CHEATED : EPISODE 1 – 20
EPISODE 8
“Kingsley my son…..” Kingsley heard someone call faintly from behind.
“Mama…. Wait, I slept off?”
“Yes my dear, you did. I guess the drama was just too much for you to comprehend.”
“I really wish it was a drama Mama; unfortunately it’s real and the story of my life.” He said as Mama sighed.
“I understand how you feel my son; even I myself couldn’t believe my ears. I can’t believe my own husband who I’ve been married to for more than 30years kept this huge secret away from me.” She said as she was about breaking down but comported herself.
“I’m so sorry Mama. Don’t worry, everything will be fine soon.” He consoled.
“The whole place is dark already, what time is it?” He asked after a brief moment of silence.
“Half past 8.”
“Wow….I really slept.”
“Yes, and your siblings are asleep already. I’ll go prepare your food so you can……” Mama said, about to stand up but K withheld her.
“No don’t bother Mama,I’m not hungry”
“Hmmm…. I understand. Okay then, let me leave you to yourself for sometime.” She said as she left his room.
CHEATED : EPISODE 1 – 20
An hour later.
“Who’s there?” Kingsley asked with a raised voice on his knees, in response to a knock on his door.
“It’s me your father…..” Papa replied from behind in a nervous voice as he rushed to open the door for his father.
“Papa good evening Sir.” He greeted with respect as his dazed father just stared on.
“I thought you’d be annoyed with me, my son.” He said casually and sat on the chair he had offered him.
“I’m still I’m to respect you, Sir. The Christainity I practice isn’t just for the fun of it.” He responded in smiles as Papa nodded.
“I see.” He said.
“Son, I’m so sorry for not telling you about your true identity for decades now, I didn’t……”
“It’s okay Papa, it’s fine. Before you knocked, I was praying and God told me things will eventually turn out well and I shouldn’t be angry with you, but with the enemy who had all these planned to frustrate my life.” He said as Papa sighed and shook his head.
“Kingsley, I came here to reveal something else to you; infact, this may be the reason behind your kind of life.” He said as K repositioned himself to listen carefully.
“You know Mazi Mbakwe?”
“The most powerful and sought after native doctor of our town?” Kingsley said as Papa nodded in positive.
“Yes my son. After the whole incident, I suggested we took you to him to know what the future holds, but Teresa my wife bluntly refused, saying she was a Christian and doing that was d’monic. I argued with her alot because it was the tradition of our people to find out what the future holds for a child whenever he is born, so as to know where to protect him.
When she refused to see reasons with me, I took you myself while she was away.”
FLASHBACK
“Ezemmuo, I want to know what the future holds for my son.” Mr. Nwankwo said as Mazi Mbakwe made some incantations, danced around and threw somethings on the floor.
“Hmmm! Mazi Nwankwo, what I’ve seen here now isn’t very favourable to you.”
“What is it Ezemmuo?”
“The child in your arms will be very successful, his glory is extraordinary, but the kind of glory he’s carrying can’t be contained in our country, not to talk of town.
He’d have to go abroad to fulfill his destiny; that wouldn’t be hard for him because of the glory I’ve seen on his head.
In all, he won’t stay in our land when he grows.”
“Chai Mbanu (no nw), I don’t want that Ezemmuo. He’s my only child and I’m not sure if having another through my wife. I also do not plan on having a child with another woman because I love Theresa my wife do much.
Now he won’t stay here with his parents when he grows, who would take care of us when we’re old?” Mr. Nwankwo explained and thought of what to do. After few minutes of silence, an idea struck his mind.
“Ehmmm, Ezemmuo you know what? Is it possible for him to fulfill his destiny here?” He asked as he gave a mischievous smile.
“Of course, he could be tied down here. It won’t affect him much, just that his glory and destiny would be programmed to succeed here.”
“Very good. I think that’d be better.”
FLASHBACK ENDED
“Blood of Jesus! Papa!!!” Kingsley shouted but he motioned on him to keep it low as it was late already.
“I was then asked to bring your a part of your hair, the first cloth you wore as you arrived this world, and your first bathing water to perform rituals for you and tie you down here. He then took us to a river and threw the materials I brought there and thereafter washed your head and said, “it is done”.”
“Hmmm! Papa you’ve finished me. No wonder! Ehe nw, why won’t I live a meaningless life when my foundation has been destroyed?? Chai Chineke. No wonder that voice said ‘don’t you know your foundation is destroyed.
Father Lord, help my soul! How do I go from here?” Kingsley kept lamenting and thinking aloud.
“That’s not all.” Papa said as K stared at him.
“That’s not all??? It is finished. Chai, ike gwuru.” He said as he motioned on him to speak on.
“Twenty five years later, when I saw things were not going well with you, I decided to go back to him to confront him. It was then I received the shock of my life.”
FLASHBACK
“Mazi Mbakwe you’re a liar!” Mr. Nwankwo said as soon as he sighted him in the shrine.
“What? Who dares come to my shrine and accuse me, calling me by my name?”
“Mazi Mbakwe, you lied to me!! How come you told me the future of the child I brought here 25 years ago is bright, yet he’s living in abject poverty?” He asked in anger as Mazi Mbakwe laughed mockingly.
“What’s funny?”
“Nwankwo you are a fool. You’re not wise at all. I took his glory nw, I transferred it to my son Frank.”
“What? But that wasn’t our agreement.”
“How is he faring?”
“Badly; he’s fairing badly and I honestly feel guilty of his predicament. You lied to me! You betrayed me Ezemmuo!” He said as Mazi Mbakwe smirked.
” Is it a new thing?” He asked and gave ad evil laugh before speaking further.
“I had your permission before doing anything on your son so I didn’t completely betray you, I only did what you asked me to.”
“What exactly did you do to my son?”
“Like I said, I did as you requested. Just that I added somethings.”
“Somethings like what?”
“Like transferring his glory to my son.”
“You did what? But I never asked you to do that!!!!! Mazi Mbakwe, you are wicked!!!.”
“Don’t come to my shrine to yell at me, you inexperienced mortal! You were the stupid one in the first place not to guide and protect a child with such glorious destiny.”
“Now you’re blaming me for patronising your services? You’d definitely pay for this! I’d get the glory of my son back, I promise you.” He said as Mazi Mbakwe laughed mockingly.
“Everyone in this town knows I’m the most powerful native doctor of our time. The glory of your son is permanently in the custody of my son who is very popular as a result of the transfer, and there’s nothing you can do about it as it can never be returned.
If at all you get someone more powerful than I am, getting his glory out of my grip will be such a hard task for your son that’d he’d be discouraged, give up and accept his unfortunate fate.” He said, smirking at intervals as Mr. Nwankwo went home in great disappointment.
FLASHBACK ENDED
“Jesus Christ!!! Papa so Frank Mbakwe, the most popular politician in town and abroad, is using my glory to shine? Father Lord, this is too much for one person.” Kingsley said as he crashed on his bed.
“My son, I told you because I don’t want you to be discouraged. From the look of things, discouragement is what Mazi Mbakwe wants to use against you, to accept your fate.
This is not your fate- you have a very bright future but unfortunately I manipulated it in my ignorance and I’m sorry. But please, do not give up.” Papa enough as Kingsley sighed and nodded.
“I won’t give up Sir.”
“Thank you very much, my son. Let me leave you now; please pray concerning all I’ve told you.
If God could give you a glimpse to your deliverance, He’d give you the solution as well and deliver you from the mistakes of your father.
Please don’t give up my son..” were his last words before he left his room.
Kingsley after closing and locking his door, crashed on his bed to think a little about the new information.
“I don’t even know what to say sef. So someone’s glory can be transferred to, and used by another person? Chai, ignorance is a terrible disease o.
Because of the mistakes of my parents, I’m suffering what I’m not supposed to suffer.
Hmm….God help my life.” He thought to himself as he made jottings of his new discovery about himself, concluding in his heart to pray concerning them.
