Episode 20

” A ladder? How do we do that, and for what reason?” Mr. Douglas questioned, although trying as much as possible to hide his confused expression.

“This question of yours has just shown me there are lots of things you don’t know. The ladder can be created spiritually, with the sole aim of having a crack on our target’s wall of protection so we could move in and bite without much resistance.”

“Hmmmm…..”

“Before we begin anything, we have to see if there’s one in his life, so we might not necessarily have to creat one, we just use the ones existing already..” Baba said as he made some incantations that’d relay the information he needed at that time.

Like an X-ray, Emma’s spirit was examined. As a sensor passed thorough his body, There was a beep around his stomach area.

“I’ve found one. That thing there is a material that belongs to us. So apparently, there’s an enemy within already and all we need to do is cooperate with it to render his prayers ineffective and eventually bring him down.” Baba said after some minutes of meditation.

“Okay. So what do we do with this information now? I mean, what’s the next step to take?”

“We gain access into his life through the ladders already created; that’d distract him into fighting a different battle all together and we can strick without resistance…..” Baba said

*3 Days Later*

“Emma! Guy wake up na, time don reach wey we suppose pray. I go carry you go pastor o.” K said as he kept waking his friend up to no avail.

“Guy haven’t we tried? According to the dream, I dey protected so why you dey hala like this?” He responded as K’s jaw dropped.

“Are you seriously the one saying this???? No be you wey rush to my house dey say u won die, abi you no dey fear death again?” K said, trying to keep it low as it was the wee hours of the day.

After several attempts to wake him for prayers proved abortive, he decided to leave him and observe his personal quiet time.

“You must spend time reading and meditating in the Word yourself in order to let the Holy Spirit instruct you.” He soliloquized, reminding himself of the common words of his favorite pastor.

As he opened his Bible and kept meditating on the word of God, he kept praying and asking the Spirit of God to minister to him.
In a short while, he brought out his pen and jotter and began to write on somethings he didn’t quite understand.

Out of curiosity, he kept searching the scriptures on how to do so and bumped into certain scriptures.

“The Prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.” He kept repeating in his heart.
He had sensed in his heart there was something he needed to know, but couldn’t place his fingers on it yet.

“God, what are you trying to say for the past few days now?”

It was already evening and the two guys were home.
While Emma was freshening up, K noticed a necklace amongst his clothes.

“What’s this?” K thought as he observed quietly.
Some minutes later, Emma was out already in shorts.

“Guy pass that…..I need to wear it.” He said as he beckoned his hand to him.

“I no sabi say you dey wear necklace.” He said as he handed it over to the owner.

“Shey this thing na necklace for your eye? Na chain be this na.” He responded with a laugh.

“You no fi sabi na…..we don live together before? Anyway I bought it not long ago sha, I like to dey hide am for my clothes sha, instead to dey showcase am.”

“It looks quite expensive.”

“Lol….yeah, you can trust me on that.”

“Hmmmmmm…..”

“Frank what is the meaning of this??” Bewildered Mrs. Mbakwe asks, holding a letter of quit notice in her hands.

With shaky hands, Frank snatches what she had in her hands.

“It’s a quit notice you idiot! For goodness’sake, how can you be so incompetent to the extent that you can’t even pay for a two bedroom flat and cater for your family without problems??? What on Earth is wrong with you? Three months ago, you were amongst the wealthiest in the state.

Now you can’t even feed your own immediate family.
We even had to travel out and live in a town strange to us because of the shame you brought upon this family.

I don’t even know what I’m still doing with you.” She said with a long hiss, walking out on him.

“Woman dey talk, I still dey think of how to tell am say we go move to self-contained soon after this one. .” He thought to himself as he held the notice in his hands.

“Kingsley you won’t win this battle, I promise you.”

“Oya it’s an hour to midnight. Let’s wait for time in prayers.” Emma said that same night as K chuckled a bit.

“No be you talk say we don try? Say the dream…..”

“Guy forget that thing jare. I no wan make you disturb my sleep ni, na why I talk so.” He cut in with a laugh as well.

“Okay o….”

“Yeah. No worry, e no go happen again.”

“Alright.”

“Oya let’s pray.”

“Wait! Before we start our prayers, let’s do a little preaching here.” K suggested

“Oshey!! My own personal pastor.” Emma hailed.

“Just listen carefully. It’s something that has been impressed in my spirit for sometime now and it’s important you know about it and act accordingly.” He said as Emma readjusted himself, showing rapt attention.

“Okay Sir. So what’s the topic?”

“Spiritual Ladders.”

“Spiritual Ladders? What does that mean?”

“You’d find out soon.” K said as he readjusted himself and prayed silently for utterance.

“First things first, a ladder is a structure designed for climbing up or down; it’s a means of rising tide a place…..”

“O..kay??”

“Now a ladder….. I mean a spiritual ladder, is a point of contact for the enemy, giving the enemy easy access to the person’s life. It is a landing place for aircrafts of darkness that wants to land in a person’s life.”

“Guy break this thing down.”

“For the enemy to come against you and succeed, there must be a ladder somewhere. Once the ladder is in place, it doesn’t matter who you run to, so far the ladder is still there.”

“Hmmmm…..okay K if I understand what you’re saying perfectly, this battle we are fighting together now, if they don’t succeed in attacking me the way they want, there’d look for an alternative and that’s the ladder you’re talking about.

Am I right?”

“Exactly. You’re getting the point.”

“Okay so this ladder of a thing. It’s spiritual ryt? What are the physical manifestations?”

“Good question! A ladder could be your attitude, the way you behave and take things. If they’re bad, the enemy would exploit it against you.

A ladder could also be one’s thought patterns; if you’re person that always thinks negative things like failure, disappointment, discourage, you’d eventually become one. Even the Bible says ‘as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.'”

“Hmmm…..just by changing the way you think can change the whole of your life forever.” Emma said as he took little notes.

“Exactly. A ladder could also be an act; something you’ve done in the past or something you’re doing now. Many people are passing through alot now because of a mistake or an act they made a long time ago.

Lete summarize at this point.
A ladder could be an inherited trouble, the way one talks, certain food you’re not supposed to eat but ate, a strange relationship with someone, an ornament or habitation, and so on.

One thing I want you to note is this: ladders aren’t the same as weaknesses.
Weaknesses are just raw materials to create a ladder in one’s life.” Kingsley lectured as he paused and checked the time.

“Hmmm……”

“For better understanding, let me site examples with all I’ve mentioned..

Imagine a Christian couple who just moved in to a new apartment.
Despite the fact that they’ve heard strange stories about the place, they ignored everything and decided to make that place their abode.

After two weeks, their first daughter fell terribly sick; their ever brilliant son became as dull as anything, and the head of the family lost his high income job.

Now,why do you think the enemy prevailed so much in this family despite the fact that they’re God-fearing?”

“Hmmm……their was a ladder in their life. Their habitation was the ladder with which the enemy came and fought them.”

“Very good! In that case, they are already the lawful captives mentioned in Isa. 49:24. The secret of a a long-term battle in one’s life is the availability of a ladder.”

“Okay so this ladder is more or less like a right for them ryt?”

“Yes. It’s a welcome party for the enemy to interfere in God’s plan for one’s life. Let’s move on please, time isn’t on our side.

Let me site another example, explaining “weaknesses are raw materials for ladders to be created in one’s life.”

Jack is a person that never jokes with his stomach; infact, one could safely say it was his god. Fasting was a no-go area for him as well. He loved to attend all parties in town, invited or not.

One day, he was invited to a party by some random friend and being the person that he was, he couldn’t miss it for anything.

Soon the party was over and food was shared and everyone dispersed……that was when trouble started for Jack.

From that day onwards, he always slept and found himself at that same party, working like a slave; it was so serious that even when he woke up, he was bathed in his own sweat.
If he wasn’t working in his dream, he was always being pressed down by an invisible force on his bed.

Now tell me what is happening to him.”

“Hmmmm……his gluttony created a ladder for his enemies to come attach him. One’s weakness(es) isn’t a ladder yet until it pushes you to create one.

His weakness of gluttony wasn’t a ladder yet, until he ate that food

One’s weakness of sexual perversion isn’t a ladder yet until he sleeps with a strange woman.

One’s weakness of sleep isn’t a ladder yet until he sleeps off when he’s supposed to be awake, battling with the enemy.

Thus, weaknesses are raw materials for the creation of a ladder in one’s life.” Emma said thoughtfully as K gave a satisfactory smile.

“So glad you understand. Now let’s round up with two more examples.
This one I heard it from my favorite pastor.

Some women were going for a party when unfortunately armed robbers attacked their means of transportation, killing them all. They took the ornaments on their bodies and took it to a different town for sale.

A woman saw the ornaments and loved it, desiring to have one in her possession.
Consequently, she bought one.

Three days after she had that ornament in her possession, her child died and trouble started in her family.

Now examine this example too and tell me what the problem is.”

“The ornament she bought was once the possession of a dead person and that followed the ornament. Thus, the ornament was a ladder to attack her family. Hmmmm……. K this also reminds me of the story of my uncle’s friend who bought a car from a car dealer. It was shocking for us to hear his death after three months of having his long awaited car in his possession.
On research, we discovered it was a stolen car, and the real owner of the car was killed.

Hmmmm…..I now understand.”

“Hmmm….so now you see one’s possession could be a ladder if he/she doesn’t know the source of such good(s).

Let’s go to inherited ladders or ladders that aren’t directly the fault of an individual; I’d give you just one example and we’d begin our prayers.” K said as it was already quarter to midnight.

“A child was given a concoction as a means of protection. That child later grew to know Christ and thereafter became a pastor; the type that moves mountains and preaches powerfully. In no time, his senior pastor transferred him to a village where Christ was forbidden to be heard.

The pastor went there and also made moves.

In no time, the invisible forces I’m charge of the environment had a meeting against him, communicating their bitterness and anger.

They therefore decided to attack him. Being a fireful pastor, they knew it wasn’t going to be easy as the last time they did that, the human agent they used died instantly.

They them decided to X-ray his life, in search for ‘a crack in the wall’. They later found one and rejoiced greatly. A part of them was still in him and they’d join forces with the internal enemy to pull him down- that was their simple plan.

Through the concoction in his body, the reactivated the problem and consequences of dining from the devil’s table and he fell terribly sick.

His sickness weakened his spiritual mind as he was unable to pray or exercise spiritually. As a result, agents who were sent to his church prevailed, causing quarrels, envy, gossip and hatred to be the order of the day. The sick came there as well and didn’t receive their healing.

Of a truth, the sheep has been smitten and the shepherd were eventually scattered. That was the end of his ministry.

Now tell me what the problem was.”

“It’s simple, there had been any unaddressed ladder in his life. Hmmmm…….this is serious.
It’s the same with pastors that have greed, sexual immority, envy etc as their weaknesses right?”

“Of course yes.”

“Hmmm….I understand perfectly now.”

“Very good. So with that we’ve come to the end of our lecture”

“Hmmmm….a lot of people are ready to pray and sweat in prayers because of a problem, but the question should be ‘why and how do they gain entrance to me?’

No wonder the Bible said the devil goes about like a roaring lion, seeking whom to devour. He’s seeking whom to devour because it’s not everyone he can devour, it’s not everyone that has ladders in their lives. Hmmmm….. I understand perfectly now K, thank you for this lecture.

With this, I know I have two ladders in my life already.”

“Oh really? What are they then?”

“Like the pastor, my dad gave me concoction to drink as a child, saying it was for protection. Also, the necklace I wear wasn’t really bought like I said. Dad gave it to me and said no one should know that it was for protection too.”
