The next day i made sure to wake up early. Jay was waiting for me outside by his car as soon as i was done. He gave me a hug and been the gentleman he always was, opened the car door for me. Soon we were on the road and on our way to school.
“Sky ….. Jay”, We both said at the same time and smiled.
“Lady’s first,” Jay said .
” Thank you for the ride and everything you have been doing for me. I dont know how i will ever repay you,just know that if you need anything am your guy.. I mean, your girl. I want to show you that i can do anything for you too. I dont want our friendship to be one sided.”
” Where is this coming from? Am not complaining sky, just seeing you happy makes me happy, and that is all i want from you. It’s not a tit for tat kind of friendship,” Jay said.
” I just feel guilty that i have been such a brat lately! Am sorry for forcing you to go out with Serena. You are my friend too and i should have also thought about your feelings.”
” That wasn’t your fault… you were just helping Serena out . One thing i love about you is that you are not selfish, you always put other people before you, but that may work against you sometimes. Try thinking about youself first sometimes. That’s what i want you do for me ,” he said parking the car.
” I promise i will.”
“Now that’s my girl,” he said pinching me playfully on the cheeck .
Jay got out of the car and walked around to unlock my door as i said a quick thank you.We walked over to our lockers and then went straight to class .
“Morning you two,” Serena said as we took our seats.
” Morning.”
” Am so glad you are in today and that you are fine, i missed you especially you jay,” she said smiling and winking at him.
” Okay….i missed you too, ” Jay said akwardly while i just looked at her shaking my head.
Soon class was over and i went to my locker to get some books i needed. On my way there i bumped into Joy who seemed quite happy to see me.
” So the prodigal daughter has returned. Where were you yesterday we really missed you, She said smirking.
” I missed you too Joy, maybe i should tell you where i was over coffee after school, my treat,” i said sarcastically rolling my eyes and walking away.
” Wait, i have something to tell you and its really important. Serena……
” I have alot going on right now, and i dont give a damn about whatever you want to say, so pliz just leave me alone,” i said as calmly as possible.
“Serena is Jeolous about you and Jay . Someone called her yesterday, and told her he saw you two were together. I know she believes it since the both of you were missing in action . That girl can be shit crazy when she’s jealous! i mean i should know.”
” Why should i believe you? You literally would do anything to ruin my friendship with her,” i said shaking my head.
” True ,but i have nothing against you. I actually kind of like you, anyway, the whole school is talking about Jay’s party and the dance. some say that Jay was even fighting over you. I mean ,i so hate myself for missing all the action,but back to the point, Everyone in school says that you two would make a beatifull couple and that added fuel to Serena’s fire .”
” Serena knows that there’s nothing between me and Jay, and if there was something she would be the first to know. How do you know about the call? ” i asked.
” I heard Serena talking on the phone, and that’s how i found out. The way she talked, i think she really believes that you and Jay are together and that you beyrayed her.” Joy said.
” Am not sure whether to believe you or not.”
” Believe what you want, but don’t say i didn’t warn you. It’s either you talk to her about it or just join me and be my best friend. If i were you i would go with the second one and by the way ,i think i’ll take your offer on the coffee. See you after school,” She said as she walked away.
I dint know if what she said was true, but come to think of it, there was something different about Serena today. I really hoped that she trusted me enough not to believe rumours. I know i like Jay, but i never did anything to betray her. Well….i almost did yesterday, but it never happened.
I opened my locker to retrieve my books but, something caught my eye. There was a rose with a note attached to it on the side of my locker. I really hoped it wasnt what i was thinking but my hope was crushed when i took the lettter and started reading it.
“Hi beautiful , i thought you might have missed my gifts and so i decide to send you one,dont you just love me? Am so thoughtfull right? Anyway, i know you are heavily guarded and that i cant reach you but you can come to me right?Here is the plan , i want you to come meet me. I’ll send you the time and place and if you tell anyone about it ,you’ll regret it. I cant wait,see you soon. Your love Jim.
How the hell did this letter get here? I mean if Jim can get this letter to my locker,that means he is close!
” Hey are you okay?” Jay said from behind and i swear my heart almost stopped.
” Dont sneek up on me like that again!” i said my heart beating really first.
” Am sorry, but you looked so deep in thought and scared that i got worried.
“Am good.”
” Stop lying to me. Is it something Joy said because i saw you talking to her not long ago.”
” No it’s not her.”
” Okay then what is it? Please tell me.”
I was still not sure if i should tell Jay or not. Jim said that i would regret it, and i was really scared of what he might do!
But, maybe this was the only way we could catch him so i decided to tell him and handed him the letter.
He was kind of confused when he started reading it but then his face changed from worry to frustration and then anger.
“How did this get here? who gave it you sky?” he said through gritted teeth.
” I found it in my locker. I dont know how it got there.”
” What ?! Ethan was right. We should really find this guy and teach him a lesson he wont forget.”
” That would be dangerous ,i dont want any of you getting hurt because of me. He almost shot you once and i wont let that happen again.”
” You cant be living in horror everyday because of him! You are still young and you need to live yor life to the fullest.”
” That goes for you too. Look.. Jim said he wants to meet up with me so, maybe we can catch him by using me as bait. You, Ethan and the police will be there, and am sure you will protect me,” I said hoping that he would agree.
There was know other way i could think of.
” Are you kidding me! This is not a movie sky, it’s your life and there’s no way we are using you as bait ! Anything could go wrong and i dont think jim is that stupid. Am sure he wasn’t the one who brought this letter here and that means , someone in school is helping him out ,” Jay said.
” Do you have someone in mind,” i asked.
“No, but we’ll surely find out,” Jay said closing my locker and taking my hand.
” Come on , we have to go to the office . Am sure there are cctv cameras in the hallway and we can find out who did this,” jay said leading the way.
