A MONTH LATER

The weather looks good today and my life has been the same, boring. Although, Tonia has changed, she acts very nice to me, she isn’t the old Tonia I used to know.
Mom’s still around, always making sure she provides everything I needed even if I don’t want ’em. Obviously, she wants me to forget about the miscarriage I had, she just wanna make me happy.
Scott…..well, what can i say?. He is still the same, cold and heartless. He hasn’t changed a bit and I don’t think he will, it’s annoying tho, really.
Hopefully, three months has passed and three to go!.. And I really can’t wait for the end of the agreement we made.
I felt bored of staying in the room so I decided to head to the living room and plus, I felt famished.
Immediately I stepped out, I accidentally bumped into him.
“Hey, don’t you see?!” I said to him even if I knew I was at fault.
He stared at me with his hands dipped in his pants, he looked pissed and I like it!.
“You must be blind.” He stated coldly as he turned to walk out on me but I was fast to stay in front of him, preventing him from taking such action.
“You can’t talk to me in that manner!.” I frowned with my arms crossed.
“You’ve gat to be kidding me.” He scoffed angrily, you know….I just love the fact I keep making him annoyed lately.
“What rights do you have anyways.” I rolled my eyes.
He moved close to me and leaned forward his head. Even though my heart skipped immediately he did that, I still appeared bold in front of him.
“I don’t know how you suddenly change…but what I do know is that I don’t give two fks about it.” He whispered, his face is very close to mine.
I smirked, “Oh really?.”
“I’ve seen you’ve grown wings but trust me bch, i’ll break ’em for ya.” He tersely voiced out.
I faked a smile when I caught a glimpse of her behind him from afar.
We’re close but i drew him more closer to me and wrapped my hands around his neck, his eyes….he looked surprised and that didn’t stop me.
“What the he…” He was about to say something but I shut him up with a kss. He didn’t reciprocate, I guess he must be very shocked.
“Sorry to interrupt…..” We heard as I broke the kss. We turned our gaze and it’s mom with a huge grin on her lips.
“Uhm…it’s fine mom.” I said with a smile, I tried to look startled even though I knew she had been staring at us ever since Scott took a step close to me.
“M..mom.” Scott stuttered, i noticed how he became flushed on seeing mother, grinning hard at us.
“Anyways…” She chuckled, “I wanted to ask if Riley would like to go shopping with me.” She smiled.
“Sure mom, I would love to!.” I exclaimed.
“Alright, i’ll give you guys some time alone cause it seemed you were busy. Join me when you’re done Riley.” She said, taking her leave.
“Okay.” I nodded with a fake smile.
As soon as she left, I turned to face him. He threw me a deadly glare as he wiped his mouth in an irritated manner.
“Let this be the last time you try a sht like that!.” He warned pointing a finger at me.
I shrugged. “I just saved your ass.”

We settled on different couches, playing a mortal combat game. Sometimes, i spend most of my time in games so I had to ask him to come over and he agreed.
I sighed tiredly when I got defeated by him, again. He chuckled, spreading his arms apart. “See…! You are no match for me!.” He exclaimed.
“Gosh….I almost won tho!.” I complained.
“But that was a nice battle anyways.” He mocked.
I stood up as he smirked. “Where are you going to?, I was kidding.”
“To grab some snacks, I’ve used all my strength bro. Would you want some?.” I asked.
“Yeah sure.”
“Give me a sec then.” I said, heading to the kitchen.
I came back with two packs of chips with soda drinks. I handed his own to him and sat down. “Thanks for coming bro.” I said, munching on my chips.
“You’ve already said that.” He chuckled.
“Well….yeah.”
“So uhm how is life?.” He asked.
“Hmm, still the same bro. Boring…” I smiled.
“You haven’t moved on yet?. Are you fking kidding me?.”
“Nope.”
“There are lots of hot ¢hicks out there that needs your attention, stop being a boring freak, dude. You should forget about Melissa, she’s probably enjoying her life wherever she is, trust me bro.”
“Jacob, I can’t seem to erase her from my head.” I sighed.
“Well…am sorry but, if she does love you, she would have come back to you.”
My heart skipped, my mind flashed back to that strange woman I saw at the restaurant. She…..she looked so much like Lisa…..but could she be the one…?. Was I just imagining things…?.
“Bro, you okay?.” Jay suddenly asked.
“Huh..?.”
“You seem lost in thoughts.” He said.
“Uhm…”
“Is there anything bugging you?. You can tell me what it is bro.” He muttered softly.
I sighed. “You remember the day you called me to ask if I could join you at the club?.”
“Yeah. You said you were at a restaurant, so? What’s up?.”
“Well….I think I saw her.” I said.
“Who?.” He arched his brow.
“Melissa.” I replied.

“Who?.” I asked, not really interested in this stupid talks.
“Melissa.” I heard, I looked at him feeling shocked, does he know what he is saying?. Or has he gone nut???.
“What, that’s impossible!.” I let out a chuckle.
“Yeah, am serious. She’s still the same, just that she has a short hair now. But…within the twinkle of an eye, she mysteriously disappeared.” He said sadly.
Yeah…I knew it!. This guy has gone nut!. How can he see someone I killed?.. Or is he seeing her ghost??
“You must be hallucinating dude.” I said.
“Maybe I was, am still confused tho. Hold on, what makes you think it’s impossible for her to be Melissa?.” He asked with a straight face.
“Huh?. I…i ..was just surprised. Nothing….else.” I stuttered with a fake grin.
He sighed. “Gosh, I miss her.”
I secretly rolled my eyes, feeling disgusted. Here we go again…..can’t he just forget about that bch?!. She’s definitely in h’ll with the devil so why he just fking move on with his messed up life!.
“Hey, will you come to the club with me tonight?. It’s gonna be lit, you know.” I said.
“Alright, i’ll try.”
“Good.” I smirked.

I and mom walked towards the fancy clothes section. According to her, she said I needed more beautiful dress. I tried to tell her am okay with the ones I have but, she insisted.
“My son is very lucky to have you as his wife, Riley.” She said as she picked a white knee length gown.
“Huh?.”
“Have never seen Scott act the way he did earlier, the way you two kssed was so passionate.” She smiled.
“Passionate?. You think so?.” I almost blurt out but I held myself.
“He really loves you dear, am so happy he found a woman like you.” She touched my cheek.
Love?. Nah….I don’t think so ma’am.
I faked a smile and nodded. “And am also happy to have a wonderful mother in-law like you.”
“Thank you swee….” She got interrupted by a phone call, she stared at the screen and faced me with a sweet smile.
“Sorry dear, I need to take this, continue shopping. I’ll be right back.”
“Okay mom.” I nodded.
She walked to a quiet place and picked the call while i turned to face all the beautiful dresses, gosh it’s really hard to decide on which one to pick…..
“Ma’am..” Someone tapped me on my shoulder, I turned swiftly to see a lady wearing a bright colored hoodie and crazy jeans.
“Uhm yeah?.”
“Can I talk to you please?.” She pleaded.
“Huh….about what?.” I asked confusedly as I stared at her from head to toe, she doesn’t look like someone who works here….
“Can we go to somewhere private?.” She asked, she looked impatient as she kept glancing around.
I glimpsed at mom, she’s still on the phone. I faced her, “Am sorry no.” I frowned.
“Alright then. I want you to listen to me attentively cause Scott’s life would soon be in danger and am sure you’ll also be included.” She said, staring at me seriously.
Danger????. Does she know what she’s saying?.
“Say what now?. What the hell do you mean by that?.” I asked, crossing my arms.
“He’ll make sure he destroys everything Scott has, be careful. I’ll be of help if you need me.” She voiced out.
“Wait….who are you?.” I asked.
She was about to speak when mom called me. “Riley…”
Mom walked towards me with a smile. “Who was that you were talking to?.”
I turned my gaze and she was gone. I faced mom back. “Uhm….”
“What were you guys talking about?. Is there any problem?.” She asked.
“Oh nothing. She was telling me about how lovely the clothes sold here are.” I lied.
“Yeah she’s right.” She smiled. “Anyways, we should check out the jewelries in this place.” She held my wrist.

“Okay mom.” I faked a smile.
She held my wrist as we left, I kept looking back if I could spot that strange lady again. Who is she?. And what does she mean by Scott being in danger?.
