, ” I said trying my best to stay awake.
“Okay… come , i’ll carry you upstairs .”
All I felt was Jim lifting me off the ground before everything went pitch black.
