Episode 12.
The next day Anastasia woke up and found out Hope temperature was high,
“Oh no, Anastasia said quite scared and tried to brea$tfeed her but it was not working.
“Dite! Ditebogo! Anastasia shouted carrying her, and Dite ran out from the kitchen.
“What’s wrong? Dite asked.
“Hope temperature is high, I don’t know what to do, Anastasia said.
“What? High? Should I bring in towel to keep it calm? Dite asked afraid.
“No no no I’ll just take her to the hospital, she’s too tender to start using all of this, Please take care of the kids I’ll reach you on phone, Anastasia said.
“OK OK please be fast, Dite said.
“Take her while I go change up, Anastasia said and went in while Dite carried Hope close pacing around………………
“Hello Anastasia how is she? Julia called later in the day.
“The doctor said she will be fine, I just finished brea$t feeding her anyway. Sorry about today, Anastasia said.
“No no you don’t have to apologize, please take care of her I beg you, Julia said.
“I will, how is Palesa? Anastasia asked.
“She’s fine, I’ll call you later to know how she is doing and if you need anything just ask okay, Julia said.
“Alright thanks, Anastasia said and the line went dead.
“Have you heard from your brother or won’t you let him know what’s going on? Who will pay the bills? Anastasia calmly asked Dite who was beside her.
“But you know this is your fault, Dite said with an angry tone and the look in her eyes made Anastasia scared.
“How is it my fault? Anastasia asked.
“Do you want me to tell the doctors how you do treat that baby? or should I scream it out and let everyone know the kind of mother you are who starved a little baby of love and brea$t milk like she was an orphan! Dite shouted.
“Calm down and keep your voice low. Please can we talk about this elsewhere? And you know this is not a good place to say this, let’s talk about the bills first please Dite, Anastasia said afraid.
“Oh let’s talk about the bills huh? I don’t Care about the bills but if this attitude continues with this baby, I will tell everyone the truth and give them proof! Dite shouted and walked away while Anastasia looked around making sure no body was hearing such a conversation.
“Hey God! What kind of a girl is this, Anastasia said covering her head on her palms.
Dite leaving Anastasia called up Mpho,
“Yes, how is she doing now? Mpho asked.
“The doctors were able to calm down her temperature,brother you know we have to pay the bills, Dite replied.
“I thought she has the capability to do that, or does she need my help? Mpho asked.
“Brother don’t start, right now I am mad with you both and I am asking you in the name of God to take Hope away from your problems. Take her out of it, she’s too tender for this and has suffered enough already! Dite shouted.
“Hey why are you this angry? Mpho asked surprised with her tone.
“Why won’t I be? You better get back here and pay the bills and let that little girl be out of here, Dite said and ended the call……………
That evening Mpho walked into the hospital and met Dite seated outside,
“Hey, where is she? Mpho asked but she only pointed to the room saying nothing to him.
He went in and met the Doctor just about leaving,
“You must be the girl father I assume? The Doctor asked.
“Yes, how is my baby? He asked.
“She’s good, she’s a brave girl, the Doctor replied.
“Thats good to hear, and where can I clear the bills? Mpho asked.
“The nurse will give you the details, the doctor replied and left.
“Look at your lovely hands, don’t worry you’ll be out here soon okay, Mpho turned and heard the nurse saying holding the hands of Hope.
“That’s her father, Anastasia said and she turned to look at him.
“Uhmm welcome sir, sorry your baby made you running down, The nurse said smiling.
“Yea and am happy she’s doing good. The Doctor actually told me to meet you for the bills, Mpho said.
“Oh yea I’ll compile that right away, the nurse replied.
“But we can leave today right? Mpho asked.
“Yea sure, if you want to, can you come with me please? The nurse asked and left while Mpho followed behind.
Anastasia was so happy seeing Mpho that she left the room to meet Dite,
“Thank you, I know you dragged him here, She said to her.
“I did it only for Hope, Dite replied not looking at her.
“Dite stop acting like i hate my daughter, if anyone hears that what will they think of me? You know the circumstances that came when Hope was born and the emotional challenges i came to face kind of made me drift away from the loving mother I suppose to be with her. Am sorry okay, I’ll change. No more starving her or treating her bad I promise, Anastasia said and Dite looked at her.
“You promise? Dite asked.
“I do, now can we stop being enemies? Though I’ve never told you this, but I really appreciate the way you care for my kids, Thank you, Anastasia said and Dite smirked.
“Is this real life? She asked and Anastasia laughed.
“You know i like the way you do talk, that boldness in you is what i admire most, even Mpho can’t stand a chance when you get angry, Anastasia said.
“Well its good you’ve changed though I haven’t seen that but i just hope you keep to your word. We are not sleeping here tonight right? Dite asked.
“No no, I think Mpho will clear everything so we can leave, i need to see my daughters, or else Faith will fight all her sisters, Anastasia said and Dite laughed.
“Are you sure Faith is not a boy? I think she changed gender on the way, she’s just too troublesome, Dite replied.
“Let’s go in then to wait for Mpho, Anastasia said and they went in together.
Minutes later Mpho entered the room and Anastasia got to meet him,
“We can go now, he said before she could say anything.
“Alright I’ll be taking the bags, Dite said carrying the bags while Anastasia swallowed and turned to carry Hope who was sleeping peacefully.
They arrived home and met the kids watching the TV while Faith was asleep. The kids ran hugging them while Mpho gave a little smile and went in,
“Why is Faith sleeping? Anastasia asked.
“She was crying with the station we were watching, Grace replied.
“And you didn’t change it for her? Anastasia.
“Mommy we always change it for her, Precious replied.
“It’s okay, am giving you few minutes to watch that, it’ll soon be time for bed, Anastasia said while Dite carried Faith to her room.
“OK mommy, how is baby? Grace asked.
“She’s fine now, I’ll be back, Anastasia said and went in with Hope.
She carefully laid her on the bed and Approached Mpho where he sat,
“I’m sorry okay, I shouldn’t have done that………… “That’s enough. Did you enjoy the freedom? Let’s not talk about it, Mpho interrupted her.
“Okay can i get you something to eat then? Anastasia asked.
“If you want to, he replied.
“I’ll be back, she said and left and Julia called on the way.
“Hi, I just got back home now, the baby is fine, Anastasia picked up.
“Oh thank God, we were so worried over here, Julia said.
“No no we are really fine, I’ll be at work tomorrow with her, Anastasia said.
“Alright if you want to. Good night, Julia said.
“Good night and please give Palesa a goodnight kss for me, Anastasia said and Julia gave a loud kss and they laughed together dropping the call while Anastasia smiled to herself in the kitchen..
“So suddenly i’ll be a loving mother to your daughter huh? Keep worrying about her and taking care of my Palesa, while I’ll keep up with the Pretense but it won’t last long. Enjoy while it last Hope, Anastasia said in her heart smiling scooping Mpho food………….
