CHAPTER 27
“She’s being stubborn. She says I’m too overprotective, possessive, and jealous, and she doesn’t like it,” Martin said, sitting beside Cole, who chuckled.
“That’s quite surprising. Most guys like that kind of man.”
“Are you, by any chance, too harsh with her?” Cole asked, and Martin sighed before nodding.
“Geez, man, I knew it. You need to work on yourself. Try to be gentle with her. No girl wishes for a guy who is harsh toward her,” Cole advised.
“But sometimes, I am only harsh towards her when she does something that annoys me,” Martin admitted, scratching his head nervously as Cole asked,
“Like what?”
“Like being with another man,” he replied, and Cole burst into laughter.
“Oh, I can see you’re the jealous type. Come on, man, you can’t stop her from being with someone else just because she’s dating you. I know you, Martin, better than anyone else.
You’re a jealous freak, an overprotective guy, but seriously, if you go overboard, you’re going to make the girl feel uncomfortable,” Cole said, and Martin sighed.
“Come on, man, try to be gentle with her, and I’m sure she’ll accept you back in no time,” Cole advised, and Martin nodded.
“How about college?” Martin asked.
“College is great,” Cole replied.
“Has Charlotte been with any boys lately?” Martin inquired, and Cole chuckled.
Charlotte and Cole attended the same college, with Cole acting as her guardian.
“Trust me, I’ve dealt with them,” Cole reassured, and they both burst into laughter.

(The next day)
“Druahhhhhh!” The alarm clock rang, waking Evelyn up from her sleep.
“Ava, sweetie, time to get up,” Evelyn said, turning to look at the side, but it was empty.
“Ava, princess,” she called, but there was no reply. She quickly put on her slippers and walked out of the room.
She reached the living room only to find the young girl talking to a man.
“Martin?” she called, surprised, and he looked at her with a smile on his face.
“He said he was your boss, so I opened the door for him,” Ava said, smiling, and Evelyn scoffed.
“You don’t just open the door for people you don’t know just because they claim to know me,” she scolded, and Ava sighed.
“Now go get ready for school,” Evelyn instructed, and the young girl waved at Martin before walking away.
“Martin, why are you here?” she asked, but he didn’t reply and continued to stare at her.
His eyes roamed her body, lingering on her while he bit his lips.
She was still in her night clothes, consisting of a pair of shorts and a slim-fitting top that revealed her cIeavage.
“What the h’ll are you staring at?” Evelyn yelled, and Martin simply rolled his eyes.
“Why are you here anyway?” Evelyn asked.
“I told you I was going to pick you up today,” Martin replied, and Evelyn scoffed.
“And why are you here so early?” Evelyn asked, somewhat surprised.
She was certain he was already here before she even woke up.
“Because I don’t want Haris to get here before me,” he explained.
