CHAPTER 38
Philip opened the door and Jimi was standing outside what was he doing here. After he refused to come home with them the other night Philip had not seen him till today although he called once but he wasn’t expecting to see him like this
And since he doesn’t work at the company anymore they didn’t run into each other until today
“Hey can I come in”
“Sure, don’t be a stranger you use to live here remember” he chuckled as they gave each other a bro hug
“But are you sure you are in the right place, you know it’s like you lost the address to this place”
“Phil am really sorry about the other night I dont know what came over me”
“Hmmmn which part exactly, coz I remember correctly when you called me a pathetic loser and told me to go to h’ll”
“I don’t know why I said those sht But you know you are not a loser, you are the guy, a good friend who took me in when I was at my lowest point regardless of I treat you, you are far from being a loser. I am the loser here Phil and It keeps getting worse”
“Jimi I don’t know what to tell you man. You really s¢rewed up. You lost it completely that night Jimi”
“I know, You have no idea how terrible I feel about the whole situation”
“Why now….! why did you decide to come now, did you crawl into a hole and realize just now that you have messed things up”
“Because no time felt right, I couldn’t bring myself to face you guys, no matter how I tried to erase that night I just can’t roll the dirt off am always going to be that guy. Too much in one head. I can seem to get my acts together, everytime I feel like am getting better I just turn back around and s¢rew things up even more”
“But you are stronger than that, you are better than that, smarter than that, don’t let this people choose what path you ought to take. The guy you’ve become the last few months is a role model. Don’t be that guy that takes two bold step forward only to take a U turn and go ten times backward”
“I made those steps because I wanted to impress someone not for myself at first that’s what I thought but it became something I wanted to reckon with. I became a much better version of myself and it all thanks to you”
“You did most of the work Jimi all by yourself.. Have you spoken to Diana”
“Nope ”
“Why not”
“She hasn’t been picking my calls”
“You know how she is”
“Yeah”
“And now she is not even at home”
“I figured, where has she gone”
“To some mother less home.”
“Hmmm. I see, maybe today isn’t such a bad day for reconciliation”

Jimi was standing outside there when their cab packed outside the house, Abby jumped out of the car and ran into his arms
Diana couldn’t stop her heart from almost leaping out of her chest, she tried to calm herself saying she had been scared about how Abby jumped out of the car without looking but truly it was from standing face to face with this man
Early today she concluded to put Jimi behind her and here he is finding his way into her head, her mind, her heart
As he moved closer, she tried to calm herself she wasn’t mentally prepared for this. Why did he decide to come today of all days
Philip carried Abby into his own apartment and everything become too quiet even Brady wasn’t barking anymore. It was just her and this man… This good for nothing two faced greedy man
“Diana” he called after awhile
“Can I help you?”
“You can help by putting a smile on ” he giggled but she glared at him with a stone cold frown
“What do you want”
“I want to apologize Diana”
“Apologize for what… You don’t owe me an apology”
“I do, I know I wronged you and am really sorry for the way I acted the other night I shouldn’t have spoken to you in that way, I’m really truly sorry”
“Don’t you think you are a little late for apologies”
“I was too ashamed to show myself to you, or even Philip or even Abby. I really thought I had left that life behind but I let myself get coined”
“Now you are blaming someone else for your mistakes”
“No, this is on me… Am not proud of it but am…. I’m not perfect, I admit it going to take awhile for me to change but I intend to give it my all, pls Diana don’t give up on me… I need you more than ever. I need you by my side”
“Am not caught up for your games Jimi. If you are looking for someone to mess with pls just look somewhere else”
“I swear I don’t wanna mess around anymore. Am moving pass that”
“Well am not going to be your test drive, a pawn in your road to becoming a better person”
“You are not a pawn Diana, you are my rock. So maybe I can’t change who I used to be but I know who I want to be with you by my side. Pls just gimme a chance to do better”
“I honestly don’t think that’s a good idea”
“It’s all I can offer but I want you to believe in me. Look beyond my flaws and shortcomings”
“That’s a big risk”
“Together it will become smaller”
“I don’t know Jimi. This doesn’t look like it can get us anywhere”
“We wouldn’t know until we try”
“A trial is what brought us to this point”
“And it all we need to keep going. One more chance Didi. And I promise not to mess this up”
Her head was screaming NO!NO!!NO!!!
But something else was coming out of her mouth
“Try and then what”
“We’ll take it one step at a time ”
“I hope I don’t regret this” she murmurs
“You’re not” he held her hands in his and caresss it
“So are you going to deny that you are sxually attracted to me” she had to ask and he burst into laughter
“Who wouldn’t be Diana, you are sxy as h’ll and No I won’t lie….. I do want you more than have ever wanted anything or anyone but only when you feel the same I won’t push you . At your own time”
Which is probably never… Diana said to herself
“Do you realize this would be your second chance”
“I know”
“So how do I know it not going to end up like the first one or even worse”
“I don’t know anything for sure and I can’t guarantee anything but what I do know is that you are special to me and I can not afford to lose you so am not going to give in to anything that can I ruin our relationship”
“And by that You mean alcohol ” he nods
” don’t go thinking that I come handy or cheap one bIoody mess up from you and it’s over… Nothing more. No sweet speeches can save you”
“It won’t get to that.. I’ll be more careful, and you are nowhere near handy or cheap you are far from that’… My lady”
“Don’t call me that… Let’s go in”
She watched Jimi entwined their hands, what the h’ll was she doing she was giving Jimi another chance or maybe she was giving herself another chance to change Jimi… She got out of it just to let herself get ropped in again. This is getting out of control
How can she manage to ruin a man like this.
Whose heart maybe made of steel
And his ways cunning as a fox
Yet he always sweeps her off her feet everytime he opens his mouth.
She thinks she’s in charge but truly Jimi Benson has taken the wheels from her
