Desmond’s POV
Mrs Martins pulled into their compound and parked her car in the parking lot.
We got down and went inside and as we entered Mr Martins hurriedly came to meet me and i feel sorry for the man, he looked restless.
” thank you so much for coming Mike….. Thank you” he said.
” I’m sorry too for ignoring your calls, I’m really sorry about your daughter as well” I said.
” thank you, thank you ” he said and I sat down on the couch.
” so tell me everything you know ” i said.
” there was an agent I sent to protect her, she has been protecting her ever since she left for Belgium ” he said.
” Just a week ago the agent called me and said Eliza is missing ” he concluded.
” when was the last time you heard from her? ” I asked.
” last month, she called to inform us about her graduation ” he said.
” Graduation?” I asked.
” yes, she’s through with her study and she’s supposed to be graduating this year” Mrs martins answered.
” that’s bad……do you have any idea who could have abducted your daughter?” I asked.
” I don’t think so, if the DIGs are still alive I would’ve said they are behind it but I can’t think of anyone” he said.
” what did your agent over there have to say on this?” I asked.
” she said she doesn’t know how she disappeared, she said she was with her then all of a sudden she couldn’t find her anymore” Mr Martins said.
” have she called all her friends?……what about her boyfriend?” I asked.
” she told us her friends didn’t see her…..and also she told us nothing about boyfriend” he said .
” seems like I’ll have to go over there” I said.
” thank you so much for doing this” Mrs martins said.
” you’re welcome ” I said.
” I have a plane ready to take you…….what else will you be needing?” Mr Martins asked.
” uhmmm, I’ll be needing some things about your daughter” I said.
” things like what?” Mrs martins asked.
” her picture, house address, her school, the agent’s name, phone number and her email address” I said.
” sure, I will write everything down” she said then dash to her room.
” what about ammunition?” Mr Martins asked.
” Nah, I don’t think I will be needing that…….let’s hope we won’t be needing that, but I will be having my dagger with me” I said.
” okay….. If you say so” he said.
” so when am I leaving?” I asked.
” like I said earlier a plane is waiting for you, you can leave now if that’s okay with you” he said.
” alright then” I replied then Mrs martins came back to the parlour and handed to me some of her daughter’s picture and details.
” Good, so shall we?” I said standing up.
” let me drive you to the airport ” Mr Martins said.
” sure” I replied.
” please bring her back safely, please” Mrs martins said.
” I’ll try my best ma’am ” I replied then we went out.
We reached outside and we entered his car while One of the security drove us to the airport.
” do you trust this agent of yours? ” I asked.
” yes, she has been protecting her for the past four years my daughter has went to Belgium, so I guess I trust her” he said.
After some minutes of driving we reached the airport and I and the DIG went into the airport.
He talked to some people and then we went to where the plane is waiting for us.
” thank you for doing this Mike” he said as we got to the plane.
” you’re welcome sir ” I replied.
” Safe journey” he said as i entered the plane.

(7 hours later)
LOCATION : LIEGE, BELGIUM.
TIME : 8:15 PM
The plane arrive at the liege airport in bierset, I got down and made my way out of the airport.
I will have to lodge into a hotel for tonight and by tomorrow I can begin the search.
I walked out of the lobby and went to one of the cab around.
” où allons-nous monsieur?” he said and I recognize the language to be French, and he’s asking where I’m going.
I can speak French though mine can be a little bit rusty, when I was a soldier I spent one year at the border of Cotonou so I was able to grab something.
” emmène-moi dans n’importe quell hôtel ici (take me to any nearby hotel) ” I said.
” d’accord (okay) ” he said then drove off.
After driving for some minutes the car stopped and I looked at him.
” nous sommes ici (we are here) ” he said.
” Merci (thank you)” I said then paid him then got down.
I entered the hotel and request for a room then after paying the receptionist gave me a key and I took the lift to my room and settled down.
I called the reception and requested for dinner and I was told to wait for some minutes.
I used that time to have a quick shower and just as I finished I heard a knock on the door.
I went to the door and took the food from the waiter and I bring it in an started eating.
I bring out my laptop and checked how far the girl’s house is, and I narrow down the location.
I tried to trace the girl’s phone but it was unreachable which means it’s a dead end, I will have to go over to the girls house and see if I can find any clue.
” Ugggh……i keep entering foreign country that I haven’t been before but I never get to admire the beauty of these countries, all in my mind is how to get the mission done”
” yeah, which is how it should be mission before any other things” I finished eating then laid on bed and call it a night.

(Next Day)
I woke up as early as I could and took my things and went out of the hotel room, I checked out and went out of the lobby.
As I went out of the hotel I waved down a cab and show him the address of the girl’s house and he drove off.
About 30mins later the driver pulled right in front of the house and I paid him then alighted from the cab.
The house is about 20 storey building and according to what Mrs martins wrote in the paper in my hand, it says room 9D.
I entered the building and entered the elevator and press button that says 9 and the door closed, not very long after the elevator dings and came out.
I checked the number on door till I get to 9D and then I tried to open the door but couldn’t as it was locked.
I looked sideways then kick the door open then I entered the room, I looked all over as there was no one present.
I checked the pictures on the table which confirms that I’m in the right place, I check one of the rooms and the bed is neatly spread.
I saw her picture all over the room Which means it’s either someone came here after she was kidnapped or she wasn’t abducted in this place probably somewhere else.
I was about to check the next room the I noticed someone behind me.
” stay right where you are or I’ll blow your brains off” I heard the voice of a lady.
” calm down” I said still backing her.
” SHUT UP, stand up slowly with your hands behind your head ” she said and I did as she said.
” I’m not a threat lady” I said.
” if you dare say another word I will shoot you ” she said placing the gun behind my head.
” you’re too close ” I said.
” whaaaat” she said then I turned swiftly and grabbed her hand then kick the gun away from her.
She made to punch me and I grabbed her hand and turned her over and push her away.
She charged at me and I punched her hard on the face then attacks again and we started fighting.
when I saw an opportunity I grabbed her neck and give her a Slammed her to the ground.
I reached for my dagger and pulled it out then made to stab her.
” WHERE IS THE GIRL? ” I shouted raising the dagger.
” I should be the one asking you that ” she said.
” don’t play games with me lady, tell me where the girl is or I’ll gouge out your eyes” I said.
” I swear I don’t know…….I’m looking for her as well” she said.
” who are you?” I asked.
” I’m her bodyguard” she said and I realised she’s the agent Mr Martins talked about.
” you are the agent ” I said releasing my hand on her neck.
” yeah……I’m agent scarlet ” she said.
” I’m agent blackbird and I was sent to look for the girl” I said.
” you look familiar……..You’re MIA” she said.
” You know me, I’m quite surprised that you know me” I said.
” Elizabeth and her sister Lara talked about you when they came to visit last time” she said.
” I see then why did you attack me” I asked.
” the last news I heard about you was that you died, which made me attack ” she said.
” well a dead man can’t stand before you, can he? ” I said.
” I guess not” she said.
” you messed up big time, agent scarlet…….you’re given a task, which is to protect her from something like this and you fail” I said.
” I know, which is why I never stay home……..ever since the incident I’ve been searching for her everywhere ” she said.
” have you informed the police? ” I asked.
” yes, that was the first thing I did ” she replied.
” who do you think could be behind this?…….who do you suspect?……did she have any enemies?…..did she fight with anyone?” I asked.
” No one, I checked in with all her friends no one knows her whereabouts ” she said.
” when was the last time you saw her?……how did you part with her?” I asked.
” they just finished with their examination and she was partying with her friends then she told me she needs to buy something across the street” she said.
” and you let her go alone? ” I said.
” No, I tried to follow her and she told me she’s just going to grab something and be back immediately,….i didn’t know something like this will happen ” she said.
” and are you sure she didn’t ran off with her boyfriend?” I asked.
” No, she didn’t have a boyfriend but she does have male friends and I was with them all that time” she said.
” This is complicated……Now we have no Lead” I said.
” Take me to the police station ” I said.
” okay…… Let’s go” she said and we left the room.
We reached downstairs and she entered a car and I followed suit then she drove off.
After driving for a while she stopped at the police station and we entered straight in and she lead me to one of the officers.
” Bonjour officier (Good morning officer) ” she said to the officer.
” Bonjour, que puis-je faire pour vous? (what can I do for you?)” the officer asked.
” officer, you remember me….. have you found her?” she asked.
” pad manquer (No miss)………i told you we will inform you if we find anything ” The officer said.
” it’s been one week and you haven’t find anything……..I’m growing impatient ” she said.
” nous La retrouverons Manquer (we will find her Miss) ” the officer said.
” Has anyone else report for a missing person?” I asked.
” people always report for a missing person” he said.
” do you find out why these people were missing?” I asked.
” We have no clue but we are still working on it” the officer said.
” this is bad, let’s go” I said then we left the police station.
” take me to where you partied ” I said immediately we got inside the car.
” Okay” she said then drove off.
About thirty-five minutes later we got to the club and we got down, I looked around the place but I couldn’t find any CCTV cameras, we entered the club and requested for the CCTV footage.
The operator showed us the feed from that night and it was just as the agent explained, she indeed left the club but no camera on the street.
All the camera in the club didn’t show how she got missing and the biggest question is where is she, what happened to her.
Since we don’t have any clue as to where she went we started asking people around if they saw her that night.
we spent two more hours searching around with hope that someone must’ve seen her but we got no luck.
I got tired then I bought a burger to eat before I could continue, we sat on a bench as we munch the food then an old woman came to us.
” pouvez-vous s’il vous plait en acheter un pour moi” the old woman said and I tried to understand what she meant.
” she said we should buy her one of these” agent scarlet interpreted then gave her some money and the woman thanked her.
” Merci beaucoup ” the woman said then turned to leave.
” wait….uhmm…..have you seen this lady anywhere around here?” I asked the woman and she stopped and looked into the picture.
“Non…… Vous La cherchez?” the woman said.
” yes…. Yes….. We are looking for her” scarlet said.
” je ne l’ai pas vue ( I haven’t seen her) ” the woman said.
” ils ont dû recommencer ” the woman said and I don’t understand.
” de qui…….de qui parlez-vous? (who……who are you talking about?” agent scarlet asked .
” what did she say? ” I asked.
” she said they must have started again” she said.
” who is she talking about? ……what does that mean?” I asked.
” De qui madame( who madam?)” she asked.
” ils doivent avoir commencé l’esclave commercial (they must have started the slave trade) ” she said and I got surprised.
” Slave trade?” we both asked in unison.
” what did you know about this slave trade? ” I asked.
” ils ont kidnappé des jeunes filles et les ont vendues aux riches, certaines à la pro$titution (they kidnapped young girl and sold them to the rich, some of them to pro$titution)” the woman said.
” OhMyGod ” agent scarlet exclaimed.
” How did you know about all of this? ” I asked.
” parce que quelque chose comme ça m’est arrivé il ya très longtemps avant de m’échapper (because something like that happened to me too a long time ago before I escaped) ” she said.
” where did they take them? ” I asked.
” Rome” she said.
” Rome? ” agent scarlet and I said in unison.
” where in Rome?…….we can’t search the entire Rome……give us a lead” I said.
” la traite des esclaves est partout en italie (The slave trade is everywhere in all of Italy)”
” depuis que la fille est kidnappée ici, le seul endroit où je peux vous indiquer est le marché des Trajan’s (since this is the place the girl was kidnapped, then the only place I can point you is the Trajan’s market” the woman said.
” thank you” I said.
” la fille est chanceuse parce que personne n’est venu pour moi, c’est pourquoi je me suis retrouvé ici (the girl is lucky cause no one came for me which Is why I ended up here)” the woman said then left.
” this is very Bad” I said.
” what do we do now?, we have to go find her ” agent scarlet said.
” let me call the DIG” I said bringing out my phone then I dialled the DIGs number which he picked immediately.
” MIA” he said.
” Hello sir” I said.
” Any Good news?” he asked.
” I’m afraid not Sir, but I think we have a lead” I said.
” What did you find?” he asked.
” you might want to calm down when you hear this and you should probably keep this from your wife” I said.
” what happened Mike?…….please don’t tell me something bad happened to my daughter ” he said.
” The thing is your daughter has been abducted by some men and she has been taken to another country” I said.
” whaat, by who?…..who are these people?……where?” he shouted.
” uhmmm Italy” I said.
” whaaat…..wh…why?…..what did they want from her?” he asked.
” we will figure this out” I said.
” what do we do now?” he asked.
” I guess I have to go to Rome cause that’s where she might be” I said.
” Oh God……. please bring her back to me Mike, please ” he said.
” I will try my best Sir……bye for now” I said then ended the call.
” so we are going to Rome” agent scarlet said.
” No, I am going to Rome, you will stay here or you can go back to Nigeria ” I said.
” No I have to go…..she’s my responsibility ” she said.
” sorry to disappoint you girl, I work alone” I said.
” I don’t trust anyone and definitely not you ” I added.
” I’m coming……i have to make up for my carelessness ” she said.
” Fine, but just so you know don’t even thing of double crossing me” I said.
” If you had heard about me you will know better than to double crosses me cause I’ll make sure you suffer before you die even the dev1l won’t recognize you in hell ” I warned sternly.
” I won’t….. I promise ” she said.
” Congratulations, We are going to ROME”.
