Chapter 10
The alarm woke her up, and she quickly stood up from the bed.
It was exactly 6:30, and she didn’t want to be late.
“Princess,” she called out loudly, tapping the little one who groaned but didn’t wake up. Evelyn smiled, staring at the cutie lying on the bed.
“Ava, you will be late for school,” Evelyn said as she searched for what to wear in the wardrobe.
She finally settled for a skirt, but she suddenly remembered what happened between Martin and her.
So she placed the skirt back and picked up a pair of trousers, laying them gently on the floor.
“Princess,” she tickled her, and the younger one burst into laughter, grabbing hold of Evelyn’s hair.
“You’re cheating,” Ava pouted her lips, and Evelyn chuckled.
“No morning kiss?” Ava said, still pouting her lips, and Evelyn rolled her eyes before placing a kss on her cheek.
“Go take your bath first, I will prepare your breakfast,” she said, and Ava nodded.
“Aren’t you going to be late for work?” the little one asked.
“Nope, now go take your bath,” Evelyn said, ruffling the younger one’s hair, making her smile and show her white teeth.
Evelyn smiled and walked out of the room.
“Haris,” she called out loudly when she saw no one on the couch.
“I am here,” he yelled from the kitchen.
You might be wondering if he stays with them. No, but sometimes he just stays with them.
“Hey, go take your bath. I’ve got this,” he said as she walked into the kitchen, and she just nodded, walking away.

“Don’t get into a fight at school,” Evelyn said, and Ava nodded before hugging her.
“Bye,” she waved and entered the school bus.
“Let’s go, Haris,” she said, trying to enter the car but stopped when two cars drove into the compound.
They rushed out of the car and opened the door for him as he stepped out majestically.
His eyes moved to Haris, and he frowned, glaring at him.
“Geez, I can’t remember offending this guy,” Haris said, looking away from him.
“You are going to enter my car to work,” he said, more like an order, and Evelyn scoffed.
“No, I will ride in Haris’ car,” she said boldly, and Martin scoffed.
He hates it when she doesn’t obey him.
“Evelyn, you are going to do whatever I say, or else…”
She cut him off.
“Excuse you, you came into my house to threaten me.” She yelled, and Haris just scoffed, staring confused at them.
He smirked, staring at her, and Evelyn narrowed her eyes, trying to observe him.
He might try to punish her and withhold money for her mother’s treatment.
She can’t risk that.
“Fine,” she hissed and turned around.
“Okay, bestie, I’ll see you later,” she waved and entered the car while Haris just smiled.
He knew something was up with them, but he wouldn’t ask Evelyn.
Martin had a smirk on his face as he stared at Evelyn, who was sitting beside him.
He bit his lips, admiring her, and he could swear he wanted to kss her.
She was dressed in purple jeans and a white long-sleeved shirt, making her look professional.
Evelyn was uncomfortable with the way he was staring at her but didn’t say anything.
She sighed when she felt his h.and on her thigh and she sI.apped his hand away.
“Get your hands far away from me,” she warned, and Martin just rolled his eyes.
He did not touch her again, but the way he was staring at her was making her feel uncomfortable.
She looked outside the window, trying to avoid his gaze, but she just couldn’t.
He placed his hand on his jaw and continued staring at her.
“Can you please stop staring at me,” she said, turning around to look at him.
“Nope, you are just so pretty,” he said, and Evelyn stared at him for a while before turning away from him.
“Sir, we are here,” the driver said as he parked the car, and Evelyn quickly stepped out of the car while a guard rushed to open the door for her.
As they walked towards the company, the staff bowed down. They stared at them with surprise as they walked past.
“Evelyn,” she heard someone scream, and when she turned around, she found Elizabeth waving at her, and she waved back.
Her eyes moved to a corner, and she met Grace… staring at her with pure hatred.

“Hmmm, check my schedule for today, and get me some coffee,” he said as they walked into his office.
She took out the notepad from her bag and opened it.
“You have a business date with Mrs. Tasha at 1 p.m., you have a business meeting at 4:30 p.m., and… and you are visiting Mrs. Jackson at the hospital,” she read.

“Wait… isn’t that my mother?” she asked, and Martin just rolled his eyes but didn’t answer her anyway.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing by visiting my mom?” Evelyn said angrily, and Martin huffed.
“I am giving you the money to pay today, and I want to be there,” he said, and Evelyn sighed.

While they were dating, they were both close to each other. Her mother loved him so much and had always wished they could get married. Seeing him today, she might pressure her to marry him.
