CHAPTER 18
Jemma walked out of the room without saying a word.
“Eli how dare you speak to your mother in that tone? Have you lost your mind? Caleb say something to the kids, they’re really losing it. Putting all the blame on my sister for your divorce is unfair and I won’t accept that” Fanny said seriously as they ran into the room on hearing Eli’s voice but Caleb kept mute.
“See, even dad has nothing to say about it. Isn’t it obvious that mum is the only one who really wants to push through with the divorce” Eli said coldly.
“What a hypocrite you are Caleb! Why won’t you speak up and tell them exactly what’s going on? Why can’t you come clean?” Fanny yelled and Caleb clenched his fist.
“Fanny watch what you say to me in front of my kids. I won’t take it lightly with you if they misunderstand me so watch it” Caleb warned and Fanny looked at him, quite perplexed with his words.
“Eli, you just woke up. You shouldn’t be yelling or creating a scene. You’re still at the hospital and you need rest” Caleb added with a half smile.
“Dad why are you not scolding me for drinking and driving?” Eli asked slowly.
“Like I said, you’re still at the hospital. When you get discharged, we will talk about that then so get some rest. I will head back home now, I need sleep early because I need to be present for tomorrow’s conference meeting” Caleb announced and Eli nodded.
“Alright Dad, go ahead and don’t worry about me” Eli said calmly and Caleb nodded before leaving.
“Cousin you scared the hell out of all of us” Linda pouted as she hit Eli lightly.
“Exactly… You didn’t even bother to think of us when you did that” Josie whined and Eli smiled.
“Relax okay, I’m fine now. You don’t have to worry anymore”
“How am I supposed to stop worrying… You ruined your pretty face, you might lose so many secret admirers because of this” Josie teased.
“These are just little bruises, I will be fine in no time. Josie, Linda I’m pretty sure it’s getting late. The both of you have to go to school tomorrow so you should head back home now” Eli said and Fanny had a glance at her wristwatch.

Caleb went to the parking lot but Jemma was in front of his car waiting for him.
“Jemma what are you doing here? I thought you went home already” Caleb asked looking away.
“Why won’t you ask me, why have I not said anything to the kids yet” Jemma uttered coldly and Caleb looked at her.
“Because you have a cockroach in your cupboard as well and don’t forget you have to bear the consequences of your decision and that’s what you’re doing right now” Caleb said shamelessly and Jemma laughed.
“After 23 years for being together with you, I’m just seeing this side of you for the first time. Have you always been this shameless. Eli and Josie will find out the whole truth when it’s time, you can’t get away so easily. Caleb you will regret ever knowing Olivia. I don’t need you anymore so enjoy the little time you still have with the kids and wait patiently for the day, they find out the whole truth” Jemma said seriously then walked away.
“What if I say I don’t want to get a divorce anymore? You can’t force me to push through with it” Caleb said and Jemma stopped walking.
“You’ve got nothing to hold me back with but I’ve got lots of things against you and you might even end up in jail so don’t push it. You can’t force me to be with you, I don’t love you anymore and you don’t either so let’s give each other some respect before we part our separate ways” Jemma said without turning back.
“I will still have the right to come visit my children right?” Caleb asked calmly.
“They’re not kids anymore, you can see them whenever you want to but you’re never going to step foot inside my house” Jemma said and left.
Caleb stared at her as she went into the hospital.

“Eli’s right girls so let’s go home. You can come visit him tomorrow. Luckily he’s out of danger now, just focus on getting a good night rest. Where’s Jemma by the way?” Fanny asked looking at the door and just then Jemma walked in with a paper bag in her hand.
“Fanny take the girls home, I will stay here for awhile then head back home as well” Jemma instructed.
“You don’t have to be here. I can take care of myself, I only broke an arm not my whole body so don’t act like you care” Eli said sarcastically and Jemma pressed his arm that had a cast on.
“Ouch!” Eli winced.
“What are you doing Mum? He broke that arm for goodness sake” Josie cut in arrogantly.
“Do I look like I don’t know that… Fanny take them home” Jemma instructed.
“Good night Aunt” Linda said with a smile.
“Good night Linda and good night to you too Josie” Jemma said without looking and Josie peeked Eli’s cheeks.
“Good night bro, take care ok” Josie smiled then went out of the room with Linda.
“Eli we will have a proper talk tomorrow when I come here. Good night and sis stay safe okay” Fanny said before leaving.
“You really don’t have to be here and you’re the last person I want to be with right now”
“You’re just like a vegetable right now. What can you do to chase me out? Nothing so just shut it and eat something. I don’t want to be here either so stop acting like you’re very important” Jemma said coldly as she sat down and Eli scoffed.
“Of course I’m important, you don’t have to say it. I’m important to my mother’s side and also my father’s, I’m the heir on both side so I’m very important. My grandfolks can’t live without me” Eli bragged and Jemma chuckled as she untied the food delivery packet.
“You’re only keeping that title because you don’t know your other sibling” Jemma said coldly and Eli glared at her.
“What do you mean?” Eli asked curiously.
“Have it, your other hand is still working so feed yourself” Jemma said placing the food on the bed table.
“I really hate the idea of you getting a divorce with Dad. It’s not too late to change your mind. Neither of us want that so that alone should serve as an option” Eli said coldly as he began to eat.
“You don’t have to worry about living with me after the divorce since you will be relocating to the States. When Josie finishes high school, I will send her there to come join you and your grandparents” Jemma said with a blank expression and Eli dropped his chopsticks.
“I’ve lost my appetite. You can leave now, I’m done eating” Eli said rudely and Jemma stared at him.
“I might be wealthy but I don’t waste food. You’ve got all the energy to finish your food so go ahead and finish it” Jemma ordered.
“I said I’m not hungry anymore. Will you force me to eat as well” Eli half yelled.
“Eli don’t be a brat and finish your food. Other kids will plead with their mum and be nice to her so she would be understanding of them but why’s you and Josie’s case different? Do you think it’s easy for me to wake up and decide to get a divorce. We’ve been living happily even though your dad always missed the most special moments of our lives. I never planned for our future to be this way so the both of you should stop making things harder for me.
Finish your food Eli before I bounce on you” Jemma yelled and Eli picked up his chopsticks quickly as he continued eating.
Minutes later Eli was done eating. Jemma cleared up everywhere.
“I’m done eating, can you go home now? I really want to be left alone right now” Eli said coldly.
“I will leave after cleaning you up” Jemma said with a bowl of water and a towel.
“Mum I’m not a kid anymore. I can clean myself up” Eli said with a frown.
“Clean yourself up with one hand or do you think your dad that you love so much, will come do it for you. You can’t ruin my reputation not even at the hospital so stay put I will be done in no time” Jemma said wiping his legs with a wet towel.
Eli smiled secretly as he watched his mum clean him up passionately and seized smiling immediately he remembered Jemma’s decision.

NEXT MORNING****
Jemma’s alarm started ringing. It woke her and Eli. Jemma slept off at the hospital as she looked after him the whole night.
“Why’s your alarm so loud” Eli groaned sluggishly with his eyes closed.
Jemma stood up from the couch yawning as she stretched her arms. She had a glance at the wall clock.
“What! I’m late for the meeting!” Jemma screamed then dashed out of the room with her phone.
“Wait a minute, she spent the night here?” Eli questioned in surprise as he opened his eyes.

~~GG DIAMONDS BUILDING**
All the board members are all seated at the conference room waiting for Jemma.
“Is the CEO still coming or what? Has she forgotten this meeting matters a lot to GG diamonds. How can she be so irresponsible” One of the board members spoke out angrily.
“Mr Chen, you should speak up for the CEO. She’s your wife after all” One of the board members whispered to Caleb and Weston stood up.
“The CEO informed my secretary she would be coming late today and that’s why she sent the marketing project to Mr Chen” Weston said and Caleb looked at him a bit confused.
“What do you mean?” Caleb murmured going through his computer and he saw the project file.
“Exactly. Mr Hong is right so I will go ahead with the presentation” Caleb said with a smile as he stood up.
** FLASHBACK ~
“Vicky why’s Jemma not in her office yet?” Weston asked as he came into the company.
“I heard her son got into an accident last night so I think she will be late today” He informed.
“You have the presentation on your phone right? Email it to Mr Chen right now, we should have a backup plan” Weston cut in sharply.
“Right away boss” Vicky said then emailed it to Chen with his tablet.
FLASHBACK ENDS***
The meeting was over when Jemma ran into the conference room.
“That was a brilliant marketing strategy Mrs Chen. Opening a new branch was a beautiful idea we will think about it separately and get back to you. Hope for a positive reply” The board members said with a smile.
“Of course, thanks for that” Jemma said smiling as she caught her breath and they all left remaining just Caleb and Weston.
“What the h’ll were you thinking, you knew how important today is. How can you be so irresponsible” Caleb said seriously and left the conference room.
“Brilliant proposal Mrs Chen” Weston smiled then left with his secretary.
“What happened here?” Jemma questioned still confused.
Weston walked to his car and Gabriel’s call came in.
“Why are you calling Gab? I was in a meeting” Weston complained over the phone.
“I just heard of Jemma’s family issue. He’s a gonna. I just messed everything up for him. He won’t believe what hit him”
“What did you do Gabriel?” Weston asked curiously and Gabriel chuckled.
“Take a guess!”
