Ruby looked at him in shock.
“Zed what did you just say? Eli you’re leaving Seoul?” Ruby asked breathlessly.
“You had no idea as well? Eli’s transferring to the states” Zed announced and unforseen tears roll down from Ruby’s eyes uncontrollably.
“Eli is that true?” Ruby managed to utter.
“That was why I called you Ruby. I wanted to tell you before Zed cut in” Eli said slowly.
“Is that why you’ve been giving me that crap of a lecture? Did I tell you I needed advice from you? If you were planning on leaving you should have just went straight ahead and tell me. Why bother having lunch with me” Ruby half yelled still in tears.
“It’s not like my leaving will make any difference so I don’t think you should be causing a scene”
“Of course, she should cause a scene. A leave out of the blue. You couldn’t even share it with me and you say I’m your best friend. Is this what best friends do?” Zed said seriously.
“Not you too Zed. Why are you complaining so much when you can always come visiting. I will welcome you with open arms” Eli smiled.
“For how long will you be away?” Zed asked looking away.
“Two years. I will be rounding up my studies over there so I’m hoping you come for my graduation”
“Two years! Eli did you just say two years” Zed screamed.
“Two freaking years and you’re just informing us now” Ruby said with a frown.
“I’m sorry about that guys. I should have informed you guys before I even made up my mind but trust me, it’s also so sudden for me so I’m hoping you believe me” Eli said.
“Wait a minute, is this what you were trying to tell me the other night?” Zed asked as he recalled.
“I guess” Eli said slowly and Zed hugged him tight.
“I should have given you a listening ears. I’m at fault for not being there when you needed me most.
I’m sorry I’m such a jerk and selfish bastard” Zed cursed himself and Eli broke the hug.
“Zed can you wait for me at the car. I want to have a word with Ruby” Eli said.
“Alright” Zed sniffed then went out.
“What more do you have to say?” Ruby asked rudely as she looked away.
“Ruby, I can’t leave without sharing with you my true feelings” Eli said and Ruby stared at him.
“I want to admit what I feel, this might be my last chance of doing so. I love you Ruby, I honestly do but just so you know, we can’t always get what we want. But I promise to make it up to you when I get back” Eli said and pursed.
He slipped his palms gently into Ruby’s on the table.
“When I get back and what I feel for you is still there then I will make it up to you and I will try to fit into your twenty first century thing” Eli said with a smile and Ruby smiled widely.
“I will wait for you Eli” Ruby uttered.
“Please don’t do that. I should be the only one carrying this burden.
You deserve happiness and I hope you get to feel such happiness when I’m away so don’t wait for me. I forbid you from doing that”
“But we can still be friends right?”
“I’m sorry Ruby but I don’t think that’s possible either. As much as I hate telling lies to people, I hate doing it to myself as well, I can’t be friends with you.
I wish you good luck in your studies and happiness for the rest of your life.
I’ve got all the tutorials for the courses you have difficulties with, I sent it to you through your email. Go through them when you’re chanced” Eli said and stood up.
Ruby stared at Eli and she sniffed in back her tears.
“I will try my possible best to be happy since that’s what you wish for me the most. Have a good stay at the states” Ruby said grinning as she wiped off her tears.
“That’s more like it. I’m hoping you don’t get rebellious when you see my mum together with your dad, she’s completely innocent she has no idea about us” Eli said and Ruby nodded.
“I’m not the bad one okay. I also want my dad to be happy” Ruby pouted and Eli smirked.
“I will leave now” Eli said and left the cafeteria without turning back.

LOS ANGELOS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT**
Eli arrived at Los Angeles airport. Mr Vicky his grandpa was full of excitement while he waited for Eli at the waiting area.
“Grandpa!” Eli called out grinning from ear to ear as he ran to his grandpa and gave him a tight hug.
“Eli my boy, I’ve missed you so much my boy” Mr Vicky said joyfully.
“I’ve missed you even more grandpa. You refused to come visiting” Eli said as they broke the hug and Mr Vicky pouted.
“I’m only trying to teach your mother a lesson for messing with my judgement”
“Come on grandpa, it’s been 23 years already and lucky us, she’s divorced with Dad already. Your dream groom for her, has finally arrived” Eli said smiling.
“I’ve heard of it but hearing it from you again sounds like a melody in my ears. I’m so happy, my boy” Mr Vicky exclaimed with a wide smile.

**** THREE YEARS LATER ****
Jemma is seen walking around in the company as she made sure everything was in place for her new VP arrival.
“Miss Jemma, what should I do next?” Ruby asked curiously and Jemma exhaled frustratedly.
