CHAPTER 24
“Mum,” Evelyn called happily as they walked into her ward, making the woman turn to look at her, and she smiled immediately upon seeing Evelyn.
She was overjoyed to see her daughter.
“My princess,” she called, and they engaged in a tight hug.
He stepped inside the ward gently, observing the happy daughter and mother embracing each other, and he couldn’t help but smile.
He loved seeing Evelyn happy, but she just didn’t understand him.
She didn’t know how he did things, how he behaved, what he liked, and what he didn’t dislike.
The woman turned to look at Martin standing at the door, and her eyes widened in shock before separating from the hug.
“Martin?” she called in surprise, and Martin smiled politely.
“Oh my God! Come here, son,” she said, smiling and opening her arms widely, and Martin didn’t waste time in hugging her.
She stood up from the bed, allowing the two to hug each other, and she couldn’t help but smile.
She really liked the picture she was seeing right now.
“Oh, Martin,” she kissed his forehead while Evelyn scoffed.
While they were dating, her mother and Martin were so close.
When Evelyn introduced him to her, she liked him at first sight and always wished they could get married.
“What are you doing here?” she asked as they separated from the hug, and Martin just smiled.
“I came to see my mother-in-law,” he said, and they both laughed while Evelyn scoffed before coming to sit beside her mother.
She was kind of jealous seeing the way Martin was laughing with her mother.
“Mom, have you been fine?” Evelyn asked with concern, just like any daughter would.
“Well, I am fine, and I am more than fine seeing Martin here,” her mother said sincerely, and Evelyn huffed, glaring at Martin, who couldn’t stop smirking.
“Don’t worry, Mum, you are going to be fine soon, and you are going to get the h’ll out of here,” Evelyn said, and her mother just smiled.
“How? I mean, not without the money.”
“I’ve already paid,” Martin said, and her mother gasped.
“Awwn, sweetie, thank you,” she said, and they both hugged each other again while Evelyn just scoffed.
“Where is Ava?” she asked, and Evelyn chuckled.
“She is fine, and trust me, she is going to be angry when she finds out I came here alone,” Evelyn said, and her mother chuckled.
“Are you back with him?” Evelyn’s mother said, and Evelyn rolled her eyes.
She knew her mother was going to ask sooner or later.
“No, Mum, I am working for him,” Evelyn said, and her mother frowned.
“Why can’t you guys just start dating already? I mean, I know you still like each other.”
“Really, Mum? Aren’t you supposed to be angry about why he is here in the first place?” Evelyn yelled angrily, leaving the two in shock.
“Oh, shoot… I am sorry, Mum,” Evelyn said while her mum scoffed, turning to look at Martin.
“Do you want to be with my daughter again?” she asked, and Martin smirked.
“Of course, Mum, but she wouldn’t give me a chance,” Martin said, pretending to be sad, and her mum sighed, turning to look at Evelyn.
“Just forgive him, princess. I don’t know whatever he did, but just forgive and be a couple once again,” her mother said, and Evelyn scoffed.
She glared angrily at Martin before walking out of the ward, ignoring her mother’s calling.
She sat on the chair in the hospital corridor, sipping her Coke.
They had been in the hospital for two hours already, but she had just come out of the ward because she didn’t want to listen to her mother telling her about being together with Martin.
