A YEAR LATER.
“GO ONDA! GO ONDA!!”
“ONDA YOU ROCK!!”
“ONDA YOU ROCK!!”
“MIA YOU GORRIT!!”
“GO BABE!!”
“DADA BABY YOU’RE THE BEST!!”
Throngs surrounded Onda and Mia dancing at the field.
Onda had challenged this Mia, a really good but proud dancer of her kind to a competition after they’ve had a little crash.
Everyone on the campus knows those two are always on each other’s throats. Both being the best dancers and Mia always flirting with Jade which is obviously Onda’s boyfriend.
Ultimately, they decided to know who is best by letting the throng vote after having a competition.
“Hey” Kim tapped jade.
“You’re here” Jade said in a tired tone.
“What’s happening?”
“As you can see”
“You must be going through a lot”Kim said, while jade pouted.
“I’m gonna go home…tell her I’m gone when she’s done”
“Uh…see you later” Jade waves while Kim gave him a short smile before leaving.
After the incident a year ago, she seems to change totally…completely different to what she was before.
She’s now gentle and easy going which surprises everyone.
Immediately after Jayden was discharged from the hospital then…he didn’t spend many days at home before he relocated from the country.
Guess everything that happened was so much for him to bear. No one was as devastated as kim. To her, it was like she lost her only best friend. She can still remember vividly the last long conversation they had. That was in the hospital before he was discharged.
“You must hate me now…since I klled your mouth” she said with her eyes down. Playing with her fingers.
“No Kim… You did right…she needed to be stopped anyway. That woman has hurt a lot of people. I’m glad you did thank you Kimberly” He left out a feeble smile.
“But still…” Kim couldn’t help sobbing.
“She’s still your mother…how could I of all people…do that to you?”
“I only have one mother…and she’s that no nonsense woman who feeds me spicy food everytime I did even the slightest mistake”
“Jayden…”
“Kim…I’ll be okay. I promise”
After that conversation, and after he got discharged, Jayden seems to avoid her till he went out of the country. At first she was beyond angry…letting her anger on everyone around her…but later it’s subsided and she just decided to move on.
For a year, she didn’t hear from him and everytime he contacted his family, he never left any message to her.
Maybe…he hates me now. Was her thought for a whole year. They got into college months ago and she has been trying to adjust well.
Just that the crazy fun Kimberly totally dissipate and a gentle, easygoing Kimberly generated.
“Kim! Kim!” She could hear from afar someone calling her. Looking back she saw a guy running towards her.
“Hey Harry” She smiles tucking her hair behind her ear.
“Kim…hi” Harry smile breathlessly on getting to her.
“Is there a problem?” Kim asked.
“Uh…not really. Just that…” He stalled itching his hair.
“Spill it out Harry”
“Ohh yeah…you know the frat party tonight…would you like to be my date for that?”
“Um…I wasn’t planning on going but…why not?”
“Really?”
“Sure…I bet it’ll be fun with you being there right?”
“Then I’d come pick you up tonight”
“Yo_”
“You wouldn’t need to” A voice interrupted them and they both look back.
Harry frowns.
“Who are you?” He asked the guy with sunglasses who stood with his hands pocketed.
“I?” He removed his sunglasses.
“The guy she’ll be spending the night with” He smirks.
Kim furrows her brows.
“Who is he Kimberly?”Harry asked her.
“He’s…” She stares at Jay who stood smirking nonstop then face Harry with a smile.
“No one. Let’s go Harry” Kim linked hands with Harry leaving.
“Hey! Are you ditching me here!” Jay shouted after them but she ignored him and left with Harry.
“She did. I got ditched” He put on his sunglasses back.

“You okay?” Harry asked Kim who was gurgling down a can of beer down her throat.
“Perfect!” She beams dropping the fourth can of beer.
“I think we should start preparing for the frat party. Do you mind me dropping you home to get change?” Harry asked standing up.
Kim stood up also.
She staggers to his side crawling her hands up to his chest. She brought her face closer to him.
“What about we have our own frat here?” She said se..ductively.
“I’d like that” Harry replied while she grins locking lips with him.
Kim started kssing him ¢razily and roughly that Harry had to pull away from it.
“Why?” She frowns.
“I think I need to drop you home”
“Come on don’t be boring” She tried to lock lips again but Harry pulled her away.
“We can do this when you’re in your right mind…I’ll wait till then”He smiles while Kim rolled her eyes.
“Fk you Harry” She took her bag and leaves staggering once in a while.

Kim entered her dorm and threw her bag somewhere immediately she entered the room. She packed her hair in a messy ponytail going to take a bottle of water from the fridge.
“What are you doing here?” She asked after gulping down half of the water in the bottle.
“I’ve got the keys” Jay showed her the jingling keys in his hands standing from the couch.
“Get out. Onda would be here soon”
“Don’t worry…I made her sleep at Jade’s room tonight. I bet the I did great right?”
“I wanna rest please leave”
“I thought I told you I’ll be spending the night with you earlier?”
“I’m not in the mood to play around with you so get out now Jayden!” Kim scowl. Jayden shrugged and head to the door. Kim breathes in.
Instead of going out, he locked the door and threw the keys somewhere.
“I came here to play with you…Kimberly”He replied simply.
“Fine! I’ll just leave” She walked to the door but Jay grabbed her back hugging her tightly.
“You have every right to be mad. But I won’t let you go tonight Kim” He mutters on her shoulder.
“Believe me…the past year haven’t been the best for me either…I couldn’t…face it all. I had to run away”
“So you’re okay now?” Kim asked and he disengage facing her.
“Hmm…I am now.” He smiles.
“Good. Now get out” She went to the drawer and took a spare key opening the door.
“I don’t wanna see you…at least for a year” She added.
“Seriously Kim??”
“Bye. You can have the room for yourself” Before she could open the door Jay swept her off the ground to the bed. He dropped her there lying on her.
“My best friend is angry”
“I’m ain’t your best friend…anymore” She snorted looking away.
“I want to make it up to you”
“Then don’t let me see you for a year”
“I’m sorry Kim…I mean it”
“It was tough on me”
“I know”
“Everyday…I regretted ever doing that. The image wouldn’t leave my head and…it was torturing”
“I’m sorry…for making you feel that way Kim”
“I needed someone by my side. I needed by best friend but…you weren’t there”
“I’m here now”
“It’s too late. I’m okay now”
“No. I’m here to be by your side now Kim…no just as a best friend…but also…as your soulmate”
“I don’t need both and even if I do. It’s certainly not you Jayden” She pushes him away sitting up.
“If I leave now…I think I’m gonna regret it more.” He held her hand.
“Kim this time…I’m ain’t letting go anymore. I won’t look away and just do things as my heart wants me to”
“Have you been following your brain all along?”
“I did…and I regretted it.”
“You think your heart will be any better?”

“Should I find that out…now?” He asked and slowly she nodded. Jayden smiles and crash his lips on hers. She gasp sharply.
“What do you think? My heart is correct this time isn’t it?” He asked after unlocking. Their faces still close.

“Thank you…for waiting…Kimberly” He mutters back pulling her closer burying his face in her neck while she stroke his hair gently.
