Chapter 16
“Hey baby, wake up,” My dad said kssing my cheek.
I yawned waking up as i smiled at him. I was really exhausted .
“Morning Dad, what time is it?” i asked him sitting up.
“Its almost 9. You kind off slept in today.”
“What?! Am so late for school,” i said getting up from the bed but he was quick to stop me.
“You look exhausted plus you are already late. You should just rest today.”
“Really?!
” Yes Really. ”
“Who are you and what did you do to my Dad ?!” i asked him with eyes wide open.
Dad just looked at me smiling while nodding his head.
“Sorry i woke you but i have to go out of town again. I have been planning on opening another restaurant in the city and and thats what keeping me busy. I wish i dint have to go especially now but its only going to be till wednesday,” he said sounding worried.
“Dont worry Dad i’ll be fine and anyway , Ethan is here with me.”
“I know, but i cant help but worry, anyway i’ve already made plans with Jay and Ethan. Jay will take you to and from School everyday and will watch over you at school and Ethan will be with you whenever you have to go out until Jim is behind bars, and if i have to hire bodyguards for you i will,”
“Okay….but please stop exaggerating Ethan and Jay will do.”
“Good, but am not exaggerating. I have to go now,” he said kssing my forehead and getting up from the bed. “Bye.”
“Bye Dad .”
I was still very sleepy and since i had the whole day to myself i decided to go back to sleep,but before i could lay my head on the pillow Ethan walked in the room.
“Am sorry to walk in like this but your phone has been ringing nonestop,” he said handing it to me. ” Its Serena.”
With all that happened over the weekend i forgot i had a phone. I can’t even remember the last time i had it.
“Thank you Ethan,” i told him as he left the room.
“Hi Serena, Morning,” i said answering the call.
“Don’t Morning me, i was so worried about you! Why are you not in school are you okay?”
“Yes am fine i just woke up late.”
” Okay, am glad you are fine. Is Jay there with you by any chance?”
” No , why?”
“He is also not in school.”
“I haven’t seen him yet, i just woke up.”
“Okay, i’ll see you tomorrow then,” bye.
“Bye,” i said hanging up.
Why dint Jay go to school? I hoped he was okay.
There was no way i was going back to sleep after that so i got up and pulled my hair in a ponytail ,then i washed my face and headed downstairs.
When i got there Ethan was busy getting coffee and hot chocolate ready. His mind seemed to be somewhere else and so i went to him and placed my hand on his shoulder which really startled him.
“Hey …dont do that ,are you trying to give me a heart attack or something?” he asked his hand on his chest .
“Am sorry….whats wrong? You looked kind off lost?”
“Am good, i was just distracted a little.”
“Okay…am going to Jays, i’ll be back,” i said turning to leave.
“No!! ,” he said almost shouting.
“What? why?? i asked very confused.
“You cant go out alone after what happened and anyway, Jay isnt home, i called him and he was out somewhere,” he said.
“Okay, but something else is bothering you, you are never this jumpy. What’s wrong?” i asked walking closer.
“Am just scared sky. Am scared that you’ll start treating me different after you found out that i was only your half brother. Am also scared that Jim will hurt you.” he said his voice low.
“I’ll never treat you differently stupid!” i said hitting him lightly on the head.”You are and will always be my big brother and nothing will happen to me with you here. Am also sure our supermum is watching us from heaven,” i said hugging him while he smiled lightly.
“Yes am sure she is ,” he said huggin me tight.”wonna watch a movie?”
“Of course but after breakfast am starving ,” i said as i sat and took a sip of my coffee.
“Mmhh….i love this coffee, delicious bro,” i said giving him a thumbs up as he sat opposite me.
Something was still up with him, but i dint want to push him into telling me. I dont know why he thought that i would treat him differently after i found out the truth ,and he was supposed to be the intelligent one!
“When will Jay be back,” i asked.
“I dont know, but i don’t think it will take long since he went to meet someone.”
“I thought you dint know where he went. Anyway who is meeting?”
“I think he said it was this girl who was a friend of his,” Ethan said sipping his coffee.
“Girl! What girl?” I asked jealousy eating through me.
I would give up Jay for Serena,but not for any other girl!
“Why, does it bother you? You look so jealous right now,” he said smiling lightly.
“What? No!Am not jealous! Am…..you know, just curious,” i said trying very hard to avoid his gaze.
“You cant hide anything from me sky, am your brother and i know you like him more than a friend ,” he said taking a bite of his sausage acting as if he said nothing wrong.
” What are you talking about? Don’t be silly .”
“No, you stop been silly. Just admit it already. I know you are doing it all for Serena , but if she’s trully your friend she’ll understant and let you be happy with Jay.”
“Wow ! You seem to know alot don’t you? Anyway you dont understand ,i cant do that to Serena. She really likes him alot!”
“But he is not in love with her.”
“Or me,” i adedd.
“How would you know that unless you ask him.”
” I cant okay?”
“But sky……….”
“I dont want to talk about it.”
“Okay….” he said putting his hands up in surrender. ” I just hope you dont regret it like Dad did. He lost mum and when he finally found her, he didn’t get alot of time with her. Listen to your heart and before you do this for Serena, ask yourself if she would do the same for you.”
With that Ethan got up and cleaned the table and i helped him clean the dishes. I really wished things would have been diferent between Jay and i. We could have been together by now, and i would have being the happiest girl in the universe.
It was hard to just stop having feelings for someone.There was no on/ off button for that! I still loved him and i seriously didn’t know how i was going to stop.
Maybe Ethan was right, Serena might understand, right?
But what if she didn’t And I lost her?
Oh No! this is so complicated!
I have to stop thinking about it, before I end up loosing my mind!
Ethan and i spent half of the day watching horror movies and eating junk food, it was really fun with Ethan trying to scare me but ended up being scared instead! Karma right? We were interrupted by the door bell and i rushed to open hoping it was jay.
“Hi,Wow! You look just like your mother,” a middle aged man who was standing outside said eyeing me from head to toe.
I had never seen him before and i was really curious as to how he knew my mum.
“Uuhm… Hi, how can i help you?” i asked.
“I am Mr kingsman and i came to talk to Ethan,” he said stretching out his hand to me, but i just looked at him.”Is he in?”
Ethan wasn’t very far from me and when he heard his name he came and stood right next to me.
“Yes am Ethan, how can i help you,” Ethan said.
“You have really grown son. Am your father Ethan,” the man said moving in to hug Ethan.
Ethan and i were so confused that we just stood there frozen!Could this be Jake? But isn’t he supposed to be in prison?
Ethan recovered quickly and pushed the man away before he could hug him.
” Dont touch me. My fathers name is calvin banks okay!” Ethan said trying to compose himself. He was really angry and i really didn’t know how to feel.
The person who killed my mom and almost killed me before i was born was standing right outside my door!
“Am you real father Ethan. I know i did alot of shit before but i’ve changed, and i want to get to know you better and fix things between us, please…,” Jake said almost in tears.
“You killed my mother and almost burnt us alive you jerk!” Ethan said fisting his hands in anger.
“I know and I’ll never forgive myself for that, But I’ve paid for it ,and am back for you.”
“Incase you haven’t noticed, am a grown man now and i dont need you, i never will!” Ethan said.
“Please forgive me, i was young and stupid then,” Jake said as he turned to me attempting to take my hand, but Ethan was quick to push him roughly away from me . He landed on the ground with a very loud thud and i almost felt sorry for him. Almost.
“Are you okay?” Ethan asked wiping tears away from my eyes,and I nodded my head. I didn’t even realize that i was crying.
“Stay away from us and if you ever think of touching her again ,i wont care that you are my elder!” he told him as he held him by the collar pulling him up .
Ethan then pushed him out of our porch and slammed the door.
This nightmare was never going to be over. We only had one psych©path to deal with but now we have two, God help us!
