Episode thirty four
Ava
Am finally face to face with the person that literally destroyed my life and is responsible for Maya’s condition.
I used to respect her alot before, even when she treated me like trash, but now, am not sure how I feel about her. She doesn’t even have any kind of remorse.
” So, what made you come back? Did you by any chance miss me? ” She asks a grin on her face.
” I never wanted to come back but i had to mum. ”
” I already told you not to call me that! I am not your mum,” She yells.
” What did I ever do to you? Why do you hate me this much?” I ask my voice shaky, tears threatening to fall down my face.
” You were born! And that completely ruined my life.Did you know that your mum got pregnant intentionally just to steal my husband away, ” She says shaking her head.” She was actually about to win, since your father spent most of his time with you and her but then a miracle happened and she died. That was the best day of my life.”
I can’t believe she just said that! But then what do I expect from a mon$ter like her.
” I hope you had nothing to do with her accident? “I ask tears streaming down.
” Believe it or not, I didn’t. It was all Gods plan. He punished her for breaking my family but she just had to leave you behind. I wish you died with her! ” she says glaring at me.
Wow! This woman has completely lost it. ”
” So what brings you here? Am sure you didn’t come to check up on me but wait….I think i know what brought you here,” I say wiping my tears. You want to make sure that Alex doesn’t find out that his mother is a m©nster, right ? ”
” Right. If you dare say a word to my son, I wont think twice before sending you back to the br©thel. ”
” And how will you manage to do that? ” I ask walking towards her and she’s surprised by my bold act.
I’ve never once disrespected her but enough is enough. It’s so clear that she hates me and nothing I say or do will change that.
” Just the same way I managed to the first time, my dear. ”
” Last time, I never had anyone watching over me but now, Alex has hired two bodyguards for me. I bet you didn’t know that huh? ” I say smiling.
“Don’t be to confident Ava. ”
” Don’t worry Alicia. I wasn’t planning on telling Alex anything, simply because I care about him and I don’t want him getting hurt. ”
” That’s good! Am happy to know that you at least have a brain that works, ” she says rolling her eyes. “Anyways, that was what brought me here and now that it’s solved, I hope never to see you again, ” she say walking out and banging the door behind her.

Vee
I go back down stairs the second I hear the door close. I find Rita seated silently, her hands covering her face.
” Hey, are you okay?” I ask sitting beside her.
She leans her head on my chest and cries her eyes out as I stroke her hair. She cries for a whole minute before she sits up and wipes her eyes.
” Am sorry, ” she says wiping her eyes. ” I came such a cry baby sometimes. ”
” It’s okay. Did she hurt you? ”
” Not physically, but she threatened to if I told Alex the truth. ”
” What are you planning to do? ”
” Nothing. I don’t want Alex getting hurt and fighting his mum all because of me. ”
Silent tears are still streaming down her face.
” Stop crying, you know that bitch doesn’t deserve your tears. ”
” I know of but she raised me and was my mother figure. I did everything for her to like me even just a little bit but she never did. Instead, she hated me even more. Is it that hard to love me vee? ”
” Come on Rita, what are you saying? You are the easiest person to love. You are not the problem, Alicia is. She’s blaming you for things you never had control over and that isn’t fair. If it’s any consolation, I love you a lot, ” I say a huge grin on my face.
She looks at me, a smile curved on her lips.
” Thank you for being here. You are the best. ”
” I know, right? ” I say and she let’s out a small chuckle. At least she’s smiling again.
” Enough of all this drama. Let’s get going, ” Rita says standing up and in a few minutes, we get to the firm.
” Vee… Where have you been? ” That’s cherry.
” Hi cherry, I hope I still have my job? ”
” I covered for you and that means you owe me one, okay? ”
” Thank you so damn much! ” I say sighing softly. ” You don’t know how scared I was. ”
The last thing i need now is to loose this job.
” You know that am always here for you boo, anyways, what happened to make you miss work? That’s so not you! ”
” Well….my sister had an accident. ”
” What? Am really sorry, I hope she gets better soon .”
” I hope so to, ” I say and then suddenly, someone turns me around and hugs me tight.
It’s George.
What is wrong with him?!
I think I can feel my bones breaking!
” Hey,” I say pushing him away. ” Are you trying to crash my or something?! ”
” Am sorry, am just so happy you are fine! I went over to your house this morning and someone told me that you had been shot.What happened? ”
” It’s a long story George. ”
Everyone is busy staring at us, their eyes wide open and others whispering something amongst themselves. Am sure they all think that am s¢rewing the “big boss” as they call him. This is so going to be the next office gossip for sure.
” Get back to work if you still treasure you job! ” George yells and everyone scatters off scared and then his eyes land on Rita. ” Ava?! You are back? ”
I watch as they hug.
” Yes am back and am sure you didn’t miss me since it took you this long to notice me. ”
” How could I not miss you, kiddo, ” he says messing up her hair and she frowns. ” Does your brother know about this? ”
” Yes he does and I thought you did to. Didn’t he come see you this morning? ”
” He did but didn’t tell me anything? ”
” That’s odd, ” Ava says creasing her eyebrows. ” Anyway vee and I are staying over at his place. ”
” Wait….what?! Vee and Alex living together?” George asks surprised, staring at me. ” How Did that happen? ”
” Like Vee said, it’s a long story. ”
” Okay, let’s go to my office so you can tell me all about it, ” George says gesturing for us to lead the way.
Merghan is busy glaring at us when she sees us and Rita glares back as we walk in the office.
” Are you still dating that crazy girl, ” Rita asks taking a seat and George suddenly gets uncomfortable.
“No…. We broke up.”
” Good! I really never liked her. ”
” I know, I remember you always told her to her face, ” he says with a smile shaking his head.
” Anyway, what happened is, ” Rita starts off and tells him everything, including what happened with Mike.
” I can’t believe all that happened and Alex never said a word to me! ” he says looking thoughtful. ” Am glad you and Maya are fine and don’t worry, am going to make sure Mike pays.”
” Thank you, but what I need right now is a few days from work. I need to take care of Maya. ”
” You know you can take all the time you need. ”
” Thank you, We have to go now, ” I say getting up. “We still have to go visit Maya. ”
” I can drive you guys there? ” George says.
” No need, we came in Rita’s car, but thanks anyway. ”
” Okay, I’ll see you guys later.”
I wave goodbye to cherry as we walk out of the building fast, before she starts bombarding me with questions. Am sure she’s itching to find out what kind of relationship I share with George.
Ava gets a call and stops to answer and I decide to wait for her in the car. As am walking to the car ,I spot a black car speeding towards me and i freeze!
My heart is beating so very fast as I close my eyes waiting for the impact, but am suddenly pulled away, landing on Someone.
Oh God! Am alive!
I can’t believe it!
