Khalid turned slightly to look at Octavia, then turned back to face the judges.
“Really?” He scoffed. “And did you ever stop to wonder what the reason behind her actions was?”
“Whatever the reason, Khalid, it doesn’t matter anymore. She broke a rule and must be punished for it”. Another answered.
“Speaking about rules…” Khalid bent his head and moved a step. “only the current leader can pass a judgement on her”.
Master Klaus stared at him suspiciously.
“If that’s what you want” one of the judges replied and turned to the Next man beside him.
“Get Tha…”
“Thaddeus stopped being the acting leader the moment the elections started. His tenure’s expired already and right now, we don’t have a leader to pass a judgement. So… I’d suggest you move on with the coronation and give us a new leader already” his lips pushed slightly with a smirk.
“I hope you don’t pick offense, Esteemed, but I strongly believe that’s what is written in the rules”.
“How dare you, Khalid?” Klaus suddenly let out a spark.
“How dare you try to defend that lowly bch?”
Khalid clenched his fist, trying so hard to control his anger because he didn’t want anything that’d tamper with the little victory he was about getting on Octavia’s case.
The judges moved closer to each other and whispered amongst themselves. Zack’s eyes were already glinting as something in his guts told him Khalid was on the verge of winning.

Minutes later, the judges finished with their silent discussions and turned around to face Khalid.
“Actually…” The First cleared his throat. “You’re right Khalid, and for that, we’ll…”
“No!” Zack suddenly roared. “He isn’t right and she has to be punished!”
“Yes. But that should be done by the acting Leader”. A judge replied.
“Acting leader or not, it’s unacceptable!” Zack tried making a move, but only ended up limping.
“If someone doesn’t do something right here, right now, I swear, I’m gonna go crazy!” He yelled and a loud silence descended.
Then, Khalid:
“Okay then. I’ll do something” he answered and within the twinkle of an eye, sent an invisible wind that swept Zack off his feet and made him crash hard on the table.

The hall couldn’t contain the total number of people that had wanted to watch the coronation as most of them had to stand outside the hall.
Khalid stood on stage, the ex-leader by his right and the judges in front of him as they read out the rules to him and directed him to take the vows.
Octavia stood on the first row of the crowd, right behind the line where the entire Clan Masters stood.
She was so nervous,so nervous because everything seemed like a dream to her. Her Khalid was almost getting crowned. Her Khalid that had almost died that very morning, he was the same man almost getting crowned.
Tears rested at the brink of her eyes, ready to drop the moment the crown touches his head.
Khalid did as he was told, recited every vow, followed every instructions and finally, it was time for the crown.
“In the presence of the prime Judges” the crown holder began, holding the crown up in his hand.
“The presence of the 8 clan Masters, the clan members and the book of Law, And with the winner of the 9th Leadership Elections agreeing to abide by the rules and regulations, be a fair and adjust leader, I hereby crown Master Khalid, leader of the X-family”.
And as the crown rose to his head, so did a clapping Ovation, accompanied with some cheers.
Octavia gasped and covered her mouth with her palms as the tear she’d been holding finally came rolling down.
It happened!
She smiled and watched ruefully and when the crown was done resting on his head, Master Khalid turned to face his new followers.
He gave a slight bow to them and after that, the next person his eyes searched for was Octavia.
He beckoned on her to come closer, but she refused and surprisingly, he went towards her and pulled her in a hug.
Surprise filled the entire hall as majority of the members had no idea something was going on between Khalid and Octavia.
The ovation increased as majority of the members from the Khalid clan celebrated their Master’s victory. It was joyous and a set of people that had planned a little entertainment turned on some music immediately.
“This is all because of you, Octavia” Khalid spoke whisperingly, still in the hug.
“All of these happened only because of you”.
Octavia wept more and after which, he unlocked and locked his lips on hers.

“Master Khalid” the guards at the door bowed when he approached them.
Khalid only nodded once, his eyes giving the command and immediately, the guards opened the door for him and he walked in.
Zack was smoking angrily on the couch when he heard the door open, but didn’t bother to have a look because he thought it was a guard.
But when the steps sounded slow, he quickly turned because he knew his guard wouldn’t walk that way.
Khalid? He arched his brows when he saw the familiar face in front of him.
What the heck was he doing there?.
He dropped the tobacco pipe he was holding and stood up immediately.
“Khalid! What’re you…”
“MASTER… Khalid”. Khalid cut in, correctibly, making Zack’s eyes dim.
Khalid’s hands were crossed behind his back and with his head slightly bent, he walked towards Zack.
“I’m not here to talk much, Zack” he began. “But only here to say a few words.
“We were friends for years, created a bond that made us brothers. But just with a slight misunderstanding, you turned against me, teamed up with my mother and tried to ki.ll me.
“You threw a friendship of 11 years away, simply because I stopped you from ki.lling someone that saved my life. You threw all the obstacles we’ve been through just to get back at me. You’re pathetic, Zack”.
Zack lowered his gaze to the floor, his Jaws clenching.
“Don’t think I’m here to make peace with you or anything, because as a matter of fact, I never want to see your face, Zack. But just a fair warning: if you ever make a stupid attempt on me and Octavia – ever again, I’ll ban your clan from the X-family, and then I’ll kill you”.
Zack’s eyes glinted as he whipped his head up to look at Khalid, but Khalid didn’t give him the satisfaction for so long as he turned and walked away.

Octavia laid quietly on the bed, staring at the door the whole time and awaiting it to get open.
He said he wouldn’t take long, but he was doing so already – she thought bitterly.
Shortly, the door opened and she heaved a sigh of relief when she confirmed it was Khalid.
Oh…
Khalid pinned his eyes on her as he walked in an noticed she was looking slightly moody.
“Hey” he cooed as he climbed onto the bed and snuggled himself next to her.
“what’s wrong?”
His hand went over her waist, drawing her closer to himself.
“I’m fine, Khalid” she mumbled, staring down at his chest.
“It’s just.. don’t ever make me as scared as you made me this morning” .
Khalid smiled and stroke her hair.
“I’m so sorry, okay? It’s never repeating itself. I promise” Replied Khalid and Octavia smiled as he kssed her.
“I just have one question, Octavia” he sighed. “Where did you get the guts to do what you did?”
Octavia’s cheeks flushed immediately as she took her gaze to his chest again.
“I… I also don’t know, Khalid. I guess .. you were just worth the risk”. She answered bashfully, making Khalid more possessive of her.
He held her cheeks and kssed her for a long time and only let go when she needed to breathe.
“You’re the best thing that’s happened to me, Octavia. And I hope… nothing ever takes you away from me”.
There was a short silence, then Octavia answered with a smile:
“I love you too”.
Khalid pecked her lips once.
“Wait…” Octavia suddenly gasped and sat up, making Khalid flinch.
“What is it, Octavia?” He asked, and she hesitated a little.
“If… If you really want it tonight, you need to… promise me you’re gonna forgive your mother”. She finally said and Khalid’s eyes dimmed.
“What the he.ll are you talking about, Octavia?” He scoffed.
“Khalid, please…Your mother’s part of the reasons you’re alive. If…if she hadn’t agreed to break the bond, I doubt this would’ve happened”.
She paused and sighed.
“I told her…. the story you’d told me last night” she continued.
“She isn’t entirely at fault, Khalid. You told me yourself, she’d suffered a lot in the hands of your father and as a result, she grew up with so much hate. She had no idea you’d helped her and believe me, when I’d narrated the story to her, she broke down Khalid, and was so remorseful.
“Do you know… she was actually ready to die just to save your life? Yes. Breaking the bond required her to spIit her wrist open which would’ve led to the lost of her life. And she did it, Khalid. She tried to ki.ll herself but thank goodness, I was ready to save her. So, don’t you see? She did all she did out of frustration, Khalid. She was hurt. Please”
Khalid remained stiff and slowly, she placed her hand on his shoulders.
“Please….” Her voice more tender, they got to Khalid’s heart.
“I’ll um… ride you perfectly – if you give me a chance. Then, I’d… svck on you, even when you’re done”.

Khalid looked at her immediately, a cranky smile touching his lips.
“Seriously?” He scoffed.
“My little witch is becoming so naughty, isn’t she?”
He tickled her and Octavia laughed as they fell on each other.
