Mariel’s POV
“What does she want from us?” I asked my aunt after calming her down and giving her a hand towel to wipe her tears and nose.
“She.. she wants you back Mariel, she wants you to go with her to California” my auny said and sniffed.
“What the hell does she think she is, does she think she can just disappear and appear whenever she likes. How dare her” i yelled angrily.
“She’s still your mother Mariel no matter what happens” aunt said.
“Fvck motherhood aunt, that woman is a big disgrace to motherhood” i said.
“I’m scared Mariel, I’m scared that you’ll leave me soon. I know she’s your mother and I’m being selfish but I’m really fond of you Mariel and the thought of losing you scares me a lot” she said and held my hands.
“Please don’t leave me Mariel, at least not now. I already take you as a daughter, please promise me you’ll always visit me when you leave with your mom” she said and i hugged her.
“Stop saying rubbish aunt, i will never leave you. You’re the only woman i know as my mother. The only woman that cares for me and give me a reason to live, how could you ever think I’ll leave you alone” i said as i hugged my aunt and let her cry slowly on my shoulders..
How could i ever leave this woman, this woman that care for me, the woman i’ve grown to love and respect so much.
I can never ever leave her, she’ll remain the mom i know, i don’t know anyone else as my mother.
I kissed my aunt cheeks and fore head, i made her walk to her bed and tuck her in.
I stayed with her till she was fast asleep, i switched off the lights and closed the door behind me as i went to my room.
Once i sat on my bed, i let my tears fall rapidly.
I’ve never seen a woman that’ll abandon her daughter without caring if she dies or live and after 10 years she appears and start demanding of the daughter she don’t even know if she’s alive or not.
She’s just a psycho freak if she thinks I’ll ever go back with her.
She’s my mother i know but I’ll make her regret leaving me.
I’ll make her pay for everything.
I hugged my pillow tightly and cried on it for a while.
My phone started ringing so i dropped my pillow and picked it.
It was Vanessa, i cleared my throat and dried my eyes.
I picked the call.
“Hey Nessa, Hawie you?” I asked trying to stable my shaking voice.
“Oh Mariel, I’m very fine and you” she asked.
“I’m.. I’m.. umm.. good, yeah good” i said, clearing my voice.
“What’s wrong Mar.. why is your voice shaking?” She asked concerned.
“Umm.. nothing, i kinda ate something choky” i said and she chuckled.
“I called to tell you that I’ve put to bed, it’s a beautiful girl” she said and i gasped.
“Wow Nessa that’s great news, congratulations dear, I’m sure Nathan will be happy” i said.
“He sure is, he won’t let the baby go and he’s been kissing her happily. Seriously Mariel I’m so happy and I’m beginning to love Nathan” she said and i smile.
“That’s really good Nessa i wish you the best” i said.
“I think its high time you grab yourself a guy Mariel” Nessa said.
“Nessa I’m still waiting for Mr right” i said.
“Mr right is everywhere Mariel, just give yourself a chance to love” she said.
“Yeah, i get it Nessa” i said.
“I’ll talk to you tomorrow Mariel, mom just got here” she said.
“Ok, give little angel a big kiss for me” i said as we both hanged up.
