CHAPTER 47
Jemma was still on call with her Dad when Eli came into the sitting room.
“Dad, after so many years of waiting for your call. I can’t believe you only called to inform me this.
Don’t you think it’s high time you come back home, I’m pretty sure you’ve heard of my achievements over the years” Jemma said bitterly.
“You were only eligible to this year’s award because someone with potential thought you deserved it so I don’t it’s an achievement made on your own. Say hello to Fanny when you meet with her” Jemma’s Dad said and hung up.
“Hello dad!” Jemma screamed over the phone and Eli came to her.
“Mum, I’ve…” Eli couldn’t complete his statement when Jemma cut in.
“How could you do this to me Eli? How could you make a decision like this without telling me about it? Am I a stranger to you now?” Jemma asked almost in tears and Josie joined them at the sitting room.
“What’s going on Mum?” Josie asked curiously as she noticed the sad look on Jemma’s face.
“I’m sorry mum but I think that’s the best decision I can make right now. I’m sorry if I didn’t share it with you in the first place” Eli said sadly.
“Bro, what’s going on? What’s with the atmosphere here? Did something happen? What’s with the gloomy faces” Josie threw in.
“I thought you said you’re fine with my relationship with Weston. Eli what’s going on exactly? Did I do something wrong? Are you upset with me? I don’t get it why you chose to leave Korea now of all times” Jemma asked slowly.
“Leave? Bro where are you going? Mum what relationship?” Josie asked curiously.
“Josie you need to calm down. I’m only leaving for a few years but I will be back before you even notice” Eli said with a smile.
“Few years?” Jemma and Josie chorused.
“Bro please don’t go” Josie said as she boost into tears and she ran into Eli’s embrace.
“Why now of all times? Eli is there something you’re not telling us?” Jemma asked curiously.
“Relax mum, I’m only going there to gain some practical aspect of dream of being a designer. Grandpa suggested I come stay with him while I learn from him.
Mum you know how I’ve always loveed to learn from grandpa and this is the only time, I will be free to do this because I will be joining the company immediately after I graduate so please mum don’t stop me” Eli explained.
“You and your silly dreams. What about your sister and I? We’ve never stayed apart, don’t you think this is like a huge blow on our faces.
Eli your grandpa isn’t just some oldie, he’s one hell of a strict dude. Are you sure you still want to go live with him?” Jemma asked worriedly.
“Mum I think grandpa’s only strict when it comes to you. He has never been that way towards me or Josie. You worry too much mum” Eli said with a smile.
“You’re not leaving because of my relationship with Weston?” Jemma asked and Josie turned to Jemma.
“Who’s Weston mum?” Josie asked curiously.
Jemma blinked nervously but Eli spoke up for her.
“Weston is a very good man, who has history with mum. Josie do you remember the story grandpa told us about mum when she was younger” Eli asked calmly and Josie sniffed back her tears.
“Yes” She said slowly.
“He’s Weston and he’s back to Seoul. To cut the whole story short, mum have found someone worthy of her so I would appreciate it if you don’t misunderstand mum” Eli explained.
Josie stared at Jemma for a while with a blank expression on her face.
Jemma exhaled anxiously as they patiently waited for Josie’s response.
“What’s this? Are we supposed to be a family or what? Mum got herself a boyfriend, bro you decided to fly to the states without sharing it with either of us.
What even hurts more is that, mum you decided to share your relationship status with just my brother.
What about me Mum? Were you scared I would make a fuss about it” Josie questioned with a frown.
“Josie, I’m sorry about my late notification on my travel but I promise, I didn’t intend on keeping it away from you all and mum planned on telling you about Weston but she didn’t want to make it sound weird or upsetting that’s why she’s waiting for a good time to share it with you” Eli explained and Jemma nodded.
“Eli’s right Josie and I don’t think neither of us should take Eli’s travel the wrong way.
He has finally gotten the opportunity to learn designing, we should be happy for him” Jemma said and boost into tears.
“Mum!” Eli and Josie called out as they joined Jemma in sobbing. They both hugged her.
“I will miss you so much son” Jemma cried.
“I will be gone only for a few years. I’m sorry, it’s coming late” Eli apologized trying to hold back his tears.
“Bro, please don’t go” Josie sobbed heavily and Eli smiled.
“Why are you crying? If you miss me so much, you can come visiting at the states. You’re forgetting the kind of mum you’ve got.
Whenever you miss me, you should fly down to the state, I promise to take you out to beautiful places” Eli assured and Josie broke the hug in excitement.
“Mum, am I allowed to do that?” Josie asked excitedly and Jemma smiled.
“Of course, you can always go visit your grandpa and brother if you wish” Jemma said with a sad smile.
“But that will make me feel even more lonelier” Jemma said slowly with tears rolling down her cheeks.
“Mum, please don’t sound like this. You’re breaking my heart”
“I’m sorry, I don’t know much about designing. I guess I should have learnt it when father planned on teaching me then maybe you wouldn’t have to leave to go learn it elsewhere” Jemma said sadly.
“Mum, it’s not just anywhere but grandpa’s. I’m so excited about it mum, grandpa always had an issue with we all visiting when Dad was around but now it’s different, I guess it’s also an advantage that you got divorced with Dad” Eli said with a smile.
“When are you leaving Eli?” Jemma asked wiping off her tears.
“In two days time”
“So fast, why the hurry Eli?” Jemma asked curiously.
I wish to leave Seoul as soon as possible. So I don’t wish to run into someone I’m trying to move on from.
