chapter 14
The way she looked at me made me feel like i was trespassing into someones property.
“Good morning, ” I said trying to unwrap Jays hand from around me but he held me even tighter pulling me closer.
“Morning ,Ethan told me what happened and i just had to come but i see you are in good hands,” she said trying to hide her jealousy, but i could see right through her.
I didn’t know what to say after that.The last thing i want is Serena to be jealous of me.
“Am sorry about that. Are you okay? I hope he didn’t hurt you,” She asked really concerned as she sat on the bed.
“Am good. Jay showed up just on time .”
Jay finally woke up and we both sat up. He put his hands on my shoulder kssing me on the top of my head.
“Morning ladies.”
“Morning Jay,” we both said.
“Come,” Jay said taking my hand and helping me out of bed leading me to the bathroom. “Go freshen up, I’ll be down stairs making you breakfast.”
I looked at Serena who was seated silently on the bed watching us and then nodded at Jay as he left.
“Ill be back ,” i told Serena as i rushed in the bathroom.
Soon after i was done and i joined her on the bed. I told her everything even though it was hard and she was there comforting me all the way.
“Jim better pray the police find him first because if i do, am going to cut his throat open!” Serena said angrily.
” I hope they catch him soon, am already having nightmares and i don’t want to look over my shoulder everytime i go out.”
“Dont worry , i wont let anything happen to you i’ll be your own personal bodyguard if i have to sky,” she said smilling and i couldn’t help but smile back .
“Okay lets go, am so hungry,” i said touching my stomach .
Ethan was busy setting the table with Chris, and Dad was making breakfast with Jay as we got to the kitchen.
“You didn’t tell me Chris was here.”
“Am sorry ,it must have slipped my mind ,” Serena said.
“Hi kiddo ,how are you,” Dad said as soon as he saw me pulling me in a very tight hug.
“Am good but very hungry. Am glad you are back,” i said kssing him on the cheek.
“Well am glad you are hungry because i’ve made the most delicious breakfast just for you,” he said leading me to the table while Serena followed.
“Wow my favourite!” i said taking a samosa and almost shoving it all in my mouth.
” Come on Sky…you know you dont have a favourites when it comes to food. You literally eat everything!” Ethan said as he laughed and everyone joined him.
“Hey ,don’t laugh! Its not my fault , I mean, what do you expect when my Dad is the best cook in the whole world ,” i said smilling at him.
“Well, we cant argue with that,” Jay said still laughing.
“Hi sky,” Chris said taking a seat beside me.
” Hey…thank you for coming.”
“Dont mention it , you know am here for whatever you need ,” he said placing his hand on top of mine. I noticed Jay glance at our hands but he looked away quickly avoiding my gaze.
” Okay ,Thank you.”
After breakfast we all watched some movies and even played games.They were really trying their best to cheer me up and i can proudly say that they were succedding.
” Can i talk to you? ” Chris asked and i nodded.
I took his hand and led him outside the porch. A cold shiver ran through me as i recalled been kidnapped ,but i brushed it away quickly.
“Are you okay. We can go back in if you want to,” Chris asked as he noticed my mood change.
“Its fine.Whats up .”
“Nothing much , i just wanted to apologize for been a jerk at the party and ask you if you would like to go out with me. There’s no pressure, you can take all the time you need to think about it,” he said nervously.
” I dont know,” i said.
With all this Jim stuff i wasn’t sure i was ready for this.
“Am not sure what you’re thinking but please give me a chance. After what happened to you all i want is to be with you and protect you, dont push me away.”
” Okay….,” I said after a few seconds of silence. ” why not, i mean its just a date,” i told him .
” Seriously?! Did I hear right? ” he asked with a huge grin on his face. He had a really lovely smile.
“I already said yes, dont make me regret it.”
“Thank you i promise you wont regret it,” he said as he suddenly lifted me up spinning me around .
“Hey put me down before we both fall ,” I said laughing as he obliged.
“What was that for? I only agreed to go out with you not marry you, Dont get it twisted!” i said hitting him lightly on his chest.
“To me, they are actually one and the same thing. So how about next sunday, i know you are busy on saturday.”
“Yeah okay….. Now lets go back in ,its getting chilly out here.”
” Sure. ”
Jay and Serena were busy chatting when we got in and Ethan was playing chess with Dad. Chris walked over to Serena and told her the news. I wasn’t sure whether he did that to spite Jay or because he was very excited.
Jays face was covered with a frown after hearing the news .I knew he didn’t like Chris but this was the only way i knew to get him out of my head!
I had to start dating, if I ever wanted to forget about the feelings I have for him!
“I have to go now, “Jay said as he got up and walked towards me.
I know he’s upset with me, even though he’s trying his best not to show it.
” Call me if you need anything, anytime okay?”
he said giving me a quick hug and left before i could say anything.
“So you two are going out now? You might be my brother but if you hurt her, you’ll have to deal with me,” Serena said to Chris as i went and sat beside her smiling.
“Okay, I’ll leave you two alone ,”Chris said as he left to join Ethan.
Serena turned to me and clasped my hand into hers. She looked at me straight in the eye and for the first time in our long friendship, her eyes showed a seriousness and a responsibility that frightened me.
“Sky is something going on between you and Jay?” Serena asked.
To be honest i wasn’t that surprised because i saw it coming.
” Of course not! why would you ask that?”
” Am sorry but after what i saw in the morning, i couldn’t help myself. It’s just that you two have the best friendship and i guess i kind of got jealous.”
“Its okay, you know I’ll never betray you like that.”
“Promise?”
“Promise,” i said knowing that was going to be the hardest promise to keep.
A few hours later Chris an Serena left. This was the right time to talk to Dad about what Jim said , i couldn’t hold it any longer.
“Dad , i need to talk to you about something ,” i said.
“Okay, what is it.”
” I need you to tell me about mum. How you two met, how you fell inlove everything,” i saidas Ethan and Dad looked at each other.They didn’t look surprised at all. I guess they were expecting this.
“Is this about what jim said? Are you sure you want to talk about it now?” he asked.
” Am sure. It’s really Strange how you two never talk about her and after what Jim said i want to know every detail there is.”
“Okay, maybe it’s time you know the whole truth,” he said with a sigh looking from me to Ethan.
