CHAPTER 53

RESTROOM.

Jade patiently waited for Onda, who had gone into the restroom not long ago.

Finally, she came out, and he playfully obstructed her path with his leg. She stumbled and began to fall, but he caught her just in time.

“Ja… Jade,” she stammered, stepping away from him.

“You’ve been avoiding me these days.”

“I’m not… I just haven’t had anything to do with you.”

“Really… does that mean I’m being abandoned?”

“What do you mean?”

“Now that you feel like you can’t get what you want from me, you’re throwing me away, isn’t that it?”

“It’s not like that.”

“I think it is.”

“I’m just being careful.”

“About what?”

“Not being used by you. Oh wait! I’m not even the type of girl you’re interested in. You wouldn’t give someone like me a second look, so I shouldn’t be worrying about that.”

“You seem completely different.”

“Forget what I said about liking you… it’s my own problem, and I’ll deal with it myself. You just need to stay away,” she declared, starting to walk away.

“I came here to ask you something,” he said, stopping her. He walked closer to her and crouched down to her level.

“Do you want to be my date for Kim’s birthday party?” he asked, with a charming smile.

“Huh?” She blinked, stunned.

“I asked if you would be my date?”

“Why… why should I?”

“Oh, come on… don’t play hard to get with me. I’ll be wearing sky blue, so make sure you match up,” he said.

“I’m… not going with you. I don’t want to be your date,” she replied, looking away.

“I’ll pick you up… we have to arrive together to steal the limelight. Don’t forget sky blue,” he mussed up her hair before leaving with a smile on his face.

Onda cleared her throat and left as well.

After the announcement, Kim became a little scared. She made sure to always be around people and be extra cautious.

She didn’t receive any letters or notes, which made her even more worried because Jay wouldn’t stop hovering around her.

The days went by, and finally, it was her birthday.

Soft music played as people gathered in groups, chatting and laughing.

As Jade had said, he went over to Onda’s house and picked her up. After their conversation the other day, they seemed to have become closer, and Jade’s flirting with her had increased.

“Agnes… you came,” Onda beamed, hugging Agnes.

“Yeah, I did… though I don’t like the celebrant, I didn’t want to miss it,” Agnes replied.

“Agnes… you’re looking quite lovely… are you on a mission to impress someone?” Jade asked, stepping closer.

“If that’s the case, it definitely isn’t you,” Agnes replied.

“And it definitely can’t be her,” he pointed to Onda.

“Well… I can always give it a try,” Agnes smirked, winking at Onda.

Jade instantly pulled Onda beside him.

“She’s taken… find someone else,” Jade smirked, taking Onda, whose face turned red, away.

“Hey!” Onda stopped him as he turned to her.

“I’m not taken by anyone.

“Then why are you with me?”

“What do you mean?”

“I never thought you were this slow-witted,” he shook his head.

“Let go of me.”

“You’re my date for tonight, so you have to be with me.”

“Well…it’s only for tonight, no big deal,” she rolled her eyes.

He held both her shoulders.

“Not only for tonight, but for many other nights and days,” he leaned forward and gave her a peck on the lips.

“Do you understand?” he asked Onda, who was already dazzled.

“Come out of it,” he pinched her cheek.
