Chapter 5
“Who is he?” Martin asked calmly, but his tone showed how dangerous he was.
Evelyn didn’t want to answer him, but she knew better than to keep quiet.
“He is my friend,” Evelyn replied, glaring at him angrily, and his gaze diverted to Haris, who was kind of confused.
“Who is he?” He whispered in Evelyn’s ear, and Martin clenched his fist angrily. He didn’t like how they were close to each other.
‘Only he has the guts to be close to her,’ he thought, glaring at him, and Haris shivered as he met his gaze.
His eyes were filled with hatred and anger, yet a dangerous smirk formed on his lips.
“What… the… h’ll are you doing here?” Evelyn stuttered, fear still visible in her eyes, making the latter chuckle.
He liked it when she was scared of him, he liked being in control of her because he knew he could tell her what to do, and she wouldn’t dare disobey him.
Haris’s phone rang, and he picked up. Evelyn stared at him as he spoke on the phone.
She didn’t want him to leave; at least it wouldn’t be awkward.
Staying alone with Martin was like a death wish to her, and she really didn’t want to be alone with him.
“Evelyn, I need to go now,” he announced, and her eyes widened.
He quickly grabbed his hand, leaving Martin surprised, while Martin scoffed angrily.
“Please don’t go,” she pleaded, and Haris laughed.
“You have a visitor, I guess, so you won’t feel lonely,” he thought it was one of those times when she felt alone and needed someone to stay with her, but… this was more than that.
She needed someone to stand by her; she didn’t want to stay with the beast standing right there.
“Bye, sweetie,” he kssed her forehead, and Martin groaned loudly, making Haris stare at him.
They both stared at each other, one with anger and hatred, the other with fear and uncertainty.
She slowly moved back as Haris walked out. She tried to run up to her room, but she was already caught by one of Martin’s guards.
“Get your hands off her,” he yelled, and the guard quickly let go of her.
“Trying to run away from me again?” he asked in a teasing tone, and Evelyn gulped down in fear.
He sat down gently on the couch, his legs crossed like a boss.
“I am not working for you if you came here because of that,” Evelyn said, and he tilted his head to the side, staring at her with a weird smile.
“Your mother is at the hospital right now. Do you really think she is going to be happy with you when she finds out you have the chance to save her?” he said, and Evelyn’s eyes widened, not because of what he said, but because he knew about her mother, and she knew he was going to use that to his own advantage.
“Don’t you dare bring my mother into this,” she yelled, and that seemed to surprise the man sitting on the couch.
While they were dating, she had never once raised her voice at him, and seeing it right now, he just couldn’t stop smirking.
“You have grown bolder than I thought, Evelyn,” he said in a teasing tone, and the young woman just stared at him.
“The doctor gave you one month to provide money for the medication, and it’s already been three weeks, but… if you agree to work for me, I will give you the money for your mother’s medication before paying you your salary,” “He said, and Evelyn’s eyes widened.
She looked at him, trying to see if he was sincere.
“Call me if you are interested, and I’ll give you until 3 PM to think,” he said, though it sounded more like a command.
Evelyn looked at the wall clock and scoffed, turning to look at him.
It was only 2 PM already.
Not that he would let her be if she didn’t accept, but he was just trying to threaten her.
“It’s just 2 PM,” she shouted.
“Well, you can make your decision right now,” Martin said. She sighed before sitting down on the couch.
Working with Martin was a dangerous game, and she really didn’t want to be the victim.
Having Martin as her boss was something to be scared of, but her mother’s life was more important.
She knew him too well to be a playboy, which was something to be scared of.
Her purity, beautiful face, and attractive body were driving him crazy, and he wanted to have her all to himself.
“I’m going,” he said and stood up.
“Wait,” her tiny voice called out, and all he could do was smirk before turning to look at her.
“Fine, I agree to be your secre… secretary,” she finally agreed, making the man smile widely.
A smile that showed how happy he was to have her working for him.
“You made a good decision, Eve,” he moved closer to her, and she quickly moved back, not wanting to be close to him. Martin just rolled his eyes before moving away from her.
“Come early tomorrow, or else you will be punished,” he winked at her, making her gulp, and then he walked out of the house while his guards followed behind.
Evelyn sighed before sitting down on the bed, staring into space.
“I hope I made the right decision,” she said to herself.

“What the hell is wrong with you? He was just trying to be friendly with me,” Evelyn yelled, and Martin grabbed hold of her neck.
“Don’t you ever raise your voice at me again. I only have the guts to speak with you, not some random boys,” he said angrily and let go of her neck while she coughed violently on the floor…
