Chapter 6
She opened her eyes slowly, meeting the dark ceiling, and she sighed in relief, placing her hand on her chest.
It was all a dream or a trauma for her.
Her alarm ringing tone made her stand up from the bed hurriedly as she remembered she was starting a new job today.
She sighed when she remembered who was going to be her boss.

“You mind if I drop you off at your workplace?” Haris asked, and she just nodded.
She had told him yesterday that she was working. He was kind of happy, but if only he knew she was not happy about it.
“Where is little Ava?” he asked, looking around, trying to see if he could find the little one.
“She already went to school,” Evelyn replied.
“Come on, let’s get going. You might be late on your first day of work,” Haris said, and they both entered the car.
She looked out of the window as he started the car. Her mind was occupied; she was thinking so hard.
She hated so much to be working for that jerk. She had wanted to work at a restaurant, but the money was not big.
And now, when she got the opportunity to work in a company, it turned out that the boss was her nightmare.
How was it going to be for her during work?
“Are you bothered?” Haris asked, and Evelyn forced a smile, trying to sound okay, but she wasn’t good at pretending.
“Is there something wrong, Evelyn? Aren’t you happy you got the job?” Haris inquired, controlling his stare. Evelyn sighed and turned away from him.
“I am perfectly fine,” she replied.
“Okay,” Haris simply responded, but he knew it. He knew his best friend was not okay, but he wasn’t going to bother her with questions.
“I think we are here,” he announced, and that feeling came over her again.
She struggled with this feeling because it seemed to be tearing her apart inside and out.
“I’m scared,” Evelyn said as she looked at the tall building from the window.
“You don’t have to be,” Haris tried to calm her down, but it wasn’t working.
She took a deep breath before getting out of the car, and Haris did the same.
“Wow, that guy must be really rich to own this kind of company,” Haris said, and Evelyn scoffed because she found what he said funny.
Martin was obscenely wealthy. She remembered those days when they were dating, and most girls were jealous of her because he took her out every day, but… if only they knew what she was going through.
The sound of a honking horn made them turn around, and a Lamborghini drove into the compound, followed by two Lexus cars.
They rushed out of the car and quickly opened the door for him. He stepped out gracefully, like a king, adjusting his suit.
Evelyn nervously gulped, feeling fear as she watched him step outside.
He was dressed in a black suit, and one could tell at a glance that it was expensive.
He wore silver shoes that complemented the outfit, and he also had a gold chain around his neck.
His long hair was combed to the front, almost covering his eyes, making him even more handsome.
He turned his face to Evelyn and smirked, but his expression turned angry when he saw Haris standing close to her.
“Geez, did I ever do something to this guy?” Haris whispered in Evelyn’s ear, staring at Martin, who was glaring angrily at her.
“Okay, I better go. See you,” Haris said to Evelyn, quickly rushing into his car.
“Bye,” he blew a kss at Evelyn, who couldn’t help but laugh, and that seemed to make Martin angry.
He should be the one making her laugh, not some other boys.
When Haris finally drove away, she looked at Martin, who was still giving her that familiar look.
He was angry, and he felt possessive over her.
He stared at her for a few seconds before starting to walk into the building, and his guards wasted no time in following him.
Evelyn sighed before walking into the building as well.
As he walked in, all the staff quickly bowed their heads. They knew better than to stare at him, but as usual, some of the girls and boys couldn’t help but admire their handsome boss.
“Aww, he is so cute.”
“Look at his shoes.”
“I wish I could spend a night with him.”
“I’m so happy I got to see his fit body.”
That particular comment caught Evelyn’s attention as she walked behind him.
‘He slept with his workers,’ Evelyn thought to herself.

She rubbed her sweaty hands together, breathing heavily before pushing the door.
‘The office is really beautiful,’ she thought, looking around.
“You were late,” she turned around to see him sitting, his legs crossed.
“We arrived at the same time, didn’t we?” Evelyn asked, and Martin scoffed, standing up and moving towards her.
She instinctively stepped back until her back touched the wall.
He pinned her against the wall, and Evelyn stared at the floor, wishing for the ground to open up and swallow her. She despised their current position.
He lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his intense blue eyes.
“What on earth are you wearing?” he calmly asked, and Evelyn furrowed her brow, not understanding what he meant.
Her eyes widened as she felt his h.and sIip inside her skirt.
“What are you… What are you doing, Martin?” she stammered fearfully, not even attempting to push him away because she knew it would be futile.
“I’m trying to prove to you that this skirt is too short and I can touch you whenever I want.
So next time, wear something more modest. I don’t want other boys eyeing what is mine,” he said, smirking, while Evelyn simply stared at him.
“You still smell nice, Eve,” he sniffed her hair, causing her to shiver, and she angrily pvshed him away.
“I’m here to work as your secretary. I’m not here for ro..mance,” Evelyn said, her voice filled with anger, and he chuckled.
“We haven’t even begun the real ro..mance,” he smirked, and Evelyn sighed.
She knew this was a terrible idea.
“Get me some coffee,” he ordered, sitting back down in his chair…
