Episode 27
It was already nightfall and Desmond’s family were about retiring to bed when his wife went to meet Favour, their daughter, in her room.
“Favour”
“Yes Mom….” She responded as she sat up her bed.
“Is something wrong?”
“Wrong? No Ma. Nothing is wrong.” She responded as she tried thinking what her mom was talking about.
“If nothing’s wrong then why did you behave that way to your father’s friend?
I’ve always told you; be nice to strangers, but never close to them because the days are evil. I thought you promised to stop being rude.”
“I’m so sorry Mom. I never meant to be mean to daddy’s friend. I’d comport myself to the very last next time.” Favour said with a pleading smile as her mom sighed.
“Are you sure?”
“Very sure mom.”
“Okay then, let me leave you to sleep. Goodnight.” She responded with a peck on her forehead and quietly left afterwards.
“Favour won’t you get yourself something to eat? I mean it’s break time already na.” Her very good friend and classmate said.
“I’m not hungry.” She said coldly, her head still buried in her hands.
“Hello, my fellow SS2 students.” David, said as he came into their midst and settled down.
“You too dey hype this SS2 class guy…….” Chris who was also one of them, said.
“Of course, it’s our penultimate class!. We’d soon be in our final class in a year time and to me, it’s worth celebrating.” David defended as the two girls, Favour and Gloria watched them argue for a while.
“Favour wassup na, what’s wrong with you?” David asked on noticing her countenance.
“There’s a stranger in our house……..”
“That’s no news na. Wait, is it why you’re sad?” Chris asked.
“It’s not it. I mean I know dad brings in a total stranger based on order of his boss, right? But there’s something about this particular that’s just so….. different.”
“Okay so what’s different? I hope you’re not trying to be over spiritual here.” Chris said with a chuckle.
“I’m serious, Chris! I don’t know what it is but I know there’s something about him and whatever it is, is up to no good.”
“If this feeling of yours is strong, pray hard about it then.” Gloria suggested.
“Yeah true. It definitely means something, but it’s up to you to find out what exactly in the place of prayers.” Chris said as he sipped his drink.
“Exactly.” Gloria as Favour went into thoughts
“David, why you staring at her like that? And, you haven’t been saying anything since.” Chris said.
“I’m just wondering if this is the same rude girl we all knew a year back or not. I mean this time last year, she was all rude and complained about each and everyone that comes her way.” She said as Chris let a smile.
“Well, it’s obvious she’s a changed person.”
“Yeah, but I have a question: at that time she was still prayerful and had meaningful dreams that connoted answers to her prayers most times; does it mean her character didn’t matter.
Generally, does it mean the character of a Christian doesn’t matter?” David asked, being new in the faith.
“Of course character matters. One needs to work out his salvation with fear and trembling, you know. It is as you do that, God moulds you to his image.” Chris responded.
“Okay what of those that have gifts and wonderful talents but are consciously living in sin? Why do they still have their gifts with then?”
“That question is already answered in the Bible: the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.”
“Why this talk anyway? And how does it relate to the matter on ground? I do not understand.” Gloria said, interrupting their conversation.
“I don’t know, that was what was just running through my mind. Though it all started when I remembered how terrible Favour’s character was and I was condemning her within, doubting her answers to prayers. I was even thinking she can’t change because we tried talking her out of that attitude of hers but she wouldn’t listen; but look at her, so calm, quiet, and respectful to even strangers. Amazing!”
“Well, it was only the Spirit of God that could convince and help her change, not man.” Chris said as Favour chuckled.
“You guys are making me smile hard, even though I’m not in the mood too.
You know to someone, a born again, his attitudes are right and may not listen to advices to change; especially when he feels He’s right with God. Thus, it’s the Spirit of God in that person that opens his eyes to his weaknesses and makes him change.
Honestly, ours is just to believe and be willing to yield as the Holy Spirit transforms us.” Favour said as David nodded in understanding.
“I think I understand now.” David said.
“Okay o, before you people turn break time to fellowship time.
So we’ve concluded already: Favour pray concerning the strong feelings you’re getting concerning this person, David you understand everything now abi? Biko let’s go and eat abeg, I’m hungry.
At midnight, Mazi wasn’t able to carry out his ev’l imagination against the Nwankwos, as all on his mind was how a young man was able to possess such power; how he managed to be much more powerful than himself who had been in the business of “power accessing” for ages.
“I must know the secret!”
It was the wee hours of the morning and Kingsley could be seen sitting beside his bed, deep in thoughts.
He just had a dream where he saw a large tree with lots of branches. However, one of the branches was so huge, to the extent that it was threatening to cut.
“What kind of dream is that? I do not understand a thing.” He said as he immediately knelt beside his bed to pray enquiry prayers.

After a few minutes of prayers and reasonable minutes of reading the Bible in wait for answers, he was led to the book of Daniel, where King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream about a tree.
When he was done, he still didn’t understand.
“What does my dream mean?” He kept asking himself.
“Just like the scripture you read, the tree is you.
The branches are the souls attached to your destiny: they’d fail if you do and rise when you do.
Those souls are the ones you’d bring to God, thus populating his kingdom.” The voice within that frequently communicates with him in his quiet time, explained.
“Wooooow…..my life affects that much amount of people? Amazing!
But what about the branch about breaking off?”
“The winning of that soul would be the beginning of a different tree entirely, so the tree it is on has to be strong; extremely strong to carry it’s weight.”
“Hmmm……..I have to be spiritually stronger than I already am.
If not for anything, but for those whose lives would be affected by it.
Most especially for the big fish that’d have a tree under mine too.
Hmmmmm” K thought to himself . He didn’t know when he drifted back to sleep.
“What’s that smell?!” Favour soliloquized frustratingly as she held her nose and grasped for fresh oxygen at the same time.
Curiously, she was slowly able to trace where the smell was coming from.
“Wait, is this not Mr. Frank’s room?
Geez, what would he be doing that’d bring such disgusting odour?” She thought to herself as she decided to peep through the door hole.
“Jesus!!!!!”
