Chapter 7

“Could you please get me some coffee?” he ordered, and Evelyn sighed.

She hadn’t even entered her office yet.

She hissed and started walking towards the door, while Martin just bit his lip, staring at her as she walked out of the office.

He chuckled, still biting his lip. He admitted he had done wrong to her while they were dating, but that was between him alone. His pride wouldn’t let him apologize to Evelyn.

She walked through the big hall where there were many staff members, sighing as she looked around to see if there was a coffee shop.

She couldn’t even make a coffee.

She lowered her head shyly when she noticed the staff staring at her with disdain.

It seemed that the girls held animosity towards her, while the boys gazed at her $eductively.

She spotted a girl sitting at a table and walked towards her.

“Hey,” she smiled politely, but the girl glared at her harshly, making her gulp.

“Do you know where a coffee shop is?” she asked, and the girl hissed, pushing her away.

“I wonder what the boss sees in her that he went the extra mile to make her office more beautiful than any of ours,” the girl said, walking away. Evelyn sighed.

“She is just a bch and will get fired, just like the others,” another girl said, causing Evelyn to lower her head.

“Hey,” she felt someone touch her shoulder, and she turned around to see a girl smiling at her.

“Hi,” she faked a smile, and the other girl chuckled.

“You don’t have to pretend you’re okay, but seriously, you shouldn’t listen to whatever they say.

They’re just jealous that the boss made your office more beautiful than anyone else’s, even the past secretaries’,” she said, and Evelyn found it annoying.

“Is the office really that beautiful because of her?” she wondered.

“My name is Elizabeth, by the way,” the girl smiled.

“I’m Evelyn,” she replied, and they both smiled at each other.

“Come on, I know where the coffee shop is. It’s just a few blocks away from here,” Elizabeth said, dragging her out.

“Here’s the coffee,” Evelyn said, placing it on the table. She made an attempt to walk away, but he dragged her back, and she sighed.

She was tired of being dragged around by him.

“Why were you late?” he whispered, holding her waist from behind, making her shiver.

“I didn’t… didn’t know the coffee shop at first, but a girl showed me,” she said, bowing her head.

She was just so scared of him.

He turned her around and placed her on the table, coming between her legs, while she gasped, trying to push him away, but it was futile.

“You look so beautiful, Evelyn,” he whispered, attempting to kss her lips, but she did something unexpected… She slapped him.

Everything became silent, and only the sound of distant conversations could be heard. Evelyn’s eyes widened as she realized what she had done.

“I’m sorry, Martin. I didn’t mean to do it,” she said, trembling in fear, while Martin stared at her with a blank expression.

She had only tried to defend herself, but the fear inside her was overwhelming.

She tried to jump down from the table, but he grabbed her shirt, almost pulling off a button. Her eyes widened as she tried to remove his hand.

“If you think that will stop me from kissing you, then you must be silly,” he said, pulling her closer. He tried to kiss her again, but she covered her mouth, while Martin struggled to remove her hand.

She was determined never to allow him to do whatever he was planning. With all her might, she pushed him, and almost immediately, the door swung open, revealing a young girl.

Her eyes widened at the sight before her, and she quickly turned around while Evelyn jumped down from the table.

Angry glares were exchanged between them. He winked at her, and she rushed out of the office, ignoring the stares from the unknown girl.

As she stepped out of the office, she placed her hand on her chest.

One mistake she had made was falling for Martin and dating him. It had led to a traumatic experience, and she would never allow herself to be used by him again.

When she saw her own office, she turned sideways. It was located really close to his, and the fact that both offices had glass walls meant they could see each other through it.

Through the glass, she could see inside his office, and it was beautifully decorated.

She gently opened the door and stepped inside, her eyes widening.

“Wow,” she muttered, looking around.

The office was absolutely amazing.

A dark walnut bookcase lined the entire left-hand wall. There was a leather sofa with a fur rug on the back and an Indian blanket draped over the arm.

The opposite wall had a large fireplace and mantle dominating the center, with bookshelves on either side.

On the mantle, there were two antique clocks and a painting of three jazz musicians.

To the right, there was a television on a shelf. In front of that shelf stood an upright piano and a bench, both made of dark walnut.

There was a double door between her desk and the piano, leading out to the patio. On her side of the door was a large walnut desk with a glass top.

The chair was a captain-style chair with wheels, featuring a leather seat and back.

Behind her, to the left, was another bookshelf on top of a matching file cabinet.

“Wow,” Evelyn muttered, staring around.

She was incredibly impressed by what she saw.

She turned around, and her gaze met Martin’s, who was standing close to the glass, staring at her.

She gulped and slowly turned around, trying to avoid his gaze.

“Why do we have to see each other like this?” she muttered to herself.

She hated it so much. Seeing him was annoying.

She remembered a time when she couldn’t go a day without seeing his face, but now it was just irritating.

She eyed him angrily before sitting down on the couch, still staring around, though.

Almost immediately, the telephone rang. She looked at the glass and saw him with a telephone as well, smirking at her.

He was the one calling.

She sighed and picked it up.

?”See me in my office,” his deep voice echoed through the telephone, and she sighed, turning to look at him. He just winked.

Did she make the right choice coming to work here?

She sighed and walked out of the office, heading to his.

She straightened her skirt before knocking on the door. He didn’t reply, so she pushed the door open.

Immediately, she opened the door, she was pvshed against the glass, and then he attacked her lips, kssing her roughly.

Her eyes widened, and she struggled to push him away, but he held her hands against the glass, still kssing her.

He pulled away from the kss and smirked at her, gently kssing her neck, making her shiver.

“You know me too well, Evelyn. Nothing stops me from doing what I want,” he whispered close to her lips, gently taking her lower lip between his.

“Kss me,” he whispered into her ear and gently nibbled on it.

“Over my dead body,” she spat in his face. He smirked and then used his free hand to wipe the saliva from his face before licking it off, eliciting a disgusted groan from Evelyn.

“You taste sweet,” he whispered, biting his lips $eductively while softly tracing his hand over her bbs, causing her breath to quicken.

She struggled to hold back her m..oans, and the dvil noticed, a smirk forming on his lips.
