CHAPTER 39
Diana stood by Anita’s table, waiting for her to show up, she’s still in the conference room having a meeting and she’s holding Diana back for no reason.
Frankly, she doesn’t even have the time nor energy to stand her and watch the boring set up of an office to an highly sophisticated infuriating person.
She might be the boss but she’s definitely a pain in the ass
Who the h’ll does she think she is?
How can she just go about making stupid rules and audacity?
Fine, she might be in charge here but she has no right to dictate what goes on in other people’s life or how they are suppose to live or use their time after work hours or as the case maybe during work hours when there’s an emergency
And time is what Diana doesn’t have at all, she’s just going to give this woman her piece of mind and state out the facts to her
Why on earth would she expect her to sit still and do nothing while her daughter is sick.
Anita walked into the office casually, the conference meeting had taken forever but she was glad it ended successfully, and now she just had to deal with this annoying pain in the ass
She strolled pass her and took her seat without meeting her gaze
“Hello to you Diana ” she took her seat
“What do you think you are doing” Diana went straight to the point
“Saying hello to you…..”
“Oh like I care about your fake dishonest greetings, I said hello to you this morning and every other morning but you never responded so just save your greetings ”
“I beg your pardon”
“Oh I beg your pardon.. Anita, what do you think you are doing”
Anita scoffs this girl has guts.
” am going to pretend like I didn’t hear you bluff out my first name, so tell me how can I help you Ms Ebenezer”
“You know what I want”
“I don’t know, have we discussed anything today”
“Am sure you are aware that my daughter is sick”
“Am not aware of no sure thing so stop accusing me falsely”
“Well now you know, can I get my permit exit now”
Anita laughs loudly
Oh so now she’s laughing, it was the most irritating sound Diana had ever heard
“What’s so funny”
“You! You’re so funny, what makes you think am going to just hand you an exit just like that, with the kind of attitude you just showed”
“I don’t have time for this, so are you giving me the permit or not”
“Am afraid not, you’re going to have to fix your attitude madam before you can get your permit”
“Excuse me”
“You heard me Diana and am not going to repeat myself. No because you don’t deserve it”
“Can you just listen to yourself like rewind back and listen to the jarguns that just came out of your mouth, do you expect a postcard to involve you that my child’s sick and I need to go”
“I really don’t care. You are working and you can’t go, wait until you’ve closed which is in an hour’s time so you can leave then…. Period!”
“Oh shut up, just shut up. so do you really think I’ll sit here while my baby needs me. You must be out of your mind.
In your entire life you may never have cared for anything or anyone other than your shtty self and your slimy engrossed attitude but I hope you know that I don’t give a dmn about your stupid and callous rules. I only stayed back because I thought even with rotten attitude you should have compassion somewhere in your stone cold heart, but I was wrong I gave you too much credit. You are so disgusting”
Anita stood up firmly and bang the desk firmly with her hands hardly
” Now that’s Enough!… I can see that you have lost your mind but I’ll not tolerate one more insultive word for you Diana. I think to a certain level we need to give each other some respect, no matter how ruthless and bada$s you think you are I am your boss and you dare not defy me”
“Oh s¢rew , respect, s¢rew authority, screw you boss.. You are in no place to restrict me, you have no hold on my life just because you authorize my pay cheque”
Anita took deep breaths. This is definitely not how she wanted this to go, she wanted her to apologise and then all these will be over and she’ll realize who’s in charge here
“Honey just go back to work, You are clearly not in the right firm of mind. You are losing it”
“To h’ll with you and your work Margaret thatcher, do you expect me to do anything in this situation. I should have left the minute I heard she fell sick but I thought it better to do it the right way but you intentionally delayed me here for over thirty minutes just to come here and slam some boss rules.
Do you think I give a dmn about you and your shoulder padded authority. The only reason I stick with you and your outrageous concept is all because of my daughter and now you think you can hold me down because of one stupid permit, look I didn’t exactly come here for your permit I came here to give you a fair display of your methods. You can’t hurt people and get away with it… Not in my own case”
“I can see you don’t value your job” she said with her head down
“Precisely like I said Anita I don’t give a dmn! About you, your work and your stupid permit… You can all go to he’ll.”
Diana opened the door to leave and Marcel was standing right outside the door, was there the whole time and he just stood there
“Diana . ” He called after her and she just hissed and walked away
“Oh thank God you are here Marcy… Can you imagine this girl” Anita walked to meet him by the door
“What happened, what did you do to her”
“Me… I didn’t even do anything, why would you think that I am at fault. You need to see the way she talked down on me like I was a piece of sht, there’s nothing she didn’t say to me just now, she called me all sort of names.. Have never felt so humiliated in my entirely life. This lady is crazy”
“Anita…. What just happened?”
“That’s what am trying to explain
Am just as stunt as you are, we were in a conference meeting and she received a call, that like offense no 1, then she had the audacity to want to leave this company without informing me. I mean what kind of a brainless chicken does that”
“Why did she want to leave”
“I don’t know, she came up with flimsy excuses that her daughter was sick and she needed to leave bla….bla… blah! can you imagine that”
“Her daughter is sick”
“Yeah that’s what she said, we can’t be bending rules because someone thinks she can throw us off with her daughter situation all the time”
“Why on earth would she lie about that”
“I don’t know, but it’s not the first time she’s leaving during work hours over the same Excuse. She planned the whole scenerio quite well and now she has no job to return to”
“What!” Marcel exclaimed
“Yeah, there’s nothing you can say Marcel am not letting that arrogant woman back here, she literally told me to go to h’ll”
“That’s not a way to handle situations like this”
“Oh really. Now you want to teach me how to handle my own office just because your favorite baby mama is involved.
“Can you listen to yourself Anita.
You’re pathetic why are you being so selfish… and unyielding. What would you do if something bad happens to her daughter, she’s a single mother Anita when the need arises she has to be there with her daughter at all times because she’s all she is and you expect her to stay here with you.
I can’t I have to lecture on common human sense because you refuse to embrace compassion. Just pray nothing bad happens to that girl or you’ll be getting more than just crushed ego ”
Marcel hissed and walked out of her office to catch up with Diana

Jimi knew it was a lame idea to move back to his parents house after the whole episode at their anniversary but it was either that or sleeping in an hotel
So now he owes his mom an explanation for checking in and out of the house again
She was reading newspapers when he arrived and that’s strange because she hates reading newspapers, she’d rather read them off a blog online or hear her husband grumble about it
Jimi left work early today to sign off some documents with his dad and also talk to his mom. So maybe the latter has to come first it was the tackiest of the two
“Good day mom”
“Folajimi Okomi’ (my husband) how are you”
“Am fine mom. Okay ma when did you start reading newspapers”
“Don’t mind me jare, it’s the junk your father litters the house with I just decide to pick one and see what your country is up to”
“And did you find anything interesting in there”
“Don’t even get me started. The situation of this country is alarming Jimi”
“The worse we’ve ever heard. Where’s daddy?”
“Upstairs taking a nap”
“Hmm I see”
“What brings you by this time of the day”
“I need to get these signed” he raised his documents
“Why didn’t you just bring it with you when you have closed or you are not going back to the office”
“Actually mom am not coming back to the house, am moving out …….again or should I say I never really moved back in”
He added and her face dropped
“What happened this time Jimi”
“Nothing ma , I’ve fix the issues I have with my people and I realized it is a cowardly move to be hiding out here”
“There’s nothing cowardly about moving back in with your parents”
“I know but am not moving back in ,I was already looking at a few apartments in Osborne”
“Why do you have to rent an apartment when you own an estate. Don’t be ridiculous Jimi”
“Am not staying here ma, I know you don’t like it but I can’t move back here either that’s not the way I want to live”
“But I know you folajimi you are my son . You always jump off the Cliff without thinking and now I think you are making the same mistake”
“Well let me make the mistake mom. If I fall from jumping I’ll learn to think first and if am bruised I’ll heal and lesson’s learnt. You can’t continue to shield me Mom. It’s time for me to spread my wings and fly”
Mrs Benson scoffs, she was always scared of this day. The day when her son will no longer need her as he use to but now she can’t really stop him
“I just want you to be happy son. Wherever you are”
“Well thanks mom. I am happy”
His phone rings and it was Marty calling
“Pls excuse me…… Hello Marty what’s up”
“Oh hi jimi. Am sorry to disturb you”
“Not at all is everything ok?”
“I don’t know if diana has reached you ”
“No she hasn’t”
“Abby’s sick jimi she was rushed to the clinic and I think it’s pretty serious because the school called me after they called diana about an hour ago and she hasn’t gotten there. I don’t know why but I think someone has to go there immediately and I can’t reach Diana”
“Oh okay I’ll go now. What clinic is that”
“Tenderheart hospital. It’s the school’s clinic just on the same street as the school”
“Oh I think I know there. I’ll be on my way now”
“Ok I’ll be joining you guys shortly I have to wrap up at work”
“No problem”
“Thanks jimi”
“You don’t have to thank me Marty. Abby is just like my daughter”
He hung up and his mother was staring Daggers at him
“Who’s just like your daughter”
“Oh ma, I have to go we will talk later”
“No tell me what’s going on. Who’s in a clinic”
“Abby”
“Who’s Abby?”
“My girlfriend’s daughter”
“Which of your girlfriends?”
“Geez mom . Too many questions, can we continue later. I have to go” he hurried off
“But Jimi. Wait! Who are you talking about and when did you start dating single mothers?” She was asking herself because Jimi was gone and his car was moving out of the compound
She pants slowly rubbing her forehead unsure of what her son has gotten himself into again

Simi was in the living room when Nancy showed up carrying a small shopping bag
“Hey girlfriend”
“Oh hi simi” she smiled flaunting her new hair
“Wow that looks good”
“Well thank you”
“You didn’t tell me you are coming”
“I didn’t even know you would be around, I thought you had that meeting today”
“It got canceled, so if you weren’t coming here to see me then who are you here for, and mom just went to her shop like five minutes ago”
“Am not here to see your mom, I’m actually to see jimi”
“Jimi…. ” Simi snatched the shopping bag from her and brought out, perfume and cuff links
“Are these for my brother”
“Actually.. Yes,” she plastered a big smile on her face and Simi couldn’t be more disappointed
“Well he moved, he is no longer here”
“Why… Where’d he go?”
“Back to where he came from…… If you had told me you were getting present for my brother I could have informed you that he is no longer here he only stayed for two weeks to gather himself, nothing permanent”
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you that jimi and I rebounded at your parent’s anniversary and the other day I was here we talked and things were going OK between us”
“You rebounded ” simi giggles
“When”
“At the anniversary and the other day on this couch we had an interesting conversation”
“Wow! That’s funny because jimi dropped by about an hour ago to tell my mom that he is moving out again”
“Oh shoot , so he was here. Shit! this hair too so damn long, I could have met him”
“You know it’s funny because he rushed off saying his girlfriend’s daughter was in the hospital and he had to go see her”
“Girlfriend….”
“Yes and you don’t have to look too far coz am sure you know which one is the baby mama”
“That can’t be jimi closed that chapter, am sure of it”
“Well am telling about what I just heard recently like two hours ago”
“But I don’t understand. It doesn’t make any sense”
“You are the one drawing conclusions into everything and daydreaming”
“See this is Exactly why I didn’t tell you coz you’d make fond of me, jimi and I are working things out”
“In what way”
“Well he is different, nicer”
“He’s different because of another girl Nancy. Jimi has no interest in getting back together with you so stop deceiving yourself”
“That’s not true, you see he told me that I am special…. You don’t understand”
“I do understand, I notice the change in Jimi’s behavior too, it was all because of a particular girl I missed my chance to meet her at the party and the only reason he was in this house for two weeks was because he offended her and he was only trying to find a way to get her to forgive him”
“No…..That’s impossible”
“Yes it is….”
“No simi, you are just trying to get me to back off jimi but I can’t”
“Why not, he doesnt want you . How long is it going to take for you to realize that”
“I don’t know But all I know is that I love him, I love him so much Simi so much”
“Well so do I, I love my brother and I love my best friend but both of you are not happening it is nothing but the sad truth”
“I’ll talk to Esther, she can help me out since you’ve given up on me. You think am a lost cause”
“I didn’t give up on you, and Esther is only after her own selfish gains she’s chasing after Jimi in worst ways than you can imagine”
“That’s bullsht”
“Don’t worry… I’ll prove it to you”
