“What just happened?” He gasped as he wondered how the new rope cut as soon as he shifted the chair and was about to get strangled.
“No problem; if you like keep cutting, but I’m determined to end my life.” He said and tried again but the same incident repeated itself.
This time, he became more afraid.
“Oh c’mon, stop cutting!!!” Kingsley almost shouted, gnashing his teeth in frustration.
“What do you think you’re doing?
Do you realize what costly mistake you’re about to make???
Does the bottomless pit not seem real to you anymore??” He heard a voice say, but one thing was for sure; it wasn’t in his head, it sounded more like the voice was in his room but he didn’t know the exact direction it was coming from.
“What’s the need to live when I’m useless to myself, my family, and the society at large?!
My life is useless here! Of what use is a life that’s useless to the society and a burden to loved ones???
I’m not living, I just exist!
I’m the firstborn of my family for crying out loud, but I can’t even feed myself talk less of my siblings who are still in school.
I’ve failed God; I’ve failed my society and family and it’s already become a shame to go greet my loved ones. My own family!
So tell me, why wouldn’t I make this decision?” He responded in frustration, altought not knowing where the courage to do that came from as he was scared.
“Stop cutting!!!” He shouted in anger as the rope cut the fifth time.
“The firstborns are the excellency of dignity of their family, the excellency of power, but none of these can be seen in my life.
God has failed me!!!
God has cheated me!!!
I’ve been cheated!!!” He wailed as hot tears flowed down his cheeks. At this point, the voice responded and it’s tempo increased greatly in wrath.
“You dare blame the Lord for your lack of knowledge??!!
You dare point accusing fingers at the Lord of Hosts when you have the form of godliness but deny the power thereof???
You dare accuse Him of your ignorance in using the weapons he has handed over to you ever since His only begotten son paid the price?!!
Don’t you know your foundation is destroyed?!!
Have is it not been written that if the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do???!!!
Indeed you have blasphemed against the Lord and you shall be punished for this.” The voice thundered and he was immedaitely struck with a serious migraine.
“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Almighty.” A still small voice said within.
With this experience, he came to realize how wrong he has been all these while.
“The fault has always been mine. It never crossed my mind to ask God about the root of his problems; all I do instead is lament and wallow in self-pity.
There sure would’ve been a reason for passing through all I passed through.
Oh Lord, why didn’t I think of things this way earlier?” He reasoned within as he immediately went on his knees in prayers.
“I’m so sorry Lord, please have mercy on me.” He prayed in godly sorrow which led to his repentance.
Though suffering from an exceedingly painful migraine, his appetite for food or sleep was gone as he embarked on a serious discovery fasting and prayers for seven days.
Of a truth it wasn’t easy for him, as it was his first time going without food and water for that long, but his determined and faith were rugged enough to see him through.
“Father you haven’t said anything for the past one week I’ve been seeking your face. Please do not hide your face from my creation, my maker.
I admit I have been very foolish all these while, even to the point of challenging and talking back at you.
Lord, I am so sorry and I plead the blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of my sins.
Please hear the words of your servant and in your infinite mercy reveal to me the secret of my life and the root of my problems.” He prayed with all sincerity in his heart in the midnight hour of his seventh day fast.
Being so tired, he drifted to sleep.
