Ruby’s heartbeat skipped for a bit after reading the text.
“Cindy I’m coming,I will be right back” Ruby said and ran away.
She got to the parking lot and she saw Eli standing in front of his car waiting for her.
Eli smiled on seeing her, Ruby ran to him and gave him a tight hug.
“I’m sorry Eli, I lied. I don’t have a boyfriend” Ruby said sharply as she tried to catch her breath.
Eli smiled and wrapped his arms around her.
“I know” Eli said calmly and Ruby broke the hug.
“You knew?” Ruby asked in surprise.
“Of course, it was so obvious you were lying even a baby could tell you were lying although you tried so hard to stick to your words” Eli teased and Ruby pouted.
“Anyways, thank you for coming to me. I thought I’ve lost you for good but I’m glad you came running to me when I least expected it” Eli said softly as he held Ruby’s hands lightly.
“You’re not upset, I lied to you. You hate it when people lie to you” Ruby said slowly and Eli smirked.
“No I’m not”
“Really?” Ruby asked.
“Of course. I’ve got something for you” Eli said and dipped his hand into his pocket.
Ruby smiled widely.
Oh my goodness, I’m not emotionally ready for this yet. I can’t believe Eli wants to propose to me now. Ruby screamed in her head excitedly.
Eli brought out a diamond ring from his pocket.
“I’m hoping this makes up for the times, I tried running away from what I feel for you” Eli said softly and wore Ruby the ring.
“This is my latest design and I made it specially for you Ruby, you’re my source of inspiration on this ring” Eli added and Ruby smiled widely.
Eli grabbed her into his embrace.
“I love you a lot Ruby. I’m glad I made up my mind on joining you on the twenty first century thing” Eli said softly as he caressed Ruby’s back.
“I love the ring, it’s beautiful. Thank you” Ruby cut in softly as she stared at the ring.
“I don’t wish for us to be like the others, like jumping into marriage after confessing our feelings to each other.
I still want to have some great time with you Ruby and I don’t want to force you into accepting my proposal because we love each other.
I want you to accept it when you’re ready”
“What about this ring? Isn’t it a engagement ring?” Ruby asked and Eli stared at her.
“It’s my commitment to you Ruby, it’s couples ring which has only one pair” Eli said smiling.
“What! Couples ring are meant to be two right”
“Till you find out the secret of this ring will I accept our engagement” Eli said slowly.
“Secret? Eli why are you suddenly sounding so mysterious.
Why do you think I’m not ready to get married yet?” Ruby asked faking a frown.
“That’s why it’s a commitment, let’s find out together in the future” Eli smiled.
“I’m not going anywhere, I’m here with you for good. I pray we get to live the rest of our lives together loving each other till eternity”
“I love you Eli” Ruby said passionately and Eli leaned forward and kssed her passionately as their heartbeat raced.
The diamond ring sparkled on their heartbeat then divided into two halves but Ruby didn’t notice.
That was the secret of the diamond ring.
