CHAPTER 55
“Welcome home Eli” Weston said with a smile and Eli bowed to him respectfully.
“Thank you Mr Weston. I was able to make it back sooner than I expected all thanks to you” Eli said softly.
“What do you mean Eli?” Jemma asked curiously.
“Mr Weston visited grandpa’s in Los Angeles so that’s how we met. I met with him months ago”
“Is that so? How come you didn’t tell me about it?” Jemma whispered to Weston and he smiled.
“I planned on but I guess it slipped my mind since it was a business trip. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you”
Ruby had a glimpse at Eli but they had an eye lock since Eli was staring at her as well.
“Come on in, the food is getting cold let’s eat” Eli announced and everyone head to the dinning table.
“Why’s Zed not here yet? I’m pretty sure I told him about your arrival” Josie said worriedly as she looked at the door.
“He’s not coming” Eli cut in.
“Why? How did you know that bro?” Josie asked curiously.
“Because he’s not at the country. He flew to Canada a week ago” Ruby answered.
“What! But how come I’m the only one who isn’t aware of that? He didn’t even tell me when we spoke on the phone” Josie pouted.
“I’m pretty sure you didn’t give him the opportunity to tell you, since you’re the bossy lady here.
Anyways don’t think about it, I guess his trip is confidential as well” Eli said with a smile as he ruffled Josie’s hair.
“Let’s eat” Jemma announced as the maids served the dishes.
Ruby stole glances at Eli from her side of the table.
How come I didn’t notice this when we saw earlier? Eli is so handsome.
Something changed about him, he’s more sweet now. Oh no, I guess I would have been sitting next to Eli now if I hadn’t pushed through with Cindy’s plan. Ruby groaned in her head.
“Ruby!” Jemma called out multiple times but Ruby didn’t hear.
“Yes” Ruby answered getting herself together.
“You’re absent minded again. I’ve told you, not to think about work when we’re on the dinning table.
Jemma isn’t even giving you any tough work at the office. What are you so lost in” Weston said sarcastically and everyone laughed.
A message came on Ruby’s phone.
~”Are you trying to make me jealous? Stop making it so obvious that you have a boyfriend now” ~
Ruby read but it’s from an unknown number. She raised her face up looking around the table and she saw Eli wink at her.
Ruby was about to smile but she realized the lie she gave and she looked away quickly her stomach was filled with butterflies as she smiled inwardly.
This is actually a green light from Eli. Does this confirm that he still has feelings for me? Ruby questioned in her head excitedly.
They were done eating, it was time for dessert.
“I have an announcement to make” Weston said and stood up raising his wine glass.
