?Melanie pov?
“Now mel,take that to them”martha said instructing me to take the food to where alex and his parents were having their dinner along with sarah and her parents
I didnt want to show face at the dinner table
Knowing sarah,i knew she would cause trouble and thats why i didnt want to show my face
Alex was going to call off the engagement tonight
Andi wonder how sarah and the rest would take it
But what am most worried about is the king
I wonder how he would react,would he suspect that it was because of me that alex is cancelling the engagement
I walked into the room only not to find the king there but i did see the queen,alex along with sarah and her parents
I bowed gently and dropped the food
I saw sarah starring at me with malice
“Mom ,dad meet the alex new personal maid,melanie”she said suddenly making everyone stare at me
Alex who hadnt been saying a thing stare at me
“Isnt she too pretty to be a personal maid”sarah mom said
“And besides a personal maid,should be about 50 years of age,why choose a young one “sarah father said
“And alex you have poor taste in picking your personal maid,why choose a poor thing as her”Sarah added
And at that instant alex hit the table,making everyone stare at him
“Stop belittling melanie,she is the one i chose to be my maid,so live with it”he said looking annoyed
“Son they were only joking,no need to get so angry”the queen said
“And why are you even angry,is it because you like her,you stuck to her like a glue through the whole of today”Sarah yelled standing up
“Have had enough of this sht,you really want to know why i stuck to melanie throughout today,you really want to know”he said
I stood shocked,alex shouldnt say a thing ,he musnt say it,i thought starring at him,willing him to look at me so i can give him a sign for him not to say a thing and he did
I quickly whispered to him “dont please”
He got the whispering because he stopped himself
“Kids,lets stop this,its your wedding we are talking about here,so lets sit back and continue “sarah dad said
“Am sorry sir but there will be no wedding to talk about”he said
“What are you saying”the queen said
“Am calling the engagement off,i dont want to get married and thats final “he said leaving the table
“Alexander ,alexander come back here”his mom kept calling but he didnt answer
I saw sarah crying into on her mom shoulders
I should have just stopped him,i shouldnt have let him call off the engagement for me,i thought starring at them
It took a while for us to pack up and when we did i was tired
I was heading to my room with alicia when my phone rang
I picked it and it was alex
“I need you melanie,please come to the garden”he said
” i….”
“Please melanie”he said and switched off the phone
“I have to do something Alicia ,i will see later on”i said as i walked off
I got to the garden to find no escourt there
I found him standing beside the roses,starring at it,he had a sad expression on his face and why he had that i had no idea
“Alex “i said and he turned,immediately he saw me,he walked to me and hugged me
“You look sad,whats wrong “i said holding him closer
“This is the first time am going against my parents wish and i wonder how they would feel or react if they knew of our relationship “he said
“Its what am scared of too,thats why i kept rejecting you,if your worried about your parents and going against their wish,i can just step aside”i said
“Dont you ever say such a thing okay,we havent even started a relationship and your already thinking of stepping aside,that wont ever happen melanie,no one is stepping aside”he said
“But i…….”
“Shhhhhh……..what matters is that we both love each other a lot,dont ever think of leaving me okay”he said resting his forehead on mine
“What about your parents ,whatabout Sarah “i said
“Sarah will just have to move on and my parents will have to deal with it,all i know is that i love you and cant live without you”he said
I pulled him close and hugged him
“Thanks Alex ”
“Why are you thanking me?”
“For loving me even with all my flaws”i said
“And what would those flaws be”
“Me being poor and a maid and……”i couldnt finish my word because alex kssed me
I was taken aback at first but i soon joined in the kss,this guy really liked to kss and am becoming a good learner,i thought happily
“Never ever say that you have a flaw,your perfect in every way melanie”he said pulling me close
And i felt so happy wishing that everyone else would disappear but i knew that wouldnt be possible ,sometime i would have to come back to reality but not now,i will relish this night with the one i love
THE NEXT DAY???
I woke up only to find my mom starring at me
I had remember that she had a questioning look on her face when she saw me with the prince yesterday
“Goodmorning mom”i said
“Morning my child”she said moving a bit from me
“Whats wrong mom”i said as i sat up
“Tell me the truth,what do you have going with the prince”
“With the prince?have got nothing going on with him mom”i said
“Are you sure because you both are way too close ”
“Mom am just his personal maid,we have nothing going on and besides what would a prince see in me”i said
“Precisely that,he is a prince melanie,if you fall for him,it will be a big mistake because we are poor and they would never let a prince be with a maid,so my child dont make the mistake of falling for him”she said
“I wont mom,i already know where i stand with the prince “i said
Mom was right and although lying to her hurt but nothing can be done again because am already inlove with him
I got dressed and instead of accompanying him to school,i went on my own
I was still walking down the estate street when a car stopped beside me
“Melanie”he called out to me and i bowed
“Why are you going to school on your own “alex said
“I have somethings to do before going to school your highness”i said
“Cant we do it together”he said wanting to get out of the car but i quickly walked to it holding the door
“I mean it your highness,i have to do something alone as soon as am through,i will head to school”
“You arent changing your mind right?”
“No i havent my dearest prince “i whispered to him
“Fine then,i will be waiting for you at school”he said as i waved him off
I had nowhere to go,i just wanted to be on my own for a while
I got to the bustop only for me to miss the bus that will take me to school
I was still waiting when suddenly a motorbike stopped right infront of me
“Hop on or you would be late”he said
The person had an helmet on his head but when he pulled it off it turned out to be rex
