Pius got back home and met his family watching the television,
“Hello my baby, he said coming at their back and Princess ran to him.
“Welcome daddy, she said and he carried her.
“Thanks my love, he said and met Achen with a straight face which she didn’t look at him, he saw it and knew something was wrong.
“Love what’s the problem? He asked giving her a peck and Achen tried calming herself down.
“Nothing I’m just feeling sick, welcome, she replied.
“Have you taken drugs? He asked checking her temperature and she shook her head.
“I’ll be fine, its just a mild headache. I’ll go set the table for you, she said getting up but he held her back.
“Don’t worry dear I’ll do that myself, give yourself rest okay, he said and left to the room while Achen looked at him and silently prayed for the grace to keep up with the pretence.
That night Pius met Achen in the room and sat watching her as she cleaned her face with a wiper, knowing her for years now he knew something was running through her head.
“Honey you’ve been moody like something is disturbing you, do you mind we talk about it? He asked.
“Nothing I’m fine don’t mind me, be sides its been long I’ve seen my friend, I wonder how she’s faring now without a husband, she replied not looking at him.
“Is that a problem? I thought you have her number, you can reach her on phone and talk to her if you want, he said.
“I noticed she has been avoiding me lately and showing me strange attitude, I wonder what her problem really is though I try to understand that probably she’s hurt her marriage didn’t work out, just maybe, she said and Pius was uncomfortable which she carefully stole glances at him through the mirror.
“Well probably that’s it, you know she got married first and kept moving from one problems to another till it got wrapped up, anyone will be hurt right? He asked.
“Yea, it does hurt but to me nothing hurt most than a loved one betraying me, I don’t think I can take that if it ever happens to me, she said and got up from the chair she sat.
“Betrayal? Who betrayed you dear? He asked.
“Oh no you didn’t get me, I only mean that’s my worst fear and I don’t want it to ever happen especially from you because it will hurt me bad, she said looking at him and Pius stood up and held her on her shoulder.
“Why should you think of something like that love? You know I love you right and our daughter and I can’t do anything that can possibly hurt you both, take such thoughts away from you please, he said and Achen faked a smile.
“That’s so assuring of you, I need to sleep now goodnight, she said and climb on the bed and laid down while Pius weakly looked at her not understanding her attitude at all…………

Mukasa got up from the floor he slept off and noticed Regina slept off on the sofa, and It was clear she was crying. He heaved and remembered there was no food at home and he staggered out.
Regina heard a tap on her face and she woke up to see her father with a plate of noodles,
“You shouldn’t have slept hungry, sit up and eat, he said.
“Thank you daddy, Regina weakly said getting the plate from him and he sat down looking at her.
‘Why are you thanking me when I just made you eat now since morning? What kind of a girl are you? He asked and stood up and left the sitting room to his room.
He sat on the bed and wept silently as he thought of all the bad things he has done to Regina yet she never complains or disrespect him.
“Sorry I cant be a good father to you even when I wanted that from the start, and that made me separate you from Christiana thinking I’ll give you a better life but I was wrong.
I’m so sorry my child, but I can’t do anything now, he said and sniffed as he took his wallet and saw the money he had left.
His phone began to ring and he slowly picked it up,
“Hi man, he said.
“Hey Mukasa, will you love to join us? His friend asked.
“To where? Mukasa asked.
“There’s this job i found in the neighboring town, we can get few coins from there, he replied.
“Sure why not? I’m so empty right now, I doubt if I even have the transport to take me there, Mukasa said.
“I can help with the transport, but what about your daughter? I think you’ll have problem in that aspect, he said and Mukasa heaved.
“My daughter Is a very understanding girl and I’m sure she will understand. So when are we getting started? Mukasa asked.
“Tomorrow, you should leave early like 5a.m so we will not get there late and join the other workers in the job, agreed? He asked.
“Sure, thanks so much, I’ll call you tomorrow then when I’m about to leave, thank you friend, he said.
“Okay bye, he said and dropped the call.
Mukasa smiled and went back to the sitting room and saw Regina has finished the food and was about the return the plate,
“Thank you daddy for the food, she said and he nodded and sat her down..
“I’ll be going somewhere tomorrow very early in the morning and I’ll be coming back late in the night. You’re a big girl now you should know the road to your school and the way back home now without me, take Care of yourself and always remain indoors is that understood? He asked but she was looking at him.
“Daddy what about me? She asked.
“What about you means what? Didn’t you hear all that i said? From now on you will be the one attending to yourself because I’ll be too busy, go to school early and come back home immediately the school is over, he said.
“But tomorrow is Saturday will i go to school too? she asked.
“I know stop lecturing me, when I’m gone tomorrow make sure you take care of the house and don’t leave it to anywhere.
Before I’ll leave tomorrow I will prepare your food which you will eat that till anytime i come back, you better manage it.
Now go and sleep, he said and Regina stood up and slowly left for her room with a sad face.
Mukasa rubbed his head as he looked at her and felt so bad, then he locked the door, switched off the lights and left for his room too.
Regina sat down crying silently and wished she had a mother.
“Are you listening now to me mommy? You were not fair giving me to daddy, she cried and laid down………….

Bale returned with Christiana from the outing they went to and they got in laughing happily,
“Did you get to see the way that man danced with his big tommy? That was so amusing, Christy said.
“Yea that’s right, he got the whole stage and surprisingly he won the price, Bale said.
“Yea i think he deserves it for making me laugh that hard, Christy said but Bale just kept looking at her.
“Why? Is there anything on my face? she asked and Bale smiled.
“I’m just admiring a beautiful lady and I’m glad you were so happy today, please Christiana I want you to be happy this way always, it really suits you, he said taking her hands and Christy felt shy and removed her hand from his.
“Are you still uncomfortable around me? I’m changed now, haven’t I proved that to you? The Bale of old was lu$ting over your body i know, I was young and foolish then but now I’m different, he said.
“Why are you saying this? I wasn’t thinking about that anymore, she said.
“I’m so happy to hear that, but honestly Christy, can there ever be us? He asked and Christy looked at him.
“Us? She asked surprised.
“Okay i apologize for saying that please don’t be mad at me, i couldn’t control my emotions. You really need to rest, and thanks for making my day, Bale said and she nodded.
“Goodnight Bale and thanks for today, she said but he hugged her instead.
“I don’t know Christiana, a part of me wants you and if you don’t accept me when I’m ready, no one will have you either. Get prepared to remain single all your days for my happiness, he said in his heart and smiled to himself.
“Ermmm sorry about that, goodnight, Bale said disengaging from the hug and left for His room, while Christy weakly sat down and covered her head on her laps……………
