CHEATED : EPISODE 21 – 40

Episode 30

That same night, Favour had no idea what or how to pray for Mr. Frank, so she resorted to pleading the blood over him.

“What’s happening?” The ruler soliloquized in confusion.

“Is something wrong?” Mbakwe asked

“Where have you put your son? All I see is blood everywhere.” He said as Mbakwe smiled in his heart.

To be honest, he was glad his son couldn’t be hurt.

“We’re currently disarmed, but we’d certainly try later.”

“Though I didn’t get what I wanted,I can still try to attack.” Mbakwe thought to himself as he checked up on Kingsley from his mirror.

“A good thing he’s asleep.” He soliloquized happily as he get ready to attack his family.

“I don’t understand; what’s happening again?” He asked in frustration as his plans failed again.

On trying to find out what was going on, he figured someone was praying.

“Mrs. Nwankwo praying? With blood all over the place? Why’s this night just so messed up!” He said in frustration, giving up.

It’s been a month since Emma started praying for his mom and he was beginning to get discouraged, doubting if his prayers were working at all, as there were no signs of improvement on his mom.

“Are my prayers effective at all?” He questioned himself as he lovingly held his mom’s hands, wishing she could just smile and tell him she’ll be fine.

“There has been no difference since I started praying; maybe in just wasting my time.”

“Very good! Discouragement has, and will remain the most effective and powerful tool in our armoury.”

Favour had slowly sneaked towards Frank’s room to find him sleeping peacefully one night.

“He doesn’t look like one that needs prayers at all. I mean, it’s a month since he’s moved in and there’s no complain about a bad dream or something.” She said with a sigh.

“It’s possible I interpreted wrongly.” She concluded.

David could be seen in his room, looking disturbed.
He was so deep into thoughts that he didn’t notice his mom walk on.

After try to get his attention a couple of times, his mom sighed.

“What is wrong with this child of mine nowadays?”

“Mom? How…..when did you walk in.

I thought…..I thought my door was locked.
Wait…..how didn’t I hear you come in?” David kept asking in confusion as Mrs. Ifebueme watched him, shaking her head.

“Daviddddd……what exactly is it that is troubling you? What is it that you’re so bothered about that you sense don’t alert you when someone walks into your room?

What is it that’s disturbing you this much?” Her mom asked in obvious concern as David sighed with his head bowed.

“Mom I don’t know. My spirit is just so strongly against this life of ours but it’s so frustrating that I don’t know how to pray aright about it the day I decided to take your advice and table it before God.” David said as he sighed and hissed at some junctures.

“Well, if you don’t know what to pray about, ask the Lord to a helper our way.

My faith may not be as strong as yours my son, but I know that if God wants you to achieve anything, learn anything, elevate you or bring you out of a situation, he sends helpers your way.

Whenever God wanted to rescue the children of Israel from their troubles, He sent a helper their way.

He sent Joseph ahead of them to Egypt to help then out of distress in the times of famine.

He sent Deborah, Samson and other judges to help them prevail over their enemies.

Everyone in this life needs a helper in one or more stages of our lives; so I think it’s best to start from there.” Her mom suggested as he thought about it for a while.

“I never thought of that. I’d pray about it then. Thanks Mom.” He said with a hug as she responded with a pat.

“You’re welcome.”

“Frank, Mbakwe’s son must die no matter what; but I haven’t been able to touch him for sometime now because of the Blood.” The ruler thought to himself as he recalled several attempts he had tried to harm him.

“But who’s responsible for this? I’m sure it’s not Mbakwe because I’m higher than him; so who is it?

The last time I tried finding answers, there still was blood everywhere.

Nevertheless I won’t give up.
If Mbakwe’s sees ever has the slightest opportunity of recovering himself, he’d be glorious and that isn’t wanted.” He said conclusively.

Mr. Folawe had come to quietly stand at his wife’s door, to watch his son pray for her,and probably say “Amen” once in a while; but on getting there he met no one.

“What’s the problem? Or has he changed his usual time of coming to pray for her?” He wanted as he went to find out in his room.

On getting there, he met Emmanuel on his bed, facing up as if thinking critically about something.

“Is something wrong?” He asked as he came in, since he didn’t hear him knock.

“Dad is that you?” Emma said, still maintaining his position.

“Sure. You saw me earlier?”

“Of course, I just didn’t feel like talking.” He said.

“It’s past time to pray for your mom, isn’t it? I mean I went there to see if you were already praying but the room was empty.” He said as Emma looked at his dad in a surprised manner.

“Dad are you being serious right now?” He said with a soft laughter.

“I didn’t know you were watching me. I was only secretly praying for my mom to feel better and whole again.” Emma said as his dad smiles.

“Well, now you know. So why you not praying today?”

“I feel discouraged dad. I don’t see anything happening and it makes me feel like I’m just wasting my time praying for her.” Emma replied with all sincerity as Mr. Folawe smiled.

“What’s funny?” He asked.

“You’re discouraged? Oh come on son! That woman has been tied down for years and you expect a breakthrough to happen in roughly a month? No, things aren’t done that way the dear. You need to be prepared to persistently pray for your mom for months before you even see a sign, not to talk of her becoming fully whole.

You need to stay committed in the place of your prayers of you want to see any result.

Come on son, the people that put that bondage on her went to a lot to see to it that she’s like that; you don’t expect their work to be annulled in roughly a month do you?” His dad said as Emma kept thinking for a while.

“If at all you’re discouraged, think about you not knowing I’ve been watching you pray all these while.

It’s the same way something somewhere is going on but you’d be ignorant of it; because it might seem like a termite attacking a huge wood.

No matter what, something is going on in that wood but is insignificant for now, by the time you give the termite time to reproduce, you’d see signs that something is wrong with it.

In the same vein, by the time you give your prayers time, you’d see the signs that something is going on somewhere, and that your prayers are affecting certain things.” Mr. Folawe said as Emma nodded.

“And….. Emmanuel.” He called out gently, reaching for his hands.

“If your mom comes back, I’d follow your God; no matter how difficult it’d be. So please, consider not just your mom, but your dad too.” He said with a light smile and thereafter left.

“Wow, what just happened? Dad encouraging me to continue in prayers? Wow, just wow!” Emma said as he resolved in his heart not to give up, or let anything discourage him anymore.

“Is he back to prayers? How possible?” Baba soliloquized as he sought for answers.

“That’s it! It’s time I thought this prodigal Folawe a lesson.”
